this weeks topic. Should Guildwars have playable dwarfs?
Yes Yes I know.....they (anet) will not say there are playable dwarfs yet to avoid the WOW vs GW flack. But i for one would like to play as one. Anyone with me?

Yes we all know that WoW created dwarves as a race and that they were the first to make them playable in a game. Enough of that BS already. Dwarves would be cool to play because it would give variety to the game. It is kinda lame that everyone looks the same. If you were around back then remember what it was like before Factions came out. There were the 15k armor that the rich people had and there was the 1.5 that everyone else had and the only thing that made you look different was hairstyle and color.
Anything that will make the population in GW less repetitive is a good thing i.m.o.

I would love to see dwarves as a playable race. Always loved the short stubborn guys. If they really wanted to say it was a rip off of something, wouldnt it be more appropriate to say its a D&D rip off? D&D predates WoW by a long shot, and even WoW would be classified as its ripoff too then.
But, yes, dwarves as playable would be great.

ArenaNet said they weren't adding Dwarves as a playable character in GWEN or GW2. Then why make this topic?
A typical "weekly poll" topic usually consists of "how often do you play Guild Wars?" or "What are you most excited about in GWEN?" The OP poll is the equivalent of dividing by 0: It can't happen.
Shouldn't be in the off-topic section in that case? (which would make sense, since the OP is apparently an off-topic mod.)

Anet said there would be more playable rases anounced later, i believe most people would want to play as dwarfs. this poll should highlight that nicely

EotN's story is based around the conflicts each race has with the Great Destroyer. The storyline of EotN will also impact the way we think about the world in GW2. At least we know the Asura and Dwarves have to deal with him. The fact that the dwarves are pivotal to the storyline may be a great factor in them being a playable race; but may also be the same great factor that makes them unplayable.
That said, I can see me going through GW2 'along side' the dwarves in whatever efforts they made (similar to Prophecies); but I can also see those efforts being a big chunk of GW2 making a whole area big enough to make them a 'playable race' (for a 'race starting point' or whatever if they bother).
Why have dwarves? We have the Asura, marking a diminutive race; and the Norn, marking a stalwart warrior race. Keep in mind; each race has a 'characteristic and catch-phrase'. If Asura are "inventive and condescending" and Norn are "Individualistic, stubborn and unrefined," then dwarves would make a decent balance between them and the other races with something like "Determined, Resourceful"
Norse mythology and Tolkien really set some boundaries, so I think ANet's doing a great job stepping outside the box just enough to keep us coming back for more. I don't want a Norse, Tolkien or WoW Dwarf, I want ANet's dwarves just how they are; playing as one would be even more tantalizing.
