Please answer these questions for me

I have been browsing through many forums, and I must say that i have seen alot of topics about Guild Wars. Many say it is fun, and i want to try it. I have a couple questions though.

1). When you finish the "chapter" what do you do? I mean like once you get to the max level, I believe it is 20 do you just walk around and wait until you buy the next chapter.

2). If i were to buy Guild Wars (the first one) would there still be many people playing on that edition, because since there is 3 many would probably be moving on?

3) if i were to play on, lets say Guild Wars Faction, I wouldnt be able to play or talk with people from like NightFall?

4) I am currently playing MS (maple story) if any of you play it as well, do you recommend this game over that? To those of you who dont play Maplestory, Do you recommend this game at all?

5) Do you believe I should just wait until Guild Wars 2?

6). Last but not least, I really want to try this game before I buy it, If any of you have a, I think it is called "buddy key" or trail key, may you please send it to me, my email is ([email protected]) . Please I really want to try this game.

1-First thing, you get lvl 20 way before the end of any chapter. The real fun begins at lvl 20. GW is about balance and the skills you use, not uber lvls and equipment. As for once you finish the game,there are side quests which you probably didn't do. Other professions to try, farming, PvP etc.

2-There are still a fait amount of people playing prophecies and you can use henchmens when you need to.

3-You can only play in the campaign(s) you own, there's nothing preventing you from interacting with players or buying items from other campaigns as if the people you play/trade with are in the campaign you own. i.e. you can play with a friend who has dervish from nightfall in prophecies even if you don't own nightfall.

4-I recommend GW, it's a fun game great for casual or more hardcore gamers and since there's no monthly fees if you decide to stop playing you can get back to it anytime you want without any penality.

5- No, GW2 will be betatested in 2008 and willprobably come out around 2009-2010 so there's plenty of time to play GW1.

6-There's a place in this forum to request trial keys, post your request there and you'll get offers for sure..

There are still plenty of things to do after you complete a chapter's storyline. You'll find hard mode unlocked for you (tougher monsters and better loot), check out the elite areas of the game, save up for some prestive armor, and there's the option of taking your roleplaying character into PvP as well.

There are still plenty of people playing Guild Wars Prophecies. I've never had problems with finding other people to play with there.

If you only had Factions, you would still be able to talk to other players in the other chapters. However, you would need to buy the other chapters and add them to your account to be able to travel to those other chapters yourself.

I definitely recommend Guild Wars. It's a great game with a rich and diverse roleplaying experience, as well as some amazing PvP. You don't have to invest huge amounts of time to be able to enjoy the game, there's next to no grinding, and every character is on a more or less level playing field.

I think you should start with Guild Wars now. It will be possible to transfer certain things between GW1 and GW2 (although transferring characters won't be possible), so the work you put into GW now will pay off if you decide to get GW2 in the future.

Unfortunately, I've already given my buddy key away so I can't help you with your last question, but I hope these answers help

1) There are man yforms of end game content to partake in after completing the main storyline in all 3 campaigns, as well as the 4th release comming out soon thats lvl 20 content only. There is also PvP if your interested.

2) There are still many people playing all 3 campaigns, and if you get into a good guild they can help you with anything you need.

3) You can talk to those people via wisps, guild or alliance chat or meeting in a pvp area which is accessable by anyone from any campaign.

4) I've never played it, but highly recommend guild wars, its an amazing game.

5) Guild wars 2 beta only starts in 2008, so the actuall release could be anywhere beteen then and 2011. So why wait so long?

6) I have a nightfall buddy key (access to nightfall) and an "epic trial key", Which gives access to both prophecies and factions. They both offer 14 or 10 hours play. Let me know which one you'd like

1) ok i have been playing GW for 2 years and have not for a second lost intrest... there is always something else to do.

2)i still play GW proph and factions and all of em cause each game has its appeal so you will still find thousands of people playing each edition if not more.

3)yea there is noting that stops that.

4).... maple story..... wow..... get gw for the sake of your gamer cred lol

5) GW2 is quite a ways away and it will be very diff then GW1, so get gw1 and enjoy for 2 more years then get gw2 and use hall o monuments and be happy ^^

1. Most move on to pvp, but their is high level end game content. Hard mode lets you re-do the main missions against l 20+ monsters after you have completed a campaign.

2. Most noobs are going through nightfall, which has more people. You can still get groups in the previous 2 though.

3. yes. PvP islands are available to all.

4. YES. maplestory is massive fail..Get gw for the sake of your sanity.

5. gw2 is a bit far off, but suit yourself. Its your money

1.) Well, Hard Mode is unlocked when you complete a Campaign. Hard Mode is a world apart from normal mode difficulty-wise. But, the rewards are far greater as well.

Also, before Hard Mode was implemented, you still had a lot to do, assuming you didn't roll a new character:

-acquiring max/elite/prestige armor <takes some work>

-elite skill captures

-acquiring in-game titles

-PvP

-helping other players

-going for Masters on all Missions if you haven't already done so.

These are some things that come to mind. In very many ways, the game doesn't really start until level 20.

2.) I own all 3 campaigns, and I find plenty of people in all 3 campaigns. Understandably, the latest/greatest has the biggest draw.

I am bringing up my second Ranger via Prophecies and have just raised a Warrior in Nightfall and I have several Factions characters, so I don't see any issues.

3.) You can trade/chat and group with anyone in the world game as long as they are in the campaign you own. And, of course /whispers are universal.

4.) If I recall, isn't Maplestory a 2D Flash game? Correct me if I am wrong... Guild Wars is simply the classiest, high quailty free to play game on the market. You pay upfront for the campaign and their are absolutely no gimmicks in place to try to get you to pay more. Unless, you count liking the game so much you want to play other the chapters.

5.) GW2 is a long ways off. Also there is a huge, global Guild Wars expansion (not a Campaign) coming out before GW2. There is also an incentive to garner Guild Wars titles to "take" with you when you start GW2.

6.)Try before you buy is a great thing. When you get a trial key, download the client from here:

Dont get the first game please!
Get Nightfall then get the next expansion FYI (Eye of The North).
You can do ALOT of stuff in EoTN to unlock things in GW2.

TRUST me Nightfall and Factions are ALOT better then the first game. I like it don't get me wroung but I think we need to give it a major gameplay update.It's waay too easy to beat the first time.In HM is where it's fun

It's all a matter of personal opinion. I like Nightfall the best, Factions the least ..... by a long shot.

Well, I love the hell out of Prophecies. All 3 campaigns have a different pacing and line of progression, I like the variety. Of course, I think everyone should own all 3 campaigns.

In my opinion, Prophecies has many strengths:

-It's a perfect campaign for a first time player because you will get to learn the game before relying on Heroes, etc. It starts you out in one of the best starter locations of all three games.

-The Missions are fun, the ones you don't like you can generally skip, if you wish.

-Prophecies can actually be more challenging: Max armor isn't available until Droks and Heroes not available until LA if you already own Nightfall.

-You can travel around without doing every single mission or running into blocked gates all the time.

-You don't have to buy skills with skill points or gold because many quests are skill reward quests.

-The story is epic and your character's journey is epic. The various settings: Green Lush Pastoral, Seared Devastation, Snowy Mountains, Wet Jungles, former Sea that is now a desert, and Islands of Fire.

i concur Prph is by far my fav. the story is great and it was the game that made me love GW. i have to say too presear was a great experence

the thing about Maple story is that you basically grind your way from lvl 1-100. If you like that you will not like GW as the lvl cap is 20 and u will be stuck at 20 for the rest of your life. Maple story is also about time spent = Leetness, ie the more time u spent upping ur lvl and getting gold to upgrade your gear the faster you are able to kill the monster. GW is not like that. Your armor stats, weapon dmg and so on are the same as every tom dick and harry.

I think Kuldebar hit it straight on: Prophecies is the best way to begin. But there is a thread about "Players on a budget: which GW should I get?"

I guess I'm kind of anal about starting at the beginning... Prophecies (first chapter) is a great way to learn the game.

About end game content - that tends to be a hard one to answer.

There is PvP and many end up there. I can not tell you very much about it as I detest organized PvP so take what I am about to say with a grain of salt.

You have the "easiest" called Random Arena (RA) - teams of four randomly grouped. You simply press "enter mission" and - well - you enter and have at it. This I have done some and it is OK. The problem is that some people rage quit if they do not like the team. I really wish they had more of a "free for all" - basically a PvP town where everyone was on a team of one, though alliances could be made using on-the-fly "private channels" on chat - ah well.

Next you have Team Areans (TA) - you create a team much as you create a team in PvE. That's pretty much a Guild team or a Pick-up-group (PUG). In my experience it is hard to get a group until you get some experience, but I have VERY little experience there. Usually a bit more strategy as you can control teams.

You then have Heroes Ascent - effectively larger scale TA where you go through different maps to finally hold the "Hall's" - this has a PvE effect and the chest rewards for doing so are nice. For the non-guild-only PvP this is the highest level.

There are also Hero Battles if you have Nightfal - you and your hero team against another similar team - I know very little about these as I have not read much about them and do not play them.

Lastly you have Guild-vs-Guild (GvG) which is arguably the hardest. You have ladders, tournaments, and some *really* good teams out there. Being a guild of one person I know almost nothing about them.

Now, on to what I do.

To start, I've never really liked other MMORPG's - it was always irritating to me to have to pay a monthly fee, yet *we* are responsible for creating content (or that "content" is grinding more EXP so I can get another attribute point and do a little more damage - that isn't content, if it was then simply having exp_for_next_level=2*exp_for_last_level with each level adding 2% damage would have infinite content and be ther perfect game). I liked the vast open worlds and meeting random people there, but there was no real game there.

End game PvE in GW is something between traditional MMORPG's (grinding out titles in GW) and having story areas to complete. Though the story areas do not take *that* long to go through if you have a good guild team (for those like me that hench/hero everything it takes quite a bit of time), there is a story there and some neat repeatable quests. I have an easier time grinding titles out if there is a decent story to go along with it, even if I have heard it many times.

Plus I would say that the classes are fairly evenly balanced - there isn't one class to play to blow through the game and another if you want a challenge. Plus each class plays through the game different - heck different roles within a single class can play wholly different. I have ten characters - one for each class - and each one is a different experience going through the game. I never feel cheated because some class is gimped unlike most other MMORPGS.

If you want my opinion on GW, I can count the number of games I have over 100 hours on one hand - no other game over 150 hours. I now crossed the 1300 hour mark. I have more than one character with over 200 hours - more than I have on any other *whole game*. Of course, your mileage may vary.
