Me again, with the same bug-when I try to run guildwars it says it can't write to the location. I need to be an admin (I am), being writing to the correct location (I am) or have enough HD space (And I know modern games are a hog, but 160gb should be enough)
This time I've been doing some digging. It appears that the gw.exe is busy doing something or being accessed, because:
1. When I try reinstalling it the uninstaller doesn't delete the .exe
2. When I try to manually delete it, it says it's either doing running or being used by another proggy
3. When I copy and paste the guildwars folder and try to run it from there, I get the same problem-that's right, a fresh copy is also apparently suffering from points #1 and #2.

2. Did you restart your computer and try reinstalling
3. Did you end the gw.exe process in task manager
4. Disable any antivirus/spyware you have during installation of GW
5. The game is less then 4 gigs in size so you are fine
6. You can try process explorer
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...sExplorer.mspx
and see what using it.
7. if you are installing from a CD try just downloading the client
http://www.guildwars.com/support/downloadclient/

1. XP
2. Yep, no luck after a fresh reinstall
3. Tried this, not listed in the processes section.
4. It's only started doing this recently-the anti virus has *never* interfered with Gw before. And yes, but to no avail.
5. I know that.
6. Again, doesn't appear to be in the list.
Since I posted, I've restarted and tried reinstalling, but no luck. I then re-logged in and shutdown Teatimer.exe (it's a registry protection utility that comes with Spybot S&D) and now it's working. Can anyone else check is it's Teatimer.exe that's doing this?

I use tea timer and have had zero issues, maybe a registry setting was getting blocked or tea timer was just blocking gw without prompting

Hm, then assuming it's not Teatimer I wonder what could be causing this...

I also think it is caused by TeaTimer, due to the fact that I was having the same problem until the program was disabled.

Yeah, it is teatimer.exe, that issue been around the forum now and then. There are some updates that teatimer seems to allow and others it messes with, no idea why though.
EDIT: Re-enable teatimer.exe after updating though, that way your internet protection isn't down longer than necessary.
