My main char is an elementalist.
If cast an enchantment while using, say, a staff with a +20% enchant mod, then switch to, say, a bow with a +20% enchant mod while the enchantment is still up, does it carry on for the rest of the +20% time period, or does the +20% end when I switch from the staff to the bow?
Anyone know?

The skill works of what you had at the time it was cast. It will last 20% longer if you cast it with a 20% moded staff and switched to a sword with no mod, it will be there longer.

^What orange milk said.

All spells/skills will only use stats of the weapon used while using the skill (poison duration, enchant length, chance of half cast, etc). If you switch after casting, it won't change the enchantment length.

The mod that you have on you when the spell finishes casting is the one that counts.

of course with something like shield of absorbtion for example where +20% is 1 second, the time it takes you to swap weapons negates any possible benefit

Sorry for not being clear, I'm talking about it not being worth switching *away* from the +enchant weapon. Because in the 1 second you gain, you'll have to swap twice essentially. Just use the +enchant weapon if the enchant duration is short like that, otherwise swapping is good for specific HCT/HSR mods.
