As posted on the Guild Wars Wiki last night: In monitoring and assessing the ATS over the last few days, the dev team identified specific potential improvements to the system. These improvements did not require a "Live Build," therefore there was no in-game notification and there no Update Notes were published. However, we do want you to be aware of these system improvements, which were effective at approximately 7:30 PM Pacific Time on Friday, May 11th. The changes are as follows:
  • The top 25% of all players who participate in each tournament instance will receive Tournament Reward points, rather than just the top 8 players.
  • Guilds and players will no longer receive Qualifier Points or Tournament Rewards Points if they forfeit on the first round.
  • Teams in GvG Tournaments will no longer be required to retain 6 out of the 8 original players throughout the entire tournament.
  • Players will now get their Tournament Tokens refunded when withdrawing from a tournament.
We will continue to monitor and appraise the ATS, and will of course be reading your feedback in looking at other changes, updates, and improvements in the future.

= more people with Tournment Reward Points = more people with PvE Skins in PvP after rewards are implemented?

It's a conspiracy!

Good start. We'll see if there is further disincentive needed in order to get rid of all the forfeiting teams... Personally, I think this will be needed, but this is a step in the right direction anyway.

I have a question, sorry if already answered somewhere:

Will be the wins/loses in Heroes' Battles reseted every month or something? I am really curious about that! because I wanna play without suffering too much if I lose.

This is quite possibly the best thing anet has done in the past few months. That's been one of my biggest concerns regarding the elitism of this AT system, but now more casual guilds are able to participate.

I believe that means in each of the 3 daily tournments, individually, not the whole 3, nor the monthly tournment. We played 2 of them today, and we kept the same 6 people, switching in/off another 2. It was rather annoying because we have players who experience timed lag issues (yeah, don't ask), so we need to put them aside for someone else eventually. Anyway, that's a good change, gonna make it easier if you can't stay for 2 hours.

the k-value of the tournament seems extreme considering that top 50 guilds are getting matched up with 500+ranked guilds.

Most tournament instances are smaller than 32 teams as 32 is the maximum size for Daily GvG tourneys. They're more often around 20-28 teams. So this update is in fact a 'nerf' and means that less players will get the Reward Points, true?
25% of 24 teams is only top 6... whats the point of such a change?

The rest updates are very good though.

I think she means 25% of the HvH-players, those tournaments have a maximum of 64 I think.

Anyway, it's looking better, now just stop giving qualifier points and reward points to anyone that forfeits.

The 25% thing is because the minimum people for a HB is 8, so everybody get prize because top 8 players got, right?

And about "no longer be required to retain 6 out of the 8" is because some guilds (even hight rated) ended adding heroes for play.

I feel the current system tend to favor too much high ranked guilds. In a normal rated gvg if a guild is stronger than mine we have the advantage to play in our hall.

In current metagame hall means a lot, a good condition pressure for example is much stronger in jade or burning isle than in ice, where the home team sure have a split team. I'm not saying "ok we're in ice they split we resign", any battle can be won with good strategy and skill, but nevertheless, home team have the better hand.

This system works well. In ATS you applied the opposite contrary.
Guild halls selection is random, and that's questionable but ok, we play in a random map, it's a matter of luck (i don't like it but it's reasonable). The wrong thing is that the ATS system announce in advance what maps are in play and in what order.

My guild is average, we are normal ppl, we're not koreans paid to play in shop malls, so we have decent skill and we can play well only one or two build at a time. I find tremendously unfair to give the opportunity to guilds that can play all builds because they have 10 hours a day to play to choose the best build to play in each round of the tournment.

Imho you could:

1- make it like rated, wrost guild play in his map. drawback: a good guild could loose points in unrated to play in his maps the following n tournments

2- make the maps random. drawback: you remove the synergy in teambuilding related to maps, it's alll just random

3- choose some maps when the tournment start. players have 1 hour to choose a build that adapt most of the maps (oh god, ice, warrior, ranger, wizard, jade! ok guys prepare your split build). The order of the maps is random, repetitions possible, over a uniform distribution. So i can adapt my build but i have to keep in mind that i can play an heavly hall-dependent build but i could end up bad (in the previous example i would select a split but i must keep in mind that i could end up in jade an perhaps be prepared). Drawbacks: i like this method, you tell me

4- Ignore me and leave it all as it is. Drawbacks: a three-day rain of frogs on your buildings.

Have a nice day, comments appreciated.
