I think it's easier to go this route for capping stuff like Feast of Corruption or Earth Shaker.
Except that takes about 5 minutes for each match and after you finally have your 2k you have to wait 24 hours then do more 5 minute matches until you have another 1k faction.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather take 45 minutes from the first day and just go cap it, getting gold, xp, drops and possibly decent rare weapons and runes on the way.
I don't see how either of those caps are really any problem besides maybe how long it takes to get there. Then again it's still faster than farming 2k faction a day.

I'm well aware of how easy it is to beat them. I've one it when I've gotten bored.
My point is it will take you over 24 hours to get enough faction for an elite compared to the 1 hourish time it would take to just cap it.

Meh.

I just use normal tomes that I farm myself to get all the good non-elite skills.... then when I want to get the elite skills, sinc elite tomes are tougher to get.... I just buy signets of capture for like... 80 gold, 90 gold, etc (because my character never bought skills through the first time, so the price never went up).
Just did it to get Mind Freeze for my Water Elementalist. 80 gold Signet of Capture FTW!

Plus I don't need to PvP to unlock them.
My Assassin is an obsessive skill-hunter. He is 2/3rds of the way toward the Legendary Skill Hunter title... and has an obscene number of ordinary skills of various classes besides.

So you don't want to cap skills in PvE, yet you call yourself a PvE'er?

Sounds like someone's too lazy

Too lazy? I'd say his method requires much, much more afford than normal.

What do we call people who work too hard for something that can be obtained easily?

I wanted shockwave on my ele the other day - I had the choice of either
1) Spending 30 mins in zaishen elite
2) Spend 20 hours grinding through factions to get to the boss

Guess which I chose?

And no, I had no idea either that hero skill trainers work that way. Guess I should start to actually read what the NPC's say. Well, nothing groundbreaking for my characters, but hey, free skills anyway.

Here's a thought. You have played a particular class/classes to death, have all the elites, but now you want to start another class for which you have no or very few elites for.

Is it so wrong that you can get an elite/elites for that new class by this method rather than waiting until you get to the area in which it's available?

It's still going to take you more than 30 minutes. Granted, you can spend the next 24 hours after that totally inactive, but whatever.

I doubt very much any cap in this game takes 20 hours to cap. And even if it did, that's still less than than farming the Zaishen. Apparently you're going to have to grind either way. Maybe the faction farm is the better choice for you, I never said there couldn't be exceptions.

And I see you're talking about Faction's skills *backs away quickly* I want nothing to do with them.

Yeah well. If you wake up one day with an urge to make a new monk character, and then you feel a rush to get Restore Condition for your monk immediately on that day. I guess this is the only way to scratch your itch.

But....seriously.... Do you REALLY have to? Would the game be *unplayable* for you (or anyone) without a skill? (Elite or not.)

There are two conditions which could ever possibly make me consider using one of those elite tomes...

1-They drop considerably in price so that they will be a convenient way to grab a skill I need for a test build without investing too much time when the build could be a total failure...

or

2-I happen to get ther right one in hardmode (no way i'm buying one at these prices) and I need to cap something in [email protected] Mineral Springs. I swear, I'm never going back there, not in a million billion...what's that? I have to go back to do defend droknar's forge with my characters that haven't gone through prophecies yet? Oh drat it all...fine, so there's only one way I'll ever use an elite tome...

Actually, if you play it right, which it's not too hard to, you get, 40factionx8 + 50x2 for flawless, that's a net total of 420 faction per run. which means it takes about 20-25 minutes per day to get that amount faction. of course if you regularly pvp or plan ahead, it's not a problem.

20-30 minutes of mindless 4v4 against a dumb AI is alot faster than 45 minutes of climing through snake dance AND dreadnaughts drift. assuming you don't have to run to camp rankor and you don't have to do any missions to get there. If you need to get through a bunch of missions, quests, and running to outposts, that adds alot (hours) of time.

ps- 5 minutes is a highly conservative estimate, assuming u don't bring a random build with nothing to interrupt enemy self heals. If you bring like distshot for the heal sig n stuff it takes about half that time. (just timed it) this includes clicking on the menu and the coutdown before and after the match. so you're actually looking at about 10-15 minutes.

of course if you've unlocked it another character, it takes all of 0 minutes.

How often do Elite Skill Tomes drop? I mean, in Hard mode you would have to farm a lot longer to get the damn tome, and then take even longer to get the 3k faction to finally get this skill for "free."

Just pay the damn 1k and go cap it. For the harder elites, wait till later, if you need it now, use the method above. Still not the best idea though.

Since many of you dislike Zinger you hate to admit hes right. The prices on elite skill tomes are about the same pricetag for 3-15 cap sigs. 1 Elite? or 3-15 elites? hmmmmm....

There for a while I didn't know you could unlock a skill then go pick it up in the main city. Say you wanted Mark of Rodgort its in ember light camp (and some other pace I don't remember.) Just go AB or RA and get 1k balth faction unlock it and go buy it in Lions Arch.

I can't belive I didn't figure that out until like 3-4 months ago

I was talking about the combined time of your 20-30 mins and the wait time after you reach 2k.
20-30 isn't a lot faster than 45. It's less than half an hour at most, but that's not my point.
I didn't say it took 5 minutes per match. The first post I replied to said it, so I used that number.
If someone finds that way better for them to get an elite, good for them. I find it a bit pointless, that's all I'm saying.
