Account lost forever because of an adware.

Well if you don't get your account back (wich really sucks for you) I'll be more than heppy to give you my account (if that isn't against the EULA Rules) since I don't play it anymore. Just PM if you're interested...

This is why people need to stop running Windows on accounts with admin privileges for everyday things. I'm sure you informed your father of all the adware and had it removed. Now is the time to inform him of using a limited user account for every day use so the majority of malicious software on the net can't be installed in the first place.

Best thing I every did for my Windows rig was reinstall WinXP and set up an admin account for installation and a limited user account for everyday use.

Yes sometimes i farmed a lot with my Mo/D outside Bergen Hotsprings...but not in the last day of playing Guild Wars. I was thinking of the 1) part...it sounds like a possibility what could have happened. And btw this computer DOES have Limewire in it...so maybe that has something to do with this whole mess?? You were observed by a mod to be bottish. It would be hard to argue that it was due to spyware. If you are innocent, good luck.

and i am so thanks =) i wouldn't be seeing this much work if i really was a bot user you know =P i'll ask them to show me the evidence first and then i'll try to prove them that i'm innocent. It will be hard but i hope that there is something i can do. i didn't pay 150€ so that some 40-years old virgin could hack into my computer and get me banned permanently..NO!!

First of all, there have been several people on these forums that have been perma-banned for "bot-like behavior" that was supposedly witnessed in game, only to have themselves unbanned after they insisted they did nothing wrong and Anet checked into it. Not to mention the countless other people here who've been perma-banned for countless different reasons, only to have Anet reverse the decision because they made a mistake.

Am I saying that Anet definitely made a mistake? No. Am I saying it's possible that Anet made a mistake? Yes.

Second, he wasn't saying, "OMFG THIS IS SO UNFAIR, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG ANET MUST FIX IT!" He's saying, "hey, look, this is what happened to me, beware and make sure you keep your computers clean or this could happen to you."

I hope the "In Game Moderators" spend a bit more time at the well known bot locations rather than picking on people with questionable guilt. I'll take the word of Witte Was. If even one respected member of this forum will support the OP then thats good enough for me. Tough break. I feel for you no end.

heh.... well all i got to say is tough luck..... also you cant make them prove you are guilty cause if you read the terms and such they have the right to ban you.... hell if they decided they didnt like you and banned you there would be nothing you could do about it...

also i do feel sorry for you, i would be very very sad if this happened to me, but im very careful with GW and viruses on my comp because i dont want this to happen. but like others have said a virus could not do this..... really its your actions that did this not the adware you need to think back to other reasons why you got banned, and ignore this one. it will only impead your progress.

Give the man a break, too many players just want to flame someone and they found what they thought is a perfect target. As far as adaware goes, you never realy know what is beig installed on your computer unless yu are anal about security. It seems oddd that Rand played for as long as he did and never had any problems then the one time he uses his dads computer he gets banned.I personaly have done the same but all that happened to me was a suspension of a few days, my mistake was wanting toplay so bad that I went to an internet cafe(will never do that again). A-Net and NC-Soft at one time did send out an E-Mail warning but I guess the problem has become so rampant that they ndecided to just start banning accounts that are suspect. Is that fair, not to those that are innoscent, should it continue, I think so. Yes they will ban an occasional innoscent account, but if that person can come up with proof that they were not using a bot program willingly then they should get their account back.
If more players who get banned wrongly raise enough of a stink then maybe something will be done. Until then I will just keep beign paranoid about my computers security.

Well Rand has said that he had farmed like a fiend just prior to the ban, which by the way is NOT a violation of the Eula. He may have appeared bot like, and I believe I read something to the effect of he may have felt bot like ;P towards the end in another thread.
Now, as far as I know... farming isn't against the EULA and looking like a bot does not a bot make. So FIGHT IT RAND!

2. Anet has stated several times they have a fifo system (first in first out) and depending on the stack of things to do it might take several weels or longer before they got to that one and checking it out might take time also.

a GM saw behavior and turned it in so they could check the logs for more accurate information than simply a GM spotting something.

So..i lost everything because of one adware i didn't know even existed...over 2000hours of gameplay,over 150€ worth of money and all my friends lost possibly forever because of ONE STUPID ADWARE!!

I hope you NEVER get your account back since you were seen in-game using suspicious activity and the fact that you are willing to admit that you have no friends outside of Guild Wars.

Yes, it's possible; my point was never that ANet was incapable of mistakes. My points were these:

1) Anet have a lot more information on this case than either you or I.

2) You may be inclined to think he's innocent, and I may be inclined to think he's not - but it doesn't matter what we think. The only thing which matter is what ANet thinks, so complaining here doesn't help at all. The only ones who can help him is ANet support.

Firstly my comment was in response to him saying that he wouldn't complain this much if he wasn't innocent.

Secondly, the adware he found has nothing to do with him getting banned, except perhaps indirectly if it was bundled with a hack or bot. ANet has no clue what is running on your computer unless it messes with gw.exe or with the servers.

That crap of the "automated like beahaviour" really sent a chill down my spine, cause when I m farming at 3-6 in the morning I really feel like a bot.

Guess its good i cant farm more than a couple of hours each spot and my monk actually use armor.

the Op needs to get over it, he's sad cause he bought gold off ebay, and it started to cost him to much so he started a bot up and got caught..and if anet falls for your "omg my daddys porn infested computer botted GW for me and even sold it to the merchant for me, what shall i do!" they are complete fools

I usually don't buy software but I did buy this one. It is way more advanced than any other anti-spyware software.
