Wow, nice! I'll be there!

Now this is a way to get input from a community, however this needs to be advertised in game, as only 10% or so of players read these forums.
Im also curious how they will deal with the kids that will start flaming or whatever.

Will this be a Question and Answer session? or just a plain ol' chat?

I think that there should not be any in-game advertising.
You need to keep participation reasonable, not to mention there will most likely be a participant cap.
The less people that knows about it, the less "Anet Sux for capping chat" threads we will have to suffer through.
Mr. G
could this be the "questions will be answered another day, soon" that giale gave us during the RAB
Symeon
Completely open chat? I can see this being a disaster. I mean, it will just be like one of Gaile's ingame meetings... spammers and idiocy galore. Of course, it's easier to remove people in chatrooms, but I still foresee this being chaotic.

The second half of the discussion could be open to all. (the usual that contains spammer)
(just a suggestion)

mazey vorstagg
someone will make a log of this won't they? 'Cos I can't be there

Question...
You have to download the program...can you get the basic version and it will work? OR do you have to pay that stupid 4 dollar monthly fee? to be able to listen in on the chat?

Spam fest 2k7 I guess... I'll try and be there, but I'll expect it to be crazy.

Due to my supreme powers of prophecy, I have transcribed the entire chat!
A bleak future, I know. Maybe Hiro can kill Sylar in time to stop the bomb...

GaileG: Holy crap, Zinger's being nice and considerate. I think someone hijacked his forum handle. Zinger314: Let's first start off with PvE. What will you be adding to the current PvE until GW: EotN? IzzyC: minipets, n00b Zinger314: Izzy, I thought you were the skill balancer... IzzyC: its still true JeffS: No, it's not. IzzyC: STFU n00b Zinger314: Never mind. How does ArenaNet plan to remedy the Soul Reaping nerf for Necromancers in PvE? IzzyC: lol pve Zinger314: Alright...next question. How does ArenaNet plan to make Mesmers viable in PvE? PatrickW: Delete them all. You ever hear the saying "you have to destroy the village to save it?" Zinger314: Let's try something else. Gaile said that there is no anti-farm code in Hard Mode, yet anecdotal evidence on fansites such as Guild Wars Guru says otherwise. Is it true? *You have been kicked from the chat. Reason: Shut up, seriously. We didn't expect actual questions. We just thought we'd let people vent their questions and ignore them, as usual. --Gaile |

OK...I must admit that made me lol
Jebus
Sad; but true; Zinger314.
AlienFromBeyond
Too true Zinger314.
Lifeinthefridge
O come on weren't people complaining before they never got to directly communicate with Anet besides, Gaile. I think it will be great, but honestly Zingers thing did make me crack up in laughter.
Series
Haha Zinger. That was great and probably true!
Tea Girl
omg... zinger you are ftw rofl
Red-Tide
Love it Zinger! However, you will now most likely be banned for making fun of Anet

Free Runner
That was a good one Zinger nearly choked laughing
Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Dunno if I can make I there. It sure sounds interesting, and could be very fun(ny) to watch.
I hope someone will take screens or copy text to keep a log going. It'd be very cool to read in case I don't make it.

Everytime you send or receive a message, you receive +1 Information and then your comm system is disabled for 5 seconds.
I like it! Balance FTW!

I hate to say it but Gamespy network for games have always been less then reliable. They are the third party equivalent to their father site IGN (which is also less then reliable at times).
Omega X
I hope someone makes a transcript of the chat.
Inde
Hmmm, I've personally asked for a GW chat with the devs or community relations multiple times, with the hope to coordinate it between the fansites. The details we came up with were on doing it on GameSurge, only certain people voiced. Interview style (with questions beforehand) then an open Q&A the last 10 minutes with questions set in/screened for the devs. Hopefully it will follow that kind of format as I believe it would be the best and most open way for the community.
prism2525
I'm guessing Gaile & co. are gonna pull your ear for that, zinger

Here's to many more of these in the future, cheers!
(Though I hate Gamespy.)

I doubt it will be any different then the people spamming gaile with questions once she's in a international district.
To many people with to many questsions is choas, setting up a forum or replying in these might be less "Problematic" unless they want to a add a max number of people in that chat channel.
In rge last case it could be usefull.

I'm not too shure about that, thought there are quite a lot of people that are interested and would like to ask questions, I really wonder how many will bother showing up. Don't underestimate the lazyness of gamers.
having that said, those that DO come, probably have a good enough reason to do so, and as such would probably have some nice suggestions.

I won't bother with it...purely due to my dislike of Gamespy. I have the time. I have the inclination. I just refuse to sign up with them again...at all...ever....for any reason. I'll sit back and wait to read about it...you get more out of the discussion generated by things like this anyway.
Stan The WHitecrow
dunno if ill make it to see the dev talk but im hoping for someone will get the devs to help out the hammer, its fallen by the wayside thanks to the sycthe

Many gamers already know the song and dance routine for these sort of things.
Bulk of those questions will be in regard to GW2 and EToN. And the majority of those answers will be, "We can't talk about it yet". The rest of those questions will be about recent farming changes, Hard Mode and the state of PvP. One or two will manage to ask a question worthwhile but the rest will be stuff that we already know about.
I personally don't see any reason to participate in this, which is why I asked if anyone was going to do a transcript.

A formal dev chat, like this one, must of course be moderated. There will be a lobby in which everyone who attends will be present. Questions will be submitted from players via a method that the GameSpy moderator will outline. The questions will then be relayed to us. As a team we'll come up with the best and most complete answer possible and will then post it into the chat room.
In other words, there will be no scrolling text, no spamming, and no abuse, because while it will be live, it will not be an open chat with a thousand people calling out questions and us trying to answer them all.

For all we know, the whiners would be front and center on something like a Dev Chat.

Seriously, learn2irc. Ultima Online developers have been doing it for years (UOHoC). The beauty of it? I can pick whatever irc client I trust to not have spyware.
