Is it a bug or a 'feature' that any touch range spell ignores prot spirit?
from the wiki
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Enfeebling Touch[/skill][skill]Star Burst[/skill]
and the 'official wiki'
PS:Enchantment Spell. For 5..19..23 seconds, target ally cannot lose more than 10% max Health due to damage from a single attack or Spell.
enfeebling Touch:Skill. Target touched foe loses 5..41..50 Health and suffers from Weakness for 5..17..20 seconds.
(we can see why for enfeebling touch, as it a 'skill' and doesnt deal 'damage'
Star Burst: Elite Spell. Target touched foe and all nearby foes are struck for 7..91..112 fire damage. If more than one foe was struck, you lose 5 energy.
but again here, inconsistent... deals damage, and is a spell
so why is it BOTH skills go right through prot spirit?
touch spells and prot spirit

that's what I thought too, I tried it again targetting the sickened servants (ele) in minister Cho's estate mission (there's one immidiately following the menagerie. I pin everything back, swap to 55 armor, get PS and aggro. Servant runs in, starburst, bam dead. There's no enchant removal, just goes right through it.
Get this though, [skill]Vile Touch[/skill] IS reduced... yes it's damage but it's a skill, not an attack or spell.
Edit nvm the 'official wiki' has vile touch as a spell now... which would make it exactly the same as star burst.

Most likely, you were hit by a phyical attack that striped enchantment with the Afflicited Necros spamming Order of the Aposty (which can cause enchantments to be stripped but won't show up in the "reccently taken damage" bar since its done indirrectly). You have to hide behind walls and kill the necros first to eliminate that.
As for the others, shadow (enfeebling touch) and life drain damage (like vampiric touch) are not reduced. Vile touch is reduced because it deals cold damage.
You can always tell if ps will reduce the damage by the wording of the skill. If it says "target is struck for/takes xx damage" it can be reduced. If it says "target loses xx health" it bypasses protection spells like ps.
If you are solo-ing, then Starburst will be reduced.
For PS to be active, you must be the target of the spell or attack.
If Starburst isn't used on you but you are in the aoe range, you will not be protected.
The aoe damage is not consider a spell.
Notice the wording of PS. For it to work, you must be the target of the spell or attack. Therefore, if a firestorm was fired on your friend and you happen to be in the aoe range of the firestorm, PS won't work.
The 2 things that negate PS are Life Steal and AoE.
If there is an error somewhere, please correct me. Thank.
