Well, hi again and sorry for another noob question.

It has been 2 weeks now since i have started guild wars: Factions. The first char i made was a W/Mo which is now 20 and i have gotten bored of playing him. I found that it was really repetitive using the same skills and bashing over and over again, so i decided to start a new char and see if i like him.. but which prof?? i would like to create a char that is fun to play and not repetitive all the time.

I was thinking assassin but i don't know?? I think rits seem pretty cool but still don't know either, i like AB battles alot and team arenas.

Help wud be nice XD

Thx in advance

It sounds to me that you are looking for char that's a bigger challenge. Now which char you choose will depend allot on how you play the game. Do you like to be in the middle of the battle or stand on the back lines and do damage from far. What I like to do is I try all char so that I know what their weaknesses and strengths are. So when you play against them you know how to take them down. And you also learn which types of char's you like.

Assassin is very nice, but you have to do certain spells in a certain order. You do a Lead Attack, Off-Hand and Dual Attack. If you are interrupted your screwed, but if you like the "surprise" people this is the char for you. Assassin is also better for PvP than PvE, because you do spikes which are focussed on one person at a time.

I have never played Rit but what I read about them, they are very powerful and a bit of a underdog. They can heal and do massive damage. They are a bit complicated to play, but it sounds like it's all about good timing. They also do very good in PvP.

My personal fav is Elementalist. You can use fire magic and nuke the hell out of people from far and don't get a "scratch"!! Or you can play Earth Magic and have a lot of armour and take allot of damage, or you can slow people down with Water Magic. And I also like Mesmers, because you can give people allot of armour ignoring damage (well, you played Warrior so you know that Mesmers are your Kryptonite). Mesmer is a very challenging char to play, because you can't do any physical damage except with your wand or if you use the spell Illusionary Weapon.

If you want to read more on diffirent proffessions you can go look here. http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Profession

Good good...You're slowly learning Wammos are bad.

If you didn't like the repetativeness of the wammo you'd hate the sin...which is generally lead..offhand...dual....rinse and repeat.

Ritualist is very interesting and can be very effective if used well...certainly not your run-of-the-mill kind of profession. It can take some time to fully understand what it can do, however.

My vote is with Ritualist.

Have you tried using other builds for your warrior ? (to be honest I've never actually played a warrior, so I don't know if that will help stop you being bored)

I suggest you play an assassin to at least unwaking waters, simply because that will force you to learn about how aggro works in guild wars, which can really help all your other pve characters. Playing a monk for a while will help you learn what kind of behavior makes their work difficult, as such behavior will generally result in them no being able to keep everyone alive.

Play around with the other classes, see which ones you like.

Oh, no. You've started another profession popularity contest.

I have seven PvE playing characters, all profs except ele, sin and paragon. My most played, in order:

warrior - I switch her weapon set (when I get something interesting) and build, so she isn't bored
mesmer - her build switches constantly according to job or area (she also has three sets of armor); mesmers are great fun to play but require a lot of practice
ranger - another versatile prof - interrupts, traps, bow attacks, beastmastery - all requiring different playstyles

My dervish is getting a lot of playtime as I try to finish NF with her, but I don't find the prof that interesting.

For the others, year-old monk still in Maguuma Jungle, 6-month-old necro at Yaks Bend, and year-old ritualist (as I recently discovered when I logged her to check her b-day present) hasn't done the first mainland mission yet.

You need to try different professions until you find the ones you like. And remember that in GW, life begins at level 20.

I'm going to have to throw my vote in with Ritualist. Ever since Factions came out, they have quickly became my favorite spellcasting profession (replacing Mesmer). They can play the offensive and defensive roles very effectively, and are never boring to play.

Of course, I wouldn't be a good Ranger if I didn't suggest you try the greatest profession of all. Rangers can play arguably the widest array of roles in the game which means you'll never be bored. They have great value in any team, and as a bonus, they are the swarthiest looking characters in the game. This is, of course, a biased opinion coming from a primary Ranger player, but hey, it might just be your thing as well.

If you think rits look cool I would give them a shot. All professions have their stregths, but having played significantly with 8 of them, I would say that Ritualist is one of the classes that allows for the most varied play, and is one of my favorite classes.

basically anything except paragon or mesmer and you should have fun. those two prefessions are basically useless in PvE.

My Vote goes for either Ritualist or Ranger.

Ritualist because they work as a good monk while also doing as much damage as an ele sometimes.

Ranger, because females look sexy in 15k Druids!!

Try playing a female warrior.

You say that you got bored. Maybe think about what your rl personality is. For example, I enjoy playing a necromancer, but pretty much anticipated that I would even before creating it; because I prefer the darker things in life.

The professions also have a kind of built-in personality to them, and if you find one that fits then you may be less likely to get bored within two weeks.

If you're looking for a challenge (which it sounds like you are from your post) I would say go with Necro, Mesmer, or Ranger (not so much, but an interrupter is invaluable in any situation). All of these professions are very annoying to play against in PvP if used right. Also, if you want to play the polar opposite of a warrior, play monk. Nobody in their right mind would refuse a monk (unless they have like 5 already and realized they need offense now) and it's definitely a different experience going from an offensive character to playing a monk (worshiped when they win, instantly blamed when they lose, but don't worry about it, you can't win them all).

After about 2 years of playing, my most played char is an ele. Tried a ranger and didn't really take to it, also have a fair amount of hours as a mesmer.

Now I've finally rolled a warrior and I'm having fun being in the frontline instead of midline/backline.

Btw, getting to lvl 20 is just the start. It's what you learn in terms of skills/secondaries and how you put them together that makes the game interesting

Ele gets repetitive when you use the same attribute all the time. Try a different line - air, water, and earth use different playstyles than fire. Most people who play a fire ele, like it for the visual effects and the sense of blowing things up.

If you want to find a character that won't bore you, you need to experiment. Reaching level 20 is not the goal of this game; it's the end of adolescence and the beginning of deciding what you want to be in life.
