Was just playing around with some caster shutdown build because Dolyak Masters were giving me trouble while capping skills last weekend. I can say that this build pretty well shuts down casters. Working is more or less as follows:
-Before engaging use practiced stance and choking gas, this will give you an extra long duration.
-As soon as choking is on, hit Heket's right away, you can use Heket's rampage exactly 2 times before choking gas expires. While choking gas is on you have a 33% IAS all the time. If foes are hugging together you can shot down 3 casters at once (use a short bow for the funniest effects).
-When there are no casers around use practiced stance+ignite arrows to buff the damage a bit because marksmanship is pretty low.

I don't say it's tomorrow's next über build, but it sure as hell is fun to fool around with . Ignite arrows + zhed carrying mark of rodgort is downright awesome.

Yes, [wiki]Practiced Stance[/wiki] + [wiki]Choking Gas[/wiki] can be very effective against (groups of) casters. Good fun.

Frequently rangers go /W and add Flurry to their PS/CG, rather then a beastmastery based IAS, so that two main attributes underlying PS and CG can be higher.

Yeah lol I tried flurry, but it doesn't work with expertise so it kinda drains my energy (running only 25 max energy). Funny how flurry doesnt seems to work with expertise and mending touch does :/ They must have nerfed that somewhere in the past. But what you say makes sense, it's indeed a weak spot in the build to spec 12 in BM just to have an IAS. the pet is a nice tank however.

Mending Touch is (Touch) Skill classified. Flurry is stance I think?

Expertise, as it says in the description, works on all Attack Skills, Ranger Skills, Binding Rituals and Touch Skills. Therefor no Flurry.

Therefor no Flurry. nice, thx for the heads up, I assumed stances worked with expertise too because theres quite a lot of ranger skills are stances. My bad really that I didn't use my ranger for other purposes then B/P teams (the most mindless way of using a ranger, no skill required :P), that's exactly what im trying to change now.

It was more an alternative, just as I (now) consider you use of [wiki]Heket's Rampage[/wiki] as an alternative. Your attributes don't allow CG to be up at all times (I think) but one could also drop marks to raise expertise and wilderness survival to levels that allow CG to be up at all times and use the pet for damage and tanking. Or replace Practiced Stance with [wiki]Incendiary Arrows[/wiki] and use CG and IA together for interrupting.

Yeah thats pretty insane indeed, and people complained it made rangers pretty much immune to conditions. Instead of fixing that little thing aNet upped the recharge of mtouch instead :P.

Anyways thanks for the tips all, hell, I didnt expect needling shot to own like that, felt like a machine gun .

Actually Needling shot have a better damge result if your bow doesnt do much damge. Like shootting a warrior with 80 armour shooting them with +15 damage will no see much differnt. While needling shot with a non raw damge add up like Kindel arrow will do more damge.
