Reasons that I stopped doing PuGs:
Tombs - I wasn't looking to pug, just happened to load there from the night before but when I was invited to a party as soon as I entered the zone, I said sure why not. I got my skills on and then went to the merch to clear some room. The monks were still setting skills when someone pulled us through the portal. Everyone says die and thusly we do cause the monks aren't ready. Next thing I know the idiot party leader is telling the whole district that I am a party killer.
I get picked up by another group anyways and things went pretty well, I rebirthed a guy in the midst of battle and he bitches at me saying "Don't rez me while we are fighting noob!" So I say sorry, I'll wait next time.... He dies again and then starts begging for a rez and we are in the midst of battle....!!!! !$%#!@)(&% Battle over I rez him and he zones out of the party.... GFG! We finished with a team of 5 and when we get back to the outpost the other idiot is still there spamming.
I volunteer my time to help low pugs and then get yelled for being a level 20 failure when their lvl 10 wammo agroes more than even I can handle as a ranger and causes a wipe... Not a monk yo and not your personal body guard.
I pug with pvp groups and I make a suggestion, I'm told that because of my rank I don't know what I am talking about.... Ok fine give me your ideas then, and they do and then it fails and they make the exact same suggestion that I had made earlier as if it were their idea.
I hate pugging! I hate henching! If I have to cap something I try to get a group from the guild or alliance, if that fails I hench. Same goes for missions and if I fail I just wait till a group is doing it! I refuse to pug any pvp stuff without at least Red along because they will listen to him.... Maybe it's a woman thing, maybe I am over dramatic, but it's better to be able to do it alone then to get into a bad pug ruining your day and gameplay. I can take lonely, I cannot take stupidity.
That being said everyone is entitled to do gameplay the way they like whether solo or with pugs. Some people do not have all day to play and thusly don't want to waste their time getting a pug together because it really is a waste of time to get everyones skills set up and so forth, but with henchies you know what they have and you can dirrect them to do your bidding and finish sooner than you would have had you been in a pug.
I personally don't bother farming SS or LB points unless someone in the alliance is doing so or we are out doing general quests or something. Titles are now more easily obtainable than before and imo hold no value since many of them can be gained by hiring someone to do the dirty work for you.

If people are really cool in real life they do not need in game friends. They would most likely find it easy to make friends, but by choice they may wish to solo in short bursts of play for the enjoyment, and not being tied to a group of 8 that they must rage when they want to go out with their friends in RL.
Dont waste youre time flaming me please, I will just report and ignore. Works wonders and is quite fun for me. Too much experience of it. Lame.

Listen, I like to make groups and participate in PuG's as much as the next guy.
Many people have different playing styles, some like to lead a whole group (Kinda hard with a PUG) And some like to use whatever build they wish (kinda hard with a PUG).. then some people dont really care about missions and do other things like talk on AIM and occasionally going AFK (Kinda hard with a PUG).
What im trying to get at is that, the above is a large majority of players, the casual players. I personally love playing with other people during a mission, YET I prefer even more doing the mission with guildies/alliance..ies.
And on top of all that, I enjoy staying in the mission, then deciding im hungry going out to eat with friends and coming back in the same spot. I'm a casual player as well as a competitive player.
You cannot criticize people for playing the way they do, it's their game, they should play how they wish.
My advice to you -> Gather a bunch of players that have the same "yay team" interest as you and create a guild "Against Automation" or [AA] for short.

Guildwars - I dont go around saying "selling watch 25k". And even though I may not be super social to other players during play. I am a very outgoing guy at my school, and have been considered "popular". So SORRY if I dont match your (obviously highly researched) conclusion about people and their video games.

FYI, i know plenty of "backwall kids" most of which are NOT antisocial by any means, most have social interaction problems but are not ANTIsocial. Most of these kids are shy, and actually thrive in popularity at these games because they can do/say what they wish without having to deal with the immediate social pitfalls that may result at school/work. I play counterstrike, and guildwars with 2 of these "losers" (as i can tell from you context this is what you're hinting at) and they are not only amazing at these games, but are popular because of it. So actually you'd be completely wrong. Okay.. you're an idiot. I consider all multi-player games "social" games. In counterstrike, not too often do I "lead my life" as I do in game. Both comments are generalizations. It is a generalization to say that you are a loner in rl then you are a loner in game; and a generalization to say the opposite: you are a loner in rl, you are social in game. He was responding to the OP, giving his opinion as to why people do or do not play with others in game.
Again, this is just my opinion. I may have misinterpretted him completely.

As stated numerous times on this board, contrary to the original post no GW is not an inherently multiplayer game if the individual player does not want it to be. It says on the back of the GW box that you are meant to play alone if you want to.
As for taking PUGers to farm LB with Show of Force, that's counter-productive. All they would do is slow you down. One time I happened to do that and the ally actually kept dying in the worms and wasting huge amounts of time. It's about 5x faster to do it myself. LOL
As for PUGs in general, they are 10x worse outside of worms, which is why usually good players will never play in them unless absolutely necessary.
I think this thread title should be changed to also include the solo statement on the back of the GW box, for the sake of those who didn't bother to read said box and be led astray by this thread title.

I only pug when I'm looking for a laugh. If it goes well, then it's all good. If it goes bad, then it's just funny. Though if you ask for help, I'll usually help as long as I don't have to travel too far (I won't do galrath for anyone I don't know).
On the other hand, if your attitude when asking for help (if its anything like from your posts here) is just plain out rude, then why should I help you at all? I don't know you, you're not even some alliance member I don't know.
I don't care if you're new, I don't care (too much) if you are just plain bad at GW, as long as you're actually a pleasant person to party with. Hell, I had fun the first week of factions where it seemed each party had about 5 assassins with non max armour. Sure, there were deaths all round, but we all had fun and still ended up finishing factions anyway.
But if we all had bad attitudes, well.... Not so fun. And it seems to be especially bad in NF. I've noticed in pugs for elona, that alot of them are either total jerks, or really have to pug since they can't get anywhere without other players carrying them. Hence my use of heros. If no guildies are on, well, olias old bud, lets go If there's someone asking for help or looking for a pug, I'll usually msg them first. If they turn out to be literate, intelligent and somewhat polite, I'll usually go with them if I have the time. If they don't answer or are jerks about it, I'll just go on my way with the heroes. Most of the people I know are like this.
Though I suppose that you at least seem vocal, which is a good thing. Half the time when I pug, they usually go straight off and then there's silence for the next 40 minutes. No conversation, no talk of plans or tactics. Just silence. I mean really, if I wanted to do something in silence, I'd have taken my heroes and got it done in half the time.

To the OP: Don't tell people how to play. There are numerous reasons why people nowadays don't pug (most of which have already been said in the pages of this thread). If you would really like to pug it, I suggest you try the PUGs and Grouping section of the guru forum. Much easier solution than making a thread that'll be a flame bait fest. Good luck to you.

When you go to a club do you ask every random stranger to dance? Would you be rightfully pissed off if some random stranger came up and tried to start a conversation with you while you were putting the moves on some hottie or having a deep an meaningful with a close friend?
The simple fact is that multiplayer != playing with you.
Find some friends and you'll never have this problem again.

even the hottie you're trying catch, is a stranger isnt she? she is, but you u still do go to her, and try get in touch...with a perfect stranger? aww cmon.
i read all this threads and seem msot of people dun seen the op like me.
i dont say people how to play, just they COULD be a lil more open to stranger or somethign else than hench.it's not like *you must pug or you're a moron*, just all pugs arent crap, and sometime give it a chance may be a good occasion have fun or get more friends.
even you gw friends, how u met them? people keep met new people in guilds, pugs, etc etc.half of people in your gw f.list are people you randomly met in game, playing with, pugging, doing missions, or talkin in cities...when they was strangers too before be in your friendlist.
now you have heroes for do missions.but before heroes how many were spending ages ina hard mission trying get desperatly a team cus henchies was too weak?lots.
you tell me you have friends/guildies for that.ok.but if u neva puged or bothered talk to strangers you would neva met these friends or even the guy who recruited you in the guild.and even then, when you rejoin a guild, you dont know all persons in, they are still strangers, but you talk to them?funny.

If GW was multi-play only you may have a point, but it is not. GW is an online multi-player *OR* single-player. It even says so on the box and in their adverts.
It is no one's fault but your own that you read half the stuff and ignored the rest.
Of course, one of the best lines in this whole thing from the OP - notice the bolded part:
I'm sure you *really* meant "if I had the quest active I would help all that spam the local channel, though I wouldn't need help". Especially since this is a *mulit-player game* and solo farming points is not the correct way to play and all those that do suck. We can chalk that up to not speaking English well instead of being, well, something else that would most likely get censored.

yes. cus at opposit of you maybe if someone ask help for somethign i know it wont be a problem, i always take him.
not everyone is noob or so freakin incompetent to the point to be scared one crap guy or 2 in my pug is too much for me to handle.
you are all so pros, but you scared 2 noobs in team for instance is too much for your leetness to get over?hilarious.
maybe im not uber leet but at last i know i can handle noob or 2 in my group, and than something like *help* isnt a crime.
ina 8 man group, u can as well ignore the 2 noobs let them do their shiet if they do any and focus on your farming.especially in shaldja where the thing can be done by 4 people.what mean even with 4 noobs in team you still can do it fast.
but generally ya. you say you are too good for pugs, but if you are really too good for some pug noob, why ur so so cared to take him over and than he make you fail?cmon arent you pro.rofl.

What is the point you are trying to make again? That people should play with other people so that this COMMUNITY survives for a little longer?
Let me tell you: If I'm forced to play this game with people ALL THE TIME, I won't be here. No matter how good everyone else in this game is.

wow I can see the french man is still angry! And I thought he would clam down after a glass of french fine wind and their awesome food last night. WA, no matter what you try or do here won't change people's mind, if they rather farm, quest, mission by their lonesome. You can't just go and force it out of them. What about your guild? Aren't they interest in teaming up with you?
Lastly I don't know what the french districts are like, are they completely empty?

Randomly inviting yourself into peoples groups is the equivilent of walking over and groping her bits.
Friend networks are created by finding people you have things in common with and whose company you enjoy, and then playing with them, not the other way around.

Well, basicly a human player is just annoying compared to a hero/henchie/friend
Why take a random guy for a thing that can be done alone?
When I come home from work, I want to play alone sometimes (Not Lightbringer farming, but I DO clear the Shattered Ravines now and then), and the LAST thing I want then is a random guy kicking against my legs telling me that I must accept him.
Sure, I miss the days where I went with good people to do a mission, but these days are over now. Now, noobs can get everything they want with a push on the button and the result is noob people with good weapons/armor.
No need for skills anymore in this game, everyone can be cranky and pissed off at another and whatever and still win. And since more and more expert players are leaving this game every day, chances are HIGH that you'll end up with a noob/leaver/annoying person/AFK-er when accepting people.

He has a point though: I didnt buy this game to solo it all the time, i bought a multiplayer game and id like people to be more multiplayer when playing it. Why not buy a single player RPG if you want to solo?

In any case, feel free to point me to the game that is as good as Guild Wars, offline or not, IF you can.

Well, you could always play by yourself in the Elder Scrolls games, Mr Cacheelma :P

Also realize that this game has two aspects to it. PvP and PvE and the "multi-player" aspect was much more evolved around PvP than PvE. You can have a full party of heroes + henchmen in PvE, not so much in PvP.

Don't get me wrong here, I play together with others on multiple occasions, but it seems as if everyone who "advises" someone to buy a single player game is only doing so because they feel the other should and not because the one you're talking about feels that way. Why on earth would you tell someone what to do with their money and what they should or should not like? Regardless of what game they are playing, they have no impact on you what so ever, because they don't play with you anyway. (no offense here, just trying to make a point )

There's nothing more fun for me than getting a great group together, and using awesome skills and tactics to make monster-goo out of everything.
That being said, I don't have to spend 15 minutes arguing with Koss that he probably shouldn't run his mending/healing breeze/power attack build. If people don't want to play with you, yelling at them and telling them they should play with you really isn't going to fix much.
