FOW PUGs with suisidal members
thunderai
I was in the FOW a few nights ago and one member of the group was apperently trying to get everyone else in the PUG killed. They were a W/Mo and would pull all sorts of different mobs towards us then back off and not fight while the rest of the group had to fight off the mobs. This continued until we got into the Armored Bug cave where he would be well outside of the groups argo bubble pulling new mobs into the pug. The pug was able to kill of the mobs minus him and another person who left earlier. When we had killed all the mobs there he finally just quite.
The group felt that he was trying to get us killed and that he left because he wasn't able to get fow to himself.
My question is, is this a commen ocurance in high end areas where one member of the group will attempt to kill off everyone else?

It happens in other areas too - they seem to get a kick out of messing up other people and work one area until the regulars know the name then move on.
Most people dont keep notes so they can eventually rotate back and nobody remembers them.
Just chalk it up to experience

There are some truly nice people to pug with and add to your friends list and they far out number the ones that try to undermine your group. It would be a shame if everyone decided not to pug anymore at all.

I suggest staying well away from the warrior as he runs in. They will initially attack him; if you are too close they will swap targets to you, if you arent close they will wipe the warrior and you get to laugh and not res.
It doesnt happen often though, just go with players that are patient and dont shout "GO GO GIVE 125 GOLD TO LEADER NOW AND GO", cos they will be bad players and possibly act as you have described.

I never take a W/mo to the FOW anyway, reuable rez should be on a caster, And any wammo builds that rely on monk skills will get owned in the shadow army

LOLS!!!! hahahaha
It is lunch time at work right now and I almost choked on my salad while reading your post.
note to self: Do not invite wammos to group.

Yeah with the hero bugs, I was doing ascalon city, and koss, my w/mo went freaking afk on me. He just sat there and didnt attack, psh.
Dont bring Wammos.
Dont bring Wammos.

Another thing is that when people quit their drops become ownerless and you can just go back and pick up whatever they left behind. I've heard that after about 10 minutes that ALL drops become ownerless but have never seen such a thing.
Masseur
Yeah, another problem is 55 Monks acting like regular monks to get into FoW for free and then when fighting off the 2nd mob they go running off to solo. I go running after them and stay in the area and some of their nice drops become mine <grin>. Or talk to the ghost early and have him run to his usual spot before the mobs are killed so he dies and we go back without that 55 Monk.

I'm sick of constantly spamming "I have Spiteful Spirit on me" only to be ignored by the monk. Then inevitably some jerk in the group sends "WTF? Why are you just standing there? ATTACK!!!"
Oh, and Jeremy, my wammo does quite well against the shadow army.
Also, Vala, all drops will lose ownership after 10 minutes. This is true for all drops everywhere.

Your monks will always appreciate Succor if you can spare the energy...

Hex Eater Vortex ftw in FoW. One huge reason to always take a Mesmer.

I have seen some suicidal puggers, but none of those that seemed to do it on purpose.
Most recent experience of such would be in UW, the tanking warrior kept backtracking to attack any aataxes that passes trough his tank spot, and by that giving the casters 3 extra aataxes to deal with
And i disagree on ignoring pugs, so now and then you'll find a nice pug wich is very succesfull or just a pug with friendly people.
Lately i came across such a pug while trying to pass gyala on my sin, we teamed up to do it in hard mode with me as healer after a while, and we simply blasted trough it to get masters on it.
Funny thing of that was the fact that our tank was a hammer wielding W/El with armor of earth and sliver armor that just made every other warrior tank look pathetic
Don't fool yourself by thinking Wa/Mo and Hammer warriors aren't the best options, in some cases this is far from the truth!

Too many do this now. Can't find enough people now to do some missions, and if there happens to be enough people, 6 wammos doing The Wilds? Gotta love it.

Reminds me of the old days where I once pugged THK with 6 wammos 2 monks. We almost done it

[skill]vampiric touch[/skill] FTL!!!
Going slightly of topic there..... I've been in groups with suicidal players, but I don't think they did it on purpose tbh. Nothing like what the OP describes

Hmm, doesnt sound wierd to me at all. In fact, I always thought that was the definition of a wa/mo when it came to FoW. J/K Seriously though, it doesn't have anything to do with the players... it's because people 'take on' the role of wamo and get all stupid...
In other words, they're just role playing, give em a break... sides, it's funny watching em.
Oh, hey sod...it weren't the wamos... the bonder with a halfassed decent skill bar can solo monk at least to the forge. Well, a halfway decent monk can, ok... if the groups not all incomptetent

If we have 2 monks along and I know them and know that they are competent then I'll bring a different skill, but that's rare.

This has happened to me before though, particularly in fow aswell o_O I just figured some eleven year old was bored and felt like being immature/as annoying as possible whilst messing up things for the team ¬_¬;
Regardless of this, I'm still willing to go with PUGs for missions and believe they want to play the game and just have fun like I do, but tend to stick with heroes for side quests and guildys for fow/urgoz/anguish/whatever.
reddswitch
This has happened to me too in fow. The guy was a total prick while our group tried clearing the mess he caused. It's not funny and this is what gets everyone all elitist-like cause of idiots like them ruining any kind of group mission or pvp.
A bad thing about GW is there're no repercussions for idiotic acts. It'll be better if you could kick someone out or pvp them dead.

A Wammo agroing multiple mobs you say, so what was the question again?

Plenty of assholes out there, so it doesn't surprise me. If he had a solo build, I suppose I could see him using a PUG to get a cheaper entrance fee. Though, there are plenty of total morons that just like to ruin other people's fun for their own amusement. Just put him on your ignore list I suppose, and make a habit of checking the names you've listed each time you join a PUG.
Personally I've only had 1 person that I felt was diliberately being a tool. His GF had started the party and we had to wait 15 minutes for him to log-on, which was kinda a warning flag I guess. They were elitest jerks. One of the members didn't have a skillbar up to their cookie-cutter "standards" and they just started an insult fest on the poor guy.
I said something about it, mentioning the fact that the tank didn't seem to understand aggro code very well (well he didn't, honestly) and that he should work on his own skills rather then pick on other people. The guy (he was the tank) decided he would start pulling groups of monsters directly into our group, while the girl refused to blood ritual the monks. I just quit out (hope they didn't need an ele nuker), it was pointless.

By the way, what's so bad about 'Wammos', I'm a W/Mo myself, and can't count the times my team was happy I brought a Rebirth instead of Resurrection Signet...
Etta
There's nothing wrong with warrior/monk, it's "Wammo" that drag the class down.
blue.rellik
Well I went into a PUG with my warrior (not a wammo) and got hexed with SS. I did what anyone would have done, I pinged SS.
The monk doesn't do anything.
Ok, I let that slide since he might have been busy healing his noob wammo guildie who was running around spamming stances and healing breeze.
Next time I get hexed with SS, I ping it and again the monk does nothing. This time I ask him; 'Dude, I have SS on me. Why don't you remove it?'.
He cunningly replies 'I didn't bring any hex removal'
Perplexed I reply 'And why the hell not?'
The next part kills me
"No point removing it since they'll just recast it"
Yeah. That shut me up as well

For a long time now after a bad experience in Abaddon's Mouth I have refused most wammos access into my PuGs...with the exception of alliance-based ones.
I liked an idea I found on these forums a week or so ago...I forgot who suggested it but I must get my monk into a group with a wammo...let him die....then res him with Unyielding Aura. Can anyone say "muahahaha"?

*Sn!ggers*
While I generally don't approve of this sort of behaviour... I admit to certain ends I have participated in less than honest behaviour with PuGs before...
The absolute classic was when trying to get my Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer title and unlocking the "mists" island in the fight with Shiro... I spent ages trying to round up a group of PuGs that all had higher health than me.... absolutely refusing to take any Heroes or Henchies that had less (though I had to make underhanded excuses to get them to agree) ....
And eventually I managed it.
When we got into the fight.... I sprinted ahead at the start, leaving them behind.... stripped all my armour off... and ran around Shiro Naked until I got banished. I actually had to do this twice to get enough of the Mists island.... Needless to say the group lost and the wammos (they were mostly wammos) were not amused.... but I couldn't care less! It was their own stupid fault for falling for my cunning plan!
That reminds me of another incident...
I went into Vizunah Square with an assassin that had been bugging me repeatedly to let him join my team (I was playing my necro).... and we noticed that other team was all asian and entirely human.... AND... they weren't picking up their gear.
... Well... we got to the next-to-last fight... the big one... and I flagged my heroes and henchies in the middle and then ran back to the first area to loot all their gear. Sure enough I totally packed out my inventory... including a whole ton of Putrid Cysts (which I'd been collecting anyway).... and gradually made my way back, collecting all I could on the way.
Naturally that fight had been won quite easily with my heroes helping, but they were left behind when the asians and the annoying assassin went to the last fight... I heard one of them comment in English that I was gone... and they only noticed after the fight...
... And I laughed at them when Togo died, just as I reached my flagged heroes and henchies... ^_^ ... Serves 'em right for not picking up their loot... [and serves that one assassin right for bugging me so much].
Yeah... I can be a total bastard sometimes... if I feel like it.... but I usually have ulterior motives; not just doing it out of spite.

Did I mention I have a regular habit of using an Edge of Extinction spirit spammer in Fort Aspenwood.... and using my fellow Kurzicks as "ammo" for the EoE?
They always complain...
They're always like "ZOMFG! I gots EOE ON ME! TAkEiTOFF!" ... and I just laugh at them...

Aahhhhh! The Wammo hating. You're just jealous of the awesome power of mending!
Seriously though, I change my secondary to W/E when I try to get PUGs to FoW. Not for the skills... more because I'm using mostly War skills and it looks better to group a W/E over a W/Mo :P
