Or even better, take a seperate command paragon (Morgahn = perfect), and take splinter wep on the ranger.

To answer your questions:
Faustus the Eigth has given you some good ones. Othes are Judge's Insight and Mending Touch/Mend Ailment (depending on what campaign you have).
To get a pic in this forum:
[skill]type skill name[/skill]
You need the brackets, the words skill and the skill name inbetween the [skill][/skill].
Not sure about editing the account, perhaps clicking on your name?

As Faustust mentioned, Splinter Weapon stacks beautifully with Barrage. At Channelling 10, up to four Splinter Weapon hits trigger in one Barrage attack.
I recommend Dodge instead of Whirling Defense for protection. It blocks fairly well, gives a speed boost, and takes half as long to recharge.
At Expertise 11 or higher, you might also consider Savage Shot as your interrupt skill instead of Distracting Shot. Energy cost will be reduced to 6 or less, it recharges faster, and it does more damage.

As mentioned before: splinter weapon is incredible with barrage, but make sure to pump your channeling to 12 if u go splinterbarrager. Also you can use conjure X, or mark of rodgort.
Ivan Aidrann
Conjure Flame works well for added dmg, but using mark of rodgort consumes alot of energy. It works well, just be sure to wait for your energy to recharge first after using conjure flame though

the best 2 non pet barrage builds are the splinter barrager that uses splinter weapon+barrage packed with interrupts, self heals and defensive stances, and the go for the eyes keen arrow barrager packed with anthems, other defensive shouts, interrupts and whatever
when making a barrager you should note the standard build:
[skill]barrage[/skill] bow attack(marauder, keen, or whatever) Interrupt(distracting/savage) or both, damage boosters from secondary(conjure, splinter, GftE or whatver), defensive stances(whirling defense and lightning reflexes are 2 of the better options), self heals(troll unguent is the best) and perhaps a res

Skyros
In my non-pet Barrage builds I usual go by a simple set of rules:
1) Barrage
2) Savage Shot
3) Distracting Shot
4) [Increase Attack Speed skill] - (I like lightning reflexes due to its dual nature as both IAS skill and a defensive skill on a reasonable recharge time) It's main use is to shorten the "cast time" of Barrage which = more damage.
I bring both of those interrupts cause I think they are practically a must on almost any ranger bar. You can disagree with me though IDC.
Skill spots 5-7 can be used for Splinter Weapon, Judge's Insight, utility skills, area specific spirits, or pet skills if you EVER decide on being a B/P ranger, Sig of Cap., etc.
Skill spot 8 should be the res skill (Flesh of my Flesh, Rebirth, Res Sig, Sunspear Rebirth Sig, etc.)
EDIT - Although you could fill one skill spot with a Conjure X enchantment, I'd go against that due to the fact that it is so easily stripable and that if you devout 7-9 attribute points for a Conjure and it gets stripped, you lose a lot of DPS in that span of recharging the spell. But if you are every in a area lacking in enchantment removal, go for it.

I've actually found a Flame barrage to be useful in just about every area in the game. Hell, I even found it more useful taking down Djinn than winter or conjure frost. With a Fiery bowstring it gives nice dps and keeps the enemies toasty. That and the splinter barrager I find the most useful.
And follow what Skyros said about D-shot/S-shot. Those are the basic ass-saving utilities anyone who plays a ranger regularly never goes without. If someone asks you to do something that takes those out of your build, give 'em a swift kick in the Jimmy.

My normal Barrager build used Conjure Frost, did pretty good damage and was fun to see twice the amount of yellow numbers pop up
I personally might decide to go R/P got [skill]"Go for the eyes!"[/skill] and [skill]"Find their weakness!"[/skill]
