WTF Am I Cursed?
6am3 Fana71c
Ok, now here's the deal. I was soloing Gates of Kryta and outside Bergen Hot Springs on hard and very nice items were droping (5+ golds, tons of purples and whites, lockpicks...) I used a standard Mo/D build, and i was doing 1-2 runs per day, nothing special. But now, only shit is droping to me. I do whole run (south side of Nebo Terrace + whole Cursed lands), and i dont get even a single gold item, or lockpick. Even purples and whites drop less, i was getting about 5K just for selling all that merchant food, but now i dont get more then 2K. And, i repeat, no golds. I repeated runs to be sure, and now i can confirm it: i am fuccked up! I don't know why is this happening. YES, i turned on Hard Mode. And NO, i didn't overfarmed, i did 1-2 runs per day. And YES i tryed many times, and i always end up with no gold items and reduced amount of other items. If you want i can do run and post shots, if u dont believe me. I just put this thread up so somebody can tell me wtf is going on, or is this happening to some1 else too...

You are not cursed, ANET never really removed the farm code like they said they did. Get used to it though, ANET is always saying 1 thing, but doing another.
Crazyvietguy
Yeah, im pretty sure they forgot to take out the anti-farm code or put in a weaker one.
Destiny2097
ive seen gold drops drying up recently too. even tried doing duo runs around a few places today since that is supposed to net us better runs but not 1 gold drop in over an hour of farming various places, although i wasn't totally pissed cos i was testing builds who knows what code they are sneaking into these recent small updates
Rainbird
I've been seeing something similar in the R/Rt margonite runs lately, the farm code seems to be alive and kicking
Mesmer in Need
Ive realised this also. Im afraid anet is a big fat liar, and when they said "Repeated map entry no longer reduces loot." they didn't mean it.

As for all of you guys saying anit-farm code is alive, i repeat, i was doing this only 1-2 times per day, it isn't a big deal. Some random guy i talked to today in Bergen said he does about 5 runs/day and gets at multiple gold items per run.

They aren't lying, the drop rates stays the same no matter how much you farm. Also, there are many places with good drop rates, such as the Underworld, bosses, and colossal scimitar farming.
onerabbit
i guess ur just ... unlucky then
Covah
They reduced the areas where lots of bots are. IE> Bergin.
rohara
i'm pretty sure they removed the anti-farm code. i've been soloing bosses in HM like crazy trying to get tomes, and no matter how long i farm them...they keep dropping the goods.
Jcon
try this, do the show of force lightbringer farm, or any other farm that u can do a party of 8 and still achieve what you wanted. After a few runs, your drops may reset. I've been doing this with my necro and the zehlunah farm, and when my drops dry up I go back and find about 5-8 good runs before they dry up again.
Elnai
Repeated map entry no longer reduces loot. Maybe thats true, but perhaps its just like killing monster X reduces loot from monster X. Anet needs to straighten this out.
Turbobusa
they just removed the text message, so its not totally a lie >_>
I've seen my drops reduced to crappy white items too

:'( Happened to me too... I got in late on the farming craze and i was getting atleast decent drops... (not as good as people where saying) Since then i've been getting worse and worse drops every run. Even now Gates of Kryta doesn't even give a gold each run. I've tryed just about everything to try and fix it and it never works. A-Net lied -.- i'am with Turbobusa in thinking they just removed the text message. Or changed the farming code to something else...
drakun01
I can't remember the last time Jade Brotherhood dropped a gold for me >.<
It definately wasn't 'removed' persay. I think it still exists in different form.

The farming code is definiteley still there. I quit for about a week after I started getting shitty drops. Logged on, OH America has favor during the morning, hopped in, 5 ectos in a 15 minute run.
ryanryanryan0310
I agree the code is still up and running. Was getting crap so I toke 3 days off. Farm for 1 hour today got about 25 gold and 7 dyes, farming different places. Sadly they were all crap but improved my wisdom title.
NEOgeo
there is no farm code , repeated map entry or even kiling the same monster type doesnt reduce drops .. what does reduce drops in an area is thousands of ppl farming the same area, find a better farming spot imo
Satans Dominatrix
I really doubt the code is still up and running. Me and my friends both have notices a much higher drop rate of high end golds since anet removed this code.
Some people just have worse/better luck than others.

I get reduced loot from repeatedly entering dreadnoughts drift, and I clear all but 2 groups and maw. It has NOTHING to do with how many people are farming in that spot, or else dreadnoughts would give me 10 golds ever run, not just my first 2-3, then by run 10, I get nothing but blues and whites.

where's your evidence of that? if we listen to anet about the farm code being gone, we also need to take into account that they've said that the number of people farming an area doesn't affect your own drops since you have your own instance.

im not sure... think the new code is something to do with killing enemies at the same time, if u take 1, 1, 1 ul get more drops maybe, or still unsure is the time theyre alvie affects what they drop. jsut guesses... btw anet suck.
Etta
yeah i stop going there now as well, not worth it anymore. This could be a hush hush nerf on the drops to counter the botters there, or anti farm code still there, I don't know. But the drops are getting worst there.
Abnaxus
I've also experienced a significant reduction in the drop of gold items.
I farmed Zehlon 2-3 days and at the beginning it was beyond any imagination, I remember a run in which I got 5 gold drops. Then the drops started to reduce, but not before I was able to find my r9 colossal ^^.
Then I did Gates of Abaddon, and after that I moved to Bergen and again the 1st day it was awesome, got a r9 15>50 dead bow and tons of other golds.
Now in both areas I barely have 1 gold per run, normally 1 in Bergen and 1 every 2-3 runs in Zehlon.
So there are 2 possibilities in my opinion:
1. A.net has decreased the drop rate of those areas, because they realized they were too easily farmable. In this case the drops reduction will affect every player, even those who have never farmed there.
2. Anti-farming code is still in game, maybe in a new version.
In the case 2. I think that this "new" antifarming code is related to the character and not to a specific area.
In other words, if you intensively farm an area with a character, you trigger something that marks you as a farmer, and your drops start to suck whatever area you farm.
In my experience, doing a mission or two still resets the antifarming.

You are maybe right. I just speaked to my friend, she said she got nice golds at teh very beggining of Bergen farm, but she is pretty new at that farm, so maybe her drops will eventualy dry too, like mine had. Maybe that was intention of Anet, to everybody gets golds but only couple of them, for personal use, and not a TON of them, making deflation even deeper.

BURN THE WITCH!
Everyone gather in Bergen Hotsprings at Midnight with burning torches and pitchforks!
[And on a more serious note:]
As for the Anti-Farm code...
... A-Net didn't remove it, but then technically speaking they didn't say they'd removed it.
They only said that zoning in and out of an area wouldn't influence drop-rates..... and sure enough it doesn't. You can kill just the first enemy in a zone over and over and over.... and it won't be any different to if you go on a vanquishing spree across the entire zone once.
My Monk is effectively proof that this is true, as she will not try to take on the Astralarium Corsairs if there is a Grub Lance in the way, so she'll zone in and out until she gets the Preying Lance... I've also tested with my Necro a few times by zoning in and out of various farming areas when she doesn't have the code active to see if it triggers, and it doesn't...
BUT ... the Anti-Farming code is still there, and it WILL reduce drops over time, the more you farm... It seems to be more based on actual farming progress... i.e. how many non-scaled items you get. Start off farming and you'll get loads of golds and whatnot... and within a few runs all those golds will have dried out and it will take a LOT of normal playing to get them back.
I have reason to believe it is now specific to a particular area to some extent though... I mean if I farm Byzzr Wingmender a few times in Melandru's Hope, the drops dry up... and I notice I get nothing if I try entering from the other side to farm Chkkr Brightclaw..... and yet if I switch over to Maishang Hills to farm Kappa, I get quite a lot of golds at first, and then that dries up too....
... And so on and so forth...
The safest sort of farming however seems to be when you farm out an entire zone and kill over 50% of the enemies.... like Fahranur, the First City. Much respect to the guy who suggested that, though not for the reasons he initially intended.

I started farming a few days after HM came out, and i NEVER got as many gold as people where saying. I got maybe 1 gold per run and a few purples in GoK mission in HM. That was the first time i did the GoK missing in HM and since then it keeps getting worse.. Now i'am getting purples and blues and maybe 1 gold every few runs....

Psychologically speaking, you're better off just blotting that from your mind.
Just pretend you've never farmed before.... find a new spot... and start the grinding. You'll get golds eventually somehow... and THAT is the point from which you should probably start paying attention.... until your luck expires again.
There is almost certainly still farming code of some sort there, but though the old code could be beaten by playing normally for a while, I can't totally figure out the way it works now. I have guesses.... that'd be all.

From my experience:
Killing things one at a time will improve your drops. Things like EoE, SoJ, Spiteful Spirit all have a good chance of having stuff die at the same time (or close to each other). Try using builds with Sliver Armor or Spoil Victor and your drops will get a lot better (see the "cantha's finest" thread for a more detailed explanation).
Killing the same thing over and over will reduce your drops. If your killing Corsairs and your drops are going sour try moving to another spot and killing something else (Undead GoK for example). You can stay in the same spot and you'll still get golds every now and then but you won't see the same amounts of purples, blues, whites, and coins.
This is my experience and your mileage may vary.

1-2 runs? Thats nothing.
I been farming that pretty good ( like everyone else ) and on average I get 1.5k a run.
I know we all want a great place to farm where you only go a few times and make mega cash. But in reality if you want it, you got to work for it.
I do 20-30 runs and still get lockpicks and golds. Just takes longer.
Plus with all the bots there its all luck of the draw. You get good runs and bad runs. But just making a comparison on 1-2 runs isn;t enough data to start screaming to the gods.

I stopped playing for a while because of the same reasons.
I have done over 200 runs in Moddock there.
I did around 20 runs daily for the Factions W/Rt farming for two places - Outside marketplace quick 6 Knights farm, and the one with the Assasins. Must have done them for a week or so.
I haven't even averaged 1 gold item for every 2 runs. Even the HM chests during the Sin farms have dropped purple composite bows (got 3 of them). Most of the other gold items have sup sin runes...which are well worth nothing.
Taking a break now, playing LOTRO, something different, something fresh.
Will come back later, and hopefully whatever ANet is doing to calculate drops has improved for me.
Those getting the nice plat sowrd drops in the same runs, well be thankful for your luck.

I also had a strange situation, 15 runs insects farm in HM ->> 4 golds +whites, purples, 1 lockpick. And then the 16th run I got 4 golds, 1 black dye, 1 lockpick... It is maybe a luck or the farm code is quite interesting and depends not on how many times you farm at the same area... Btw was using SS.

Oh! If only this were true...
Since HM came out I have farmed any area I can think of in Nightfall intensely, killing as much in each area as I found possible. Things were great, lots of golds, lockpicks etc. but at the end of last week I noticed my drops were getting worse. Now I feel pretty lucky if I get a gold drop in any farming run even to the point of getting purples with what I would normally consider gold stats.
Doesn`t matter where I farm it just gets worse, even the purples are drying up.
I tried the LB run with all my chars thinking this might reset the code with absolutely no luck.
As mentioned earlier the only way to get drops back to somewhere near normal is by doing a few missions (not quests) or maybe just not playing at all for a while (can`t confirm this, I like playing too much).
Also the code seems to affect the whole account and not just a single character (made a new monk farmer and drops were just as bad). So you can change chars to do a few missions and then switch back to your farming char and hopefully the drops will have got a better but beware the code seems to click back in pretty quickly.

you can do 2 things, stop farming or farm places people never farm. I am having no problem, i farm a spot what does take some time, 50 minutes per run but i have to bring a salvage kit because i have full inventory. btw avg gold items per run:between 10-15, lots of steel (salvage) and fair amount of gold.
there are more better places to farm, like uw with ele build 13 minutes work avg of 1-2 ecto, but i am bored of farming area's that is overfarmed. i solo farm for challenge.

Firstly it makes no difference how many people are farming a certain area, I can prove this by using my childrens accounts as they don`t farm as much as myself and thier rare drop rates are normal. Also at the height of the colossal farming my drop rates were normal even in that area.
I`m guessing your rates are normal because you haven`t yet over farmed if it takes you so long to do a run. Carry on and you will also notice it some time in the near future.
