there needs to be some kind of saving method in these games. Not so i can come back later but so when the dumb servers spike or dc me i can start where i left off or at least close to where i left. Some of the missions are very long and take a lot of of you and it is totally unfair to have all of that taken away by a disconnection. Everyone has experienced at least once and if not many more. It just so happens that it occurs when on the longest missions. Please use your brains to think of some kind of saving method even if it is a checkpoint or something. This way we can at least retain some of the progress we have.

The hell, there's a reconnect feature. Come back within 10 minutes of a disconnect and you can resume play exactly where you were, PvE or PvP.

Occasionally, the reconnect feature may glitch up, but I find it fairly reliable. I play over a satnet connection so I can experience connection issues at times.

Onetime I disconnected like 10 times in 30 minutes. restarted exactly where i was every time.

Already exists.
If you get cut off, and log back in within a given time you have the choice to be taken back to where you last were when you got cut off.
But the system you want would go against GWs instance mecanism. The idea is we use instances and towns. Instances start a fresh, everytime you enter one.
If you wanted to save your exact location and progress inside an instance at a given time, so you could exit and load back into that exact place, it would require Anet storing that information on their side.
That would be alot of game information per player. Thats why they put a 10 minute limit on the reconnect system.
If you want that ability then play WoW or some other MMO.

OMG the re-connect is the best update they've done, and that's saying a lot, this game rocks.

There isn't a SINGLE online game out there with a save feature. The reason? How the heck are you supposed to save a game when there are other real people in your party? Think things through more before demanding an option.
