Worst party EVER. Joyous rigged many of the games.
I won hide-and-go-seek. And people vouched for me, but he gave the prize to the 2nd place.
The next game was. "Trivia" and the question was, "What's my favorite sport?"
Liekwoa, waste of time.
Edit: Sorry for the double post, wasn't paying attention. :\

Great event, quite a few people turned up after a while, main problem was a lot of running events and people were using Sugar Rush to cheat, apart from that great! Won one event so far and intend to come and see you again soon!

Uh, I spotted you, so I started to run "to your exact point." When I was about 15 paces away, you said, "Everyone is disqualified" because someone called out your spot. I finished my run and didn't stop until I was completely overlapping you. The guy who won was atleast a second behind me. I'm not trying to be a sore-loser, but tbh, it was disappointing.

He's there right now. o_o

A few tips on making a good event for everyone:
Please please PLEASE have one post that clearly states the time and place of the event. With your time zone included (if you're in England, I think it's GMT).
I've been reading through this thread, and it seems all your information is littered here and there in short, small posts which are hard to piece together. Edit your first post or something to have updated event information on it.
Give at least a week of prior notice when a new event is underway, if possible. That way more people will be able to come. Even two or three days is an acceptable time if you're impatient.
And to be a little more credible, please at least try to keep this thread organized and not spam a new post every five minutes. Again, there's an edit button on each post. Posting two words every five minutes really makes you seem disorganized and, frankly, like someone who is a little over-eager but has no idea what they're doing.
Using proper grammar helps give you credibility as well, if you're looking for donations from people. People like coming to well-organized events that have clear information posted about them.
That being said, I think I might come check out the next event if there's enough time to prepare beforehand.

Well spoken Perynne, a good piece of constructive criticism. It should be taken for what it is and as a reference for future events. qft

... So some guy decided to hold an event because he had too many gold items.... and yet is somehow asking for gold donations to fund something that we don't know about...
... And he holds competitions based on running around Lion's Arch and dancing...
... in a thread riddled with the most attrocious selection of AOL-chat-typing I've seen in quite some while... to the point of being effectively illegible...
I mean... WTF?
If I had too many golds, I'd sell the good ones and merch the not-so-good ones ... or maybe just give them away randomly.
... Common sense.... cripes.

The guy also attended the DVDF party (and couldn't stop using the trade-channel). I think he picked up the idea there.

I was going to do another event for the Americans next weekend because most of em didnt come because of mothers day in america.

It's not that people don't appreciate the gesture, it's just that people are getting scammed everyday. So you can't blame them for being careful when it comes to donating stuff.
Btw a lot of countries celebrate mothers day, so it's not only the Americans who missed your event. Better use the international district.

Well you see here JP, it's the "DONATION" bit that's what get people going. You want to do something nice in game, good for you but only if all those stuff are coming out of your pocket. Why don't you ask for donations from your guildies instead of some 3rd party sugar daddy? This way noone will question your motive.

JP, people past a certain age (and that includes me), are suspicious by nature. Don't feel demoralized over it. Live, learn and adapt.

Also for future references, JP,
When you do an event, make the thread look VERY formal, organized, and have a lot of people who can back you up or help you out. If you look at the masquerade, it was VERY formal, and had lot of info for every1 and had a lot of help. A little bit of an advance also.
It's nice to see people trying to help out, but just know, people will always bash you if your event, "isnt organized or isnt fun."
It's the thought that counts.

Well, personally I probably would have attended the event....if I had known about it. I have to agree with Perynne's statements. This event wasn't very organized and we were given almost no notice.
From your posts, I'm guessing that you are very young, so I'm not gonna start flaming you. Rather I'll offer some constructive criticism. You can choose to ignore it, but just realize that most of the flamers here are flaming you because you've already ignored some good advice offered here.
1. Give plenty of notice of your event. I don't check forums on the weekend, so I saw your post this morning. I'm sure there are lots of others who would have attended if they saw the post earlier.
2. Work on your spelling and grammar. Your posts will be easier and more pleasant to read and understand.
3. Post all the relevant details about the event in your original post. Your first post didn't even mention the time of the event. If you need to change something later then post a reply but also edit the original announcement.
4. You've asked folks to donate items for the event, yet you got mad when folks accused you of scamming. Why should we trust you? You are brand new to the forums, so personally I feel that you have no right to ask for donations yet. Hold an event and gradually build up a reputation here. If you are trustworthy, you'll quickly make friends and word will get around. This is what made the Masquerade a success. The organizer was trusted and folks did not mind donating stuff to him.
5. Someone here replied and accused you of rigging the games. I wasn't there so I don't know if the games were rigged or if he's just a sore loser. It sounds like there was some difficulty running the games. This is where a little pre-planning and coordination helps. Design all the contests you want to hold ahead of time. Get help from your guildmates. Do a trial run of some of the contests with guildies if necessary.
That's all I have to offer. Basically it's just an organized post stating what others have already tried to tell you. Don't read it and continue with the whining "nobody loves me, everybody hates me" attitude. Instead learn from your mistakes and organize another event.

The reason people are suspicios is just about anyone can come on and do what you did only run off into the sunset with all the donations...
Got to agree Perynne, orginisation and formality will do you alot of good. And get some people to help out as well
