Hi first of all, I am new here to this community, and so far what I can tell is that most of you are like 10 times more computer literate then me so I figured I would ask you this.
My problem is that ever since the 2nd or 3rd week of factions, I would get this insane lag that I have never heard of from anyone else. I would go into the game, and everything is fine for about 30 seconds, then I freeze up and all i can move is my mouse. Then same thing again happens after it unfreezes. So then after NightFall came out I bought it hoping my problem would be fixed by that, but nothing. It never does disconnect me, but it makes it to where i had to quit playing. If anyone could hellp me with this problem i would greatly apprieciate it. Oh and my graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.
Thanx In Advance.

When you say all you can move is your mouse, do you mean you can move the camera in game or everything in the game is frozen but you can move the mouse like you would do using other programs?
If you can move the camera, then your problem is rubberbanding and related to your internet connection.
If everything freezes then your problem is related to your computer. If so, post full system specs please.

My problem is everything freezes besides the mouse, the camera and everything,
I have a dell Dimension 4600 (yes i know very old)
NVIDIA Graphics Card GeForce FX 5200
1.5 GB of RAM
And anything else you need just ask.
My guess is that i just need a new computer.

Hi IattackU, I've had the same problem, and tijo may be right, the problem is probably rubberbanding. It can happen in many cases such as a high latency connection (which causes your ping to skyrocket), your ISP may have problems on their side, or your computer may be experiencing problems. It may be wise to call your ISP for support, or check your internet connection.
I hope this little bit helps!

Gimme Money Plzkthx
What type of modem do you have, and what are your fps and ping when this happens. I'm not sure whether you're talking about a computer freeze/lock up, or rubber band lag/dc.
IattackU
Im running of a linksys modem, and i had to connect my computer with a switchboard. (long story dont ask) I will go log in and check my fps and ping when this happens and will tell you.
Edit
My fps is spiking for 3- 30.
And my Last ping goes up to 1,348, my average ping is in the same area.

It's possible that your gw.dat file is badly fragmented. When mine gets that way, I have symptoms similar to yours until my computer is able to pull all the data off the hard drive. One way to check is if your computer has a hard drive activity light (it usually looks like a small cylinder). If that's lighting up constantly during the freezes, then fragmentation is most likely the problem.
This thread has a good explanation of how to fix the problem. (It's stickied at the top of the Technician's Corner board.) You might want to try running the built-in Windows defragmenter first, just to see if it helps (it's under Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter).
Unfortunately, GW's automatic update feature makes it really easy for the file to get fragmented, so you might have to run a defrag periodically after big game updates.

The problem is I have already done what that link says, and a windows defragment, and it still happens, I might call my ISP this week and ask them. I think I just need a new computer, I do anyways, can anyone suggest a computer under $1,500.00.

Hm... do you know if the defrag left you with one single file, or was it still partially fragmented?
I'm not sure that you need a completely new computer. One of my friends was running the game on an older machine than that for about a year -- the framerate was a bit choppy, but it was playable.
If you're ready to upgrade, though, that would probably be your best bet.
