Since the chests were introduced to get players some gold and gold items by playing through the game they should be added to Tyria and Cantha.
Especially since Loot Scaling was introduced. Players without Nightfall get about 25k less gold by playing through the campaign just from these keyless chests.
Not to mention they reset, the formula's still being investigated in Cracking the secret chest formula.
This would allow players with these campaigns to get some more gold for skills, runes, ID and salvage kits.
It would also help to renew interest in Prophecies and Factions. Retain Interest in Prophecies Campaign
Keyless Chests for Cantha and Tyria

I opened most of the chests in cantha and they didnt do me much benefit. I maybe made about 5k max from selling them all to the merchant.
I dont see what huge difference they would make to cantha and tyria. We already have new chests in HM in all campaigns, so they would be a bit redundant.
And personally, I think the renewl aspect has already been covered with HM. It made me replay Tyria and I enjoyed it.

You can get around 25k in gold from all of the chests. The first ones are around 500g and the latter ones are around 3.5k. 12 chests comes out to about 25k.
This gives characters in Elona an unfair advantage over Tyrian and Canthan.

I just dont see it as something we need.
Want more free stuff?
Good luck with that... *Laughs*
Though all that stuff about finding the treasure while playing through Nightfall is bollocks. I've found a grand total of two of them with my Assassin... and yes, he has completed Nightfall. He just happened to get one at some random location in Vabbi... and another in Nightfallen Jahai while farming Lightbringer Points.
I have no clue where any others are.... packed into the obscure nooks and crannies of the game that you wouldn't bother investigating without being wall-grinding for the GMC most likely.... but then I never was in the habit of paying attention to things with yellow text (since in Prophecies they didn't do anything at all).

All chests once were free, but chest runners got that killed since they were making too much money from it.
Anet later added in a couple of special chests that were openable free however these too were removed since chest runners where abusing them.
Anet tried Again in NF with the idea of having some secret coding behind them to refill them now and again and gradually reduce quality of drops.

For the record I didn't even know they existed TO research them until I was well into Vabbian territory, and even then I wasn't sure exactly what had happened and wondered if I'd had a key and opened a chest manually without remembering.
It wasn't until I was in the Desolation that I read of someone talking about some hidden chest reset that I actually realised what was going on.... and by then I realised that I didn't really care at all. After that I found just the one.... in Nightfallen Jahai....
And honestly, I can't really be arsed to find the rest. It doesn't get me a title, nor does it guarantee any items of use.... nor indeed any significant measure of gold.... so why the smeggery should I go out of my way to hunt them down?
They are treasueres and are currently 'Nightfall' specialty, like Tyrian Skill quests and Canthan insane exp rewards.
But would be somehow good to export them to other regions... they are something interesting, that brings people to some places that otherwise they may never go to and have a closer look at them.
(Speacially the Do Not Touch ones)

Actually tyria DID have a few... 3 I think... freebe chests, that often had purples in them with a rare gold. Plus tyria had the free chests during the original launch prior to key system... The 3 freebe chest, 2 in shiver peeks and 1 in the desert, were changed to quest items chests as I remember cause they were being massively farmed... Not 1 time a month per character, but like 500 times in a week in some cases... so they HAD to go...
As far as I know Cantha, never had any freebe chests to offer... I would not be opposed to it if it was similar to the Elona ones... 1 time a month, per character, (I actually think it should be per account if they added all these extra chests, but celavie). However tyria, could implement the freebe ones again pretty easy just by activating the ones they nerfed, and adding the elonia timing system to them...

However they could add them back under the NF system.

You were complaining that you had no idea where the treasures were, so you werent going to waste time looking.
I gave you a link telling you exactly where each one is. But now your complaining its too much hard work to actually go to those locations.
Its like trying to leed a starving horse to a field of grass, but the horse wants you to bring the grass to him. Is it actually possible to make you happy Soti?
When I first found out about the treatures, I instantly went to guildwiki and found where they were. It only took me about an hour+ of running around to those locations to get most of them.
Assuming you have most of the map uncovered, then it should be no work at all. Most are in really easy places to reach. Its only the yellow sand zones which are a bit trickier, but thats only about 3 or 4 treasures.
But yeah, I cant see previous campaigns being updated with this. If you consider that Tyria is a much larger continent, it would need alot more treasures then both elona and cantha. I dont think Anet would put the time into doing that.

And why would we want the exact same stuff in other campaigns? Couldn't there be room to other cool bonuses?

In the time it takes me to get to the chests, I could have got twice as many golds farming in Urgoz's Warren.... if I felt so inclined.
If I happen to randomly come across them while going from A to B then sure, I'll open them... but why the heck should I bother searching them out when my time could be better spent doing something more profitable AND repeatable?
Widen your perspective.
I'm not so desperate for freebies that I'd pounce on every little thing someone left lying in a corner somewhere. If I was that desperate I'd hang out in Shing Jea all day with low-level characters and beg things off charitable souls to sell in Kaineng for profit...
I'm not.
These chests really aren't a big deal... especially since they're just one-offs.
