Profession Creation Question
Ras the Swift Death
(Note: I didn't know where exactly to put this, so I decided just to put it in the general discussion area.)
I'm thinking of making either a Paragon, a Warrior, or a Dervish. Now I already have two characters, my Assassin and Ranger, both which I enjoy very much. And as for the above, I want to stick to at least 4 characters at a time, so I can't create (and play equally) 5 characters.
Now I'm already going to create a Warrior, but I'm stuck between Paragons and Dervishes. Both seem pretty cool, but I've been hearing how Paragons are weak. So should I just pick a Dervish or Paragon?

I'd recommend a Dervish.

Paragon's are MUCH better as a class, but after continual nerfs, people seem to think they are bad. Dervishes are excellent at Melandru's, and putting out DPS, but pretty much suck at everything else. I personally would make a Paragon, but it really depends how you play GW.

you might not wanna hear this but i really rcomend creating a caster
they are tons of fun what i would recomend are rit, ele,or nec
i dont recomend mes or monk cause they dont have the same playstyle i think you have
but between derv and para definantly para imo

You sound like a person who likes to dish damage, and Paragons don't do that (well, they can, but not as efficent as most). I'd go with a Dervish.

Alright thanks guys, I'll guess I'll create a Paragon.

Good choice with the warrior - Only class I enjoy more is the necromancer.
But between paragon and dervish, I would probably play a dervish. My first Nightfall character was a paragon, and I enjoyed it for a while, but it didn't last to long. The paragon is an extream support class - great armor rating and buff skills, but their dirrect combat abilities are not that great (in other words, they rely far to much on the rest of your team)
The dervish is an interesting and fun mix of melee and caster. You need to be careful with your skill selection though, as they usualy have very little armor, but they can be very effective fighters, and can replace a warrior for the tanking role. My only real complaint about the dervish is they are far to religious.
They also look far more badass than paragons - A robed warrior with a scythe makes people think twice about getting in a fight - a man wearing a metalic skirt makes people point and laugh.

make a dervish if you refuse to make a caster. paragons are next to useless.

I'd reccommend making a Dervish and a Paragon instead of a Warrior. I have both a Warrior and a Dervish, but no Paragon. I find the Dervish and Warrior very similar, but the Dervish is just so much more fun. I find the Warrior class more boring than every other class. When I'm playing it, I always just want to go back to my Derv or Sin, my two favorite characters, who are also melee but a mroe fun style. I would delete mine, but it is too far in the game and has too much stuff customized to it. Paragons seem more fun than warriors, but I'm not really sure I haven't played one much. They seem second boring class. If I were you, I'd make a Derv and a Rit or Ele.
There's also a Questions and Answers Forum for next time you have a question, where this should've gone.

In my experience the non-core classes [Dervish, Paragon, Rit, Assassin] get boring pretty quick. The core classes have a lot more skills and armour sets etc.
I'd go for a warrior.
I'd go for a warrior.

I say make a Dervish. You will have tons of fun with the Avatar forms and can dish out good damage.

Ok... I tend to disagree with most opinions about the paragon...but for good reason.
~they have the highest Dps (barring skills)weapon in the game... they do not lack in damage.
~they are easy and fun to play. I like playing a paragon when I am relaxing with my son in my arms.
~They can fill multiple roles in any situation. healing support, shutdown, Battery, pressure , straight damage.

and sadly... yes.. they do wear skirts..

Wait! If you like playing melee damage dealers... AND liked the ritualist...
Be a ritualist!
[skill]Spirit's strength[/skill] would allow you to switch to a melee-type character if you want as well, it's a flexible profession

Dervishes are awesome. They have this avatar of balthazar skill that make you a running god. You can pretty much run anywhere with that!
Paragons are good too, but people don't like them as much because they don't know anything about them.

Go with the Paragon, I enjoy them more. You get a good ranged attacker with some party buffs. They are a little slow to start out, but more fun, IMO.

Interesting statement that... Name another class that can make every attacker set their enemy on fire for 2 seconds every 10 seconds? Or that can make every attackers next critical hit cause a deep wound?
hmmm... Yeah, Paragons are useless indeed!!!
I'm a necro nut Ras, but I would suggest you decide this on what you like to play... up close in the enemies face, or supporting from the backline... I have a Paragon that I like to mess around with from time to time, tho playing them gets pretty boring after a few missions...

I'd advice you with paragons, but you should try a caster.
Paragons are extremely good and can do alot of things well, great damage, great support and both at once if you want, dervishes are boring, very borning, and the good skills that dervishes have are the overpowered ones.

Works well in other situations with many martial damage dealers. Watch the saccing and spam adrenal shouts. The attributes are flexible. ghostkai
read crimson's article then make a paragon, you won't regret it
