Miniature Varesh Shows Fighting Spirit
mr_groovy
I din't post this in screen shot topic, because I haven't seen this before. And I don't think it's her attacks stance either. So anyways me and a guildie were doing an UW duo run, when I pulled out my varesh out for laughs Then she did something I haven't seen before in town
It's a gif so you can see the sequence a bit .Am I the only one who was kept in the dark? This also leads to wonder if more mini's have special things like this. Again this is not an attack stance but something different.

Blackest Rose
She'd not attacking - so it must be damage effect around her.
Just looks like minitatures trigger damage animaations to me.
Probably don't have HP so can't die....
Interesting observation none the less .....

Blackest Rose, Grasping Darknesses are Warrior profession. They are clearly attacking the tank.
Sir Skullcrasher
I wonder if Mini Bone Dragon does that?

I think we're agreeing here - damage aminmations are being triggered because she is being hit by AOE skills.

The Darknesses have Distracting Blow, an AoE interrupt. That could be hitting Varesh and triggering that animation.
Spazzer
Grasping Darknesses have one aoe skill--Distracting Blow. That is not the animation for Distracting Blow.
There are necro enemies in that area (Dying Nightmares), but the only skill they cast on foes is Rend Enchantments. It will not cast this on an enemy that has no enchantments, but will instead use Blood Is Power on allies.
It does look like your allies necro skill is spilling over onto Varesh somehow.

Grasping Darkness' actually have 2 aoe skills - the second (fear me) is apparent from the .gif in the OP post. I don't know if that could be causing the halo around mini varesh.

Well, if you look closely, I think the warrior has the same green aura around him that Varesh has, but I just tested "Fear Me", and it doesn't cause a green aura around foes. I can't imagine that distracting blow would either
Sir Skullcrasher
I don't think mini pets will ever fight anything other than looking cool!
Seef II
Desecrate Enchantments?
tenshi_strife
ok wtf.... must try this with all my pets..... but that means i have to stand there for 19 pets lol ill post result when i get them
Choach
It's the animation for creatures affected by Spiteful Spirit. If you look closely, you can see the same small green ring around the tentacles of the Graspings. I noticed this same thing over my Asura's head a few weeks ago during a 55/SS run.
tenshi_strife
so minis are enemies ???? ok that explains it and makes me wonder even more.....
bam23
The green ring around the tentacle looks more like Price of Failure, creatures affected by Spiteful Spirit light up at their feet.
I'm curious as to what the Varesh is doing too.

Ritual del Fuego
Could it be a shadow being cast from the aura being emited from the floating grasping darkness above it?
Sir Skullcrasher
I think it could be one of the darkness casting something and Varesh is simply in the path so the reaction were shown on the screen.
Bruce Leeroy
I've seen my mini Titan do that as well.
Cherno
Minis seem to suffer or reflect aoe affects. If you have some minis out when you go against Beastmasters, they will fall down then they use stomp.
viper11025
This is wierd.
I wish my stuff could do that.

I saw the mursaat towers in the ring of fire mission having effect over my mini jade
Nay of the Ether
They used to be able to die from environment effects, so yeah they are affected by game mechanics, but they either took away health so they can't receive dmg or just made them plain invincible is unknown. But yes they are not just pretty display images they have real substance in the game. If you've ever seen the floating level indicator glitch over one you'll know what I mean.

Minis are technically npcs and they swap when the black beast uses touch of arghhhhhhh.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did fight due to some error.
We need a minipet arena in GW2 as a replacement for polymock's never-came pvp.

why did you res a two year old thread?
Arduin
To give zwei2stein a chance to make a poem. Reason enough for me, eh?

Minipets are affected by all sorts of things, that's what makes them cute. They can be knocked down by AoE knockdown and IIRC if you drop a vine seed (from the Maguuma missions) near them, they will be overgrown with vines for a few seconds, which looks adorable.

from the wiki Notes http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Minipet
"It has been proven that Miniature Pets are in fact allies, as they are affected by skill effects, such as Earthquake, "Touch of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh" and "You're All Alone!", but can take no damage from either skill, or any hostile attack. Minipets do not engage aggro and therefore cannot be used as tanks for damage. They can, however, help to boost skills with effects for each ally within range, such as Leader's Comfort or energy gain from Leadership."
