Drok's Run for Rangers
Eldin
Any idea how to do this?
I've tried various builds on Guru, though none seem to work. What is the main method these days?
I'm shooting for, at the very least, 90% of Tyria explored. I'm at about 86.8% and, not counting little nooks and crannies I'd rather save for the end, the most noticeable thing I'm missing is the Drok's run (or rather, Lornar's and Dreadnought. I've cleared all of Snake Dance simply through fighting).
Let me know how I should proceed. Thanks!

I've posted a thread below about this.
But basically, the build is:
Tactics: 12
Wilderness Survival: 14 (with hat + sup)
Expertise: 7? (can't remember off the top of my head, not in GW atm so I can't check. Basically your left-over points here.)
Dodge
Zojuns
Serpents Quickness
Charge! [e]
Shields Up!
Balanced Stance
Whirling Defence
Troll Unguent
The basic idea behind the build is to tie Serpents, Charge, Shields Up, and Balanced together. You use these skills as a combo, one after the other, when trying to run through a mob (you have to use Balanced last, or else Serpents will be covered before you use it on charge and shields up). What this achieves is basically a 40 second Balanced Stance, as well as double Charge and Shields Up.
If you'd like, I can show you the run in game, provided I'm not busy. Whisper me when I'm online.

Try R/D with Dodge, Zojun's Haste, Storm Chaser, Vow of Silence {E}, Fleeting Stability, Pious Renewal, Mystic Regeneration and Vital Boon. You'll want a staff with +15 energy and any % Enchanting.
Not 100% sure of attributes, but 12 Earth Prayers, 10+3+1 Expertise and the rest in Wilderness Survival sounds about right. Wind Prayers isn't important - you only want Pious Renewal for hex removal.

You have probably already considered this but what about fighting through lornars via Snake Dance? also how can u run Lornars with a R/W as u have no hex removal?

It's fairly time consuming to get through Snake's (even if I start at War Camp), and I can't run snakes because I will be useless in the fight-through areas ahead. Dreadnought's, I've only been there once, there's like two massive mobs of giants...

Tank the hexes out or avoid them, it's fairly easy to run out wammos
Though, I like R/D much bettter:

You aren't running through, but need to cover every part of the map for the cartography title.
There's a trick that'll let you teleport henchies/heroes over to were you are, so you could run, teleport them and then let them fight. Would only work once per map though.

Sorry, I am running. Got Tyria already.

I think he meant [wiki]Pious Restoration[/wiki]

If you're only at ~87% and only plan to get 90%, you might as well look for other areas to uncover, as I'm sure you have a huge chunk of the map that you haven't been to...there are much easier areas to run than droks :P

You'd be surprised. In all reality I actually am really missing nooks and crannies and [formerly] the drok's route (fought it with henchies, got a lucky spawn in Dread's).
At this time I am mostly focused on the large areas, and intend to save painful nooks and crannies for the end.

Aight, here's my opinion. If you really wanna get your title, just fight your way through. Sure, it'll take longer...but running Droks as a ranger is sooo frustrating.
R/W - - This build has good speed and prevents knockdown. However, no hex prevention or removal, and limited healing. One hex and BOOM! Dead.
R/D - - Yay! With vow of silence and a +20% encantment mod, you get about 6 seconds worth of hex protection. Whoopee. This build offers good healing and prevents knockdown. If you are 100 percent convinced you're going to try to run Drok's, this is your best bet.
R/A - - Shadowform offers ample hex protection. If you somehow manage to survive once your health drops, you got no knockdown protection.
R/Mo - - With Mending and Holy Veil, you get a little healing boost and can get pretty far before they hex you, giving time to smite the hex...but you got no KD protection.
I decided to leave the task of running Droks to the Dervs.

I can also run it as r/rt r/w and r/me...
and the capable build of the r/w is focused on being able to TANK when getting hexed... so not 1 hex and BOOM dead *_*

Wrong. So very wrong.
The idea of the R/W is to TANK the damage. If you get hexed, chuck Whirling and Troll up, and you can tank forever. with a +10 regen, you won't die easy. I've tanked through 3 groups of Ice Golems and Pinesouls, one group after the other, and I ran though 3 barbed traps, getting crippled AS WELL as hexed. And yeah, I came out alive.
You've obviously just had bad experiences with using the build, because I know it can EASILY tank through hexes. If you know how to play Ranger, that is.
