Hi, Poki, thanks for that advice to use google to search this site. I just wanted to see if this issue still remains for everyone or just some people?
I've started playing Guildwars in the last week and have come to appreciate this site with its wealth of potential knowledge stored amongst its many users.
The only problem is finding that info, if the search funtion is not working, which it is not, for me and many others that i see posting saying something to that effect.
One thing i have noticied is that it appears to return keyword results for the last 24-72 hours but nothing further back than that, irregardless of how i set the thread cutoff date to in my options.
Im sure the SA has a reason to use this 3rd party forum search tool, but as mentioned above, vB search itself has worked fine for me on large boards. Then again i dont know if its related to the DB or server itself, as there appears to be issues with the load anyway.
Finally, i know this is my first post, but could i suggest that regulars here cut people a bit of slack atm if they do post something that could have been searched, simply because the search function does not appear to be working atm ;P
Cheers all, a great site and i look forward to contributing over time.
edit: lol it marks edits almost instantly..just a sp correction.
edit: ok im seeing results from up to a couple of days back

In addition to the search function not working at all, or only showing a very small number of posts, the 'New Posts' funcion is also not working. It returns no posts for me, when there clearly are dozens of new posts since i last logged on.
I know this must be frustrating for the admins, we arent trying to pick on you, but merely find out if you agree that this is a problem and if you are aware of anything that you can do to change it?
Or if you revert back to the vBulletin search rather than board tracker, if that would improve things?
Or is it related to the server speed itself..? I cant remember right now, will check later on a site i have admin access too in vBulletin, but i wonder if there is some sort of timeout feature within the board itself, or another setting related to searches that would cause this.
Either which way, we would love to hear from an admin cheers.
Heck, it could be that only some of us are experiencing this and the majority of people can happily search away :P

I'm relatively new to these forums (but not to internet forums in general) and I never have been able to use the search successfully here. It gives no results on search terms, even when using advanced search on all posts in history.
I also notice that many of the forums are not listed in the advanced search.
Has the search delibarately been disabled or crippled because of the performance issues that a search gives for an already overloaded forum?

I see I'm not the only one who experiences problems...
First of all, I don't "have permission" to search for all my posts or threads started using the link in My Profile. Surely that should be allowed?
Second, since I _don't_ have this permission, I have started to add the random word simsalabim to all my posts, in the hope that I could then search on this word. Of course, searching on this word returns nothing

LOL! Classic mate :P hehe
Yep, i believe that a number of search functions, such as searching for user posts, have been turned off by the Admins, in an attempt to reduce the cpu load on the server which is already overstretched.
The only thing i can suggest is to do what i do and make sure you subscribe to any and all threads you post in and or have an interest in following. Then via your user panel, you can go to 'show all subscribed threads'
Hope that helps a bit. I dont think there is anything else that can be done until Guru gets enough money to upgrade their server.

The search function is still majorly broken. What is the reasoning for breaking search with a 3rd party broken software? vBulletin has perfectly great built-in searching ..
What's the eta for fixing this major bug?
You can no longer search for your own posts, it only returns a max of 2 .. ... and sometimes it returns none.

... ... vBulletin search was disabled because the Guru server couldn't handle the stress search put on to it as the forum grew.
