What if their was a arrow count?
Issac
What if you had to buy arrows instead of having an unlimited amount. What if you had to buy them for a certain amount of gold. Would you still enjoy playing your ranger rr would you hate it. Or would you like it because it gives a more realistic touch to it.
moko
PVP anyone?
this game isn't about that, breaking weapons, buying arrows and shit -- it would suck.
if it was PvE only, it would still be a very annoying thing -- at least i'd want other weapons to break then if i had to buy arrows. :P

I hate every game where you have to spend all your hard earned gold repairing your armors, weapons, shields etc. and when they break you can't use them. It is a bad concept for a game imo and would make rangers not bother ever using a bow if they just liked the look.
I hope that they won't go that way in gws 2 either.

GoodEnoughForMe
That would turn off a lot of people from being a ranger, especially if they were the only ones who had to pay for normal weapons. It would be a terrible game mechanic.
Sir Mad
This idea was brought about 1 zillion times and always received a negative feedback.
Tell me, how much space would you have left in your inventory after having packed enough arrows for a full FoW B/P run?
EDIT - In a word, I'd hate it.

Nivryx
id like it, less barrage anyone?
Amy Awien
Bad idea, unbalanced since (1) makes the bow only weapon to require maintenance, (2) it means rangers have less inventory space for loot (and thus, make less money) and (3) rangers have additional expenses and thus less money for upgrades.
ColaManiac
if arrows were off-hand, had cool skins (storm and zodiac arrows FTW), but still unlimited. then yes...
but if there was an arrow count, it would screw the rangers to the extinction

I personally think that if special arrows were made into an off hand it would be interesting and fun. Such as instead of having fiery bow strings, why not make fiery arrows and etc for other things. It would have to be tweaked of course so things wouldn't get over powered but it seems like a legitimate idea to me. And of course the fact that these off hand arrows would have to have a cool look to them
Mist Walker Skarloc
Very nice idea. Screw 20/20 bowstring, have bodkin arrows! Also, Urgoz's Longbow should come with similarly skinned arrows :P
Cirian
Limited arrow supplies are just a tedious and unnecessary hurdle to jump through in what is, after all, a fantasy game.
ll KiyoTe ll
I like the idea of each different bow skin has a matching set of arrows. But they should add a quvier(how ever you spell it) thats strapped onto your back. And mabey arrow upgrades? example, Barbed Arrow head (increases duration of bleeding by 15%??) or is there even a skill that makes a cut for bow???

I would be poor then.
Eldin
Your old uncle Eldin would be in fugly collector's armor with one of those longbows that looks like a hairclip.
In short, please no.

Would be nice if in GW2 you had a ffxii system though, you have arrows as a seperate item to equip and as such hold their own properties, such as cause burning on hit etc
and before people mention balance issues keep in mind GW2 is a completly different game and could use very different mechanics.

Will cost much money for newbs.

That's three words. Four if you count the contraction as two. :P
I'd only be up for this if they also added console commands so you could just cheat and re-add them to your inventory. Along with a sword that insta-killed. And 25 billion gold.
Point is, the more you try to make this game like other games, the more it loses what makes it a good game.

limited arrows would cause alot of issues, like running out mid way through mission and then effectivly becoming usless. It would be a gold Soak that would hinder Rangers and Paragons very much and leave others relatively uneffected.
Ranger would become rarer than mesmers, most would turn to only trapping and paragons would stop attacking and hide in the back doign a shout now and again (non adren ones)

Others ... I know .... read spells from scrolls that can be used once ... or maybe you can learn them, then after using them you have to rest before they can be used again ... wait ... I've seen that before
Teh [prefession]-zorz
if that happened to my ranger, id uninstall...
.Unanimous.
in order to even out the classes with this they'd need to charge paras for spears and also make all toher classes weapons break so they had to buy new ones every now and then, for fairness.
Bloodied Blade
While we're at it, let's give monks talent trees, underpower their healing, and give them a "shadow" tree that restores energy...and warriors can get a skill called "Mortal Strike" that cripples healing, and...wait, that's WoW.
In short- no, limiting the number of arrows would destroy what is great about the ranger in this game.

GoddessOfMetal
I've played other games in which archer type characters had to buy arrows. It was tedious and basically made me frustrated because not only did I have to keep replenishing my supply of arrows but, it also counted as weight that I had to carry around (which would be horrible for my small in stature ranger).
The reason I fell in love with GW is because I wasn't limited in playing my ranger by worrying about if I had enough gold to obtain my arrows or if she would be able to carry the weight of them.
In summary- Don't fix anything that isn't broken.

I agree with what everyone has said about having an arrow count that needs restocking, its a gold sink that we don't really need.
However having the game count the number of arrows your character has fired could prove interesting. Especially if there is a title involved.

It would be unfair. This is one of the first games to not make archers pay for arrows... what a concept huh?

Yeah, also make an NPC that you could pay one plat and someone comes over to your house and kicks you several times really hard on the nuts. Both great ideas.

Another thing about having limited arrows...what group in their right mind would ever want a party member with only a limited amount of ammo? With limited arrows, rangers would be pointless.
Risa
Well, it'd make rangers the most expensive class, I can't imagine getting a ranger out of pre with arrows needing to be purchased...
However, if the arrows didn't need to be purchased, I agree with a previous poster that making arrows offhand items could be pretty interesting. Though, it might make using preparations seem a bit..odd.

If you think it would be bad for rangers, imagine what it would be like for Paragons.

It is a bad idea. Not bashing your try to get it into GW but it is a bad idea in general. Same as it is with needing ingredients to cast your spells (like certain roots, herbs etc) or having to repair your armor and weapons. Same as with having to take care of food and water.
Most people that are pro consumables argument with logic (the next time someone brings up logic in a fantasy game the world is gonna go bluescreen of death). For some reason carrying thousands and thousands of Arrows, weighting 2000 pounds is more logical to them than carrying unlimited arrows. Yes, beats me too.

What about having a warrior need to buy another axe head (5k)
and Arrows cost 10g a piece? thats 5000 Oo
And Spears need to buy a new spear head etc
