Installing GW NF on a new pc, access key in use already.

My brother gave me Nightfall, he had it installed and created an account with the access key. he uninstalled the game, gave it to me, I try to create a new account and get an error (Code=103). It says that the access key is already in use. How can I get this installed on my pc. His sucks, I am not using it. Is there a tracer on his harddrive showing that he used the access key on that pc? Please help!

Just install it and log in, the access key is attached to his account, so I'm guessing your going to use his account to play because he either, a) wants to share it with you, or b) has quit GW himself and given it to you

If not, then you can't use that access key as its already used and gone and only by logging into his account can you use it

account information is held server side, and as such, nothing but game information is stored on the computer (except templates and screenshots anyway)... technically, once you have the game installed on your computer, I, or anyone else from guru could come round to your place and play the game on your pc with all our account info straight away (as long as you had everything downloaded of course)

See the EULA. The access key is permanently tagged to your brother in this case, and cannot be transferred to anyone else. He could install it on another computer and play it using his original key, but legally no one else could.

Just download the client and log in with the user name and password your brother used.

The access key is only needed once and that is the first time you install and make an account.The key code is then linked to the account you made , so key code 123-456-789-0111 is linked to [email protected] at that moment.

After that whenever you want use your account at someone elses pc you just download the client or install from the disc and you log in with your account, it will know that you only have certain chapters.

So to solve your problem, just ask your brother ( if he did not already give you it) for his account login and password.I'm guessing he doesn't play anymore,if he does , you two cant play at the same time both using his account.

pls note that there was a similiar case where a dude used a friend's account and got banned and when he contacted support they said they couldn't help him because the account is not his.

There was probably more then someone letting someone else use or play on his account.Anet won't ban just because someone else is playing or using the account.

1. Download client from guildwars.com
2. Login with existing account/password
3. Change the password and the contact email address
4. Play the game

NOTE: If your brother ever decides he wants his game back, DO NOT complain to support, they might ban the account.
