The next big celebration
Jaythen Tyradel
The New Year is here.
Wintersday is past.
Many people have stated that they like the events.
There are others that mentioned that they didnt care for them all that much. Either from content or how it was played out.
More evets like wintersday and halloween are sure to come, but would be the next big one? and what would be the suggestions to make it the best event to date?
Valentines? not really a event for the world of Tyria that I see happening.
St Patricks day? maybe...dwarven ale flowing from fountains sounds like a cool idea.
Easter? too religious to some and easter egg hunting seems cliche.
What event could we have?
The one year anniverssary of Guild Wars.
Beta event endings randomly throughout the day. Gwen attacks, gnome attacks, and events to show how crazy and fun the developers could get.
Free gifts that are similar to what was handed out on the halloween or wintersday event.
LONGER TIME PERIODS. yes. I read the threads where people missed out on the wintersday event. So lets ask for more time for the next event so more can enjoy.
Worldwide (tyria) events where quests and specials things happen in almost every major outpost or town.
What say you??

Indeed yes.

Longer time for the events like 24 to 48 hrs to give everyone a chance to get hats or what ever being given out. Or even instead of the Gods/Mad king come every three ourss changed it too every 2 hours they show up. Since many people have to work, have kids or have plans to do other things to make it easier on them with more flexibility for all players.
I feel bad for people that missed out to get their Yule hats/antlers
Edit it would be even better to have it every hour so people can get their items and for all their characters easier. Or have a bigger time delay for the districts so people can log out and log back in with other char without the mad dash switching districts to get what they want in time. So some people won't spend all day infont of their pc waitng for 3 hrs changing accounts to get their char their items.

id rather have Anet stick to JUST halloween and chrismas, because it takes time for them to set these up when they could be making new patches or fixing the game or working on the next chapter.

No way, gotta have a one year anniverssary event! Give everyone a foam A.Net logo hat :P
As far as bugs are concerned, the game is amazingly bug free most of the time (congrats to everyone at A.Net for that), but I'm sure that everyone notices that when an event is coming, bugs *do* take longer to squish.

My guess would be nothing for a while...
I guess they could have one for Spring break and turn the whole game into one big beach... or whatever it is you people do these days

A Spring/Easter thing would be my guess.

I agree that the focus should be on fixing problem areas and working in the next expansion pack.
WHo knows...maybe there will be beta weekends for chapter 2 content with ending events that many of us missed out on.
I am suggesting the one year anniversary for it seems the best even to look forward to without trying to make up something that works within the world of tyria.
To keep it in the fantasy realm..even though we may have to wait till after chapter 2 comes out...are there other holidays (real) that would work?
or
How about we make up our own holidays that work though the events of GW.

guys, i bet they already have most of the content for Chap2 done by new year, or maybe even chrismass....
by now, its usually playtesting and bug-hunts ^^
real hols...hm..take the pagan calender then, since most of them have non religeous (ie, christian/islamic/yewish ect) connotations, mostly connected to nature.
(by the way, if your members of said pagan or celtic, a few notes on what the holidays and festival are about would be usefull and welcome heh i just have the names and dates)
Imbolc (january 31st/eve of febuary 1st)
Spring equinox (march 21st)
Beltane (april 30th/ eve of may 1st)
Sumer Solstice (june 21st)
Lughnasadh (july 31st/ eve of august 1st)
Autumn equinox (september 21st)
Samhain (october 31st/ eve of November 1st)
obviously the summer and winter solstices are festives of great importance.
we've had winter with wintersday.
Samhain was halloween (thats where the church got it from, they just made november 1st into All Saints day and turned october 31st into a night to stay home and be good little churchgoers)
spring equinox would be a planting festival, so can tie it to Melandru (being godess of nature and forest n animals ect)
maybe Imbolc could be a Grenth festival (since its still winter, maybe have it last grip of winter death befor spring?)
summer solstice would be a good time to have a summer party and do stuff with all the Tyrian gods.....summer being a easy time. not autumn, when theres harvesting to be done, so your bussy, and not spring, cause theres too much doing with the planting..
then there would be the days and festivals belonging to the specific deitys of the world....Feast days and Festivals for each of the tyrian gods....
and dont forget the Kings days and so on that would be area specific...like Regents day in Ascalon....
also, they need to make these events take place in more than just Lions Arch.
yes, its a good reason to shift yer butt to that area and get there with your characters, but it puts a strain on districts.....
i mean, my friend told be there was almost 60+ french districts on LA on new years eve...
if they seperate it up into 3 main areas...Ascalon, Lions arch and Drocknars forge, it will mean theres more choice, and everyone can join in.
also, they need to add some of the holidays to pre searing.
*yes, i know its the training ground, yes i know people shouldnt hang around there froever....*
see, the way i figure it, some people are always just starting out, might not have a second charecter....why should they be totaly left out?
acepted, they dont have to have everything the rest of us have, but come on! are you telling me they dont selibrate Wintersnight back befor the Searing? 0.o
having a small amount, maybe just the decorations in Old Ascalon and a few, maybe 2 of the holiday collectors in the main town will encourage these people to get going, cause there might be something even better later on in the game....
(and its just one area that would need decorating, and maybe one area instance that needed monster drops tweeking)

Valentines day? Collect chocolates and stuff.

St Patrick's Day? Most definitely not. We would then have to have something for St David, St Andrew and St George, not to mention all the French Saints days.
I am glad there was no Thanksgiving event, as virtually no countries celebrate it.
In my opinion, if you are going to do "Holiday" Events, it should be something that is universal, not celebrated in one or two countries.
A better idea, in my opinion, would be to have Tyrian festival events, which do not relate to any dates or events in the "Real World," and are unique to Guild Wars.
Just my 2 pennies worth.

Getting rid of the trade channel and get something usefull to trade would be plenty of 'holiday fun' to me. Not to mention the christmas things, especially the decorations in the towns were really cheesy. I shudder to think what they would do to lions arch with valentines day.
