Fort Aspenwood on Hard Mode... What the?

Only happened the once, next time it was back to normal.

Kurzick NPC's were still level 20 but had higher stats, ele's for example had 142 damage obs flames.

Oh and yes i know im stood in a maelstrom, it wasnt my primary concern at the time.

Man, the Siege Turtles roll through the gates so fast on Hard Mode...It really sucks when you're on the Kurzick side.

I know they're not going to fix it, either. It's Factions and it's Fort Aspenword, so *tear*.

I can imagine 1 scenario:

Everyone goes to load into Fort Aspenwood. The VERY first person to load, has Hard Mode active, and because of such, it enables Hard Mode for Aspenwood. Everyone else loads in, and the NPC's are buffed accordingly.

Scenario 2:

Everyone goes to load into Fort Aspenwood. The VERY first person to load, has Normal Mode active, and because of such, it stays as Normal Mode for Aspenwood.

haha, so it’s still not fixed eh.. or maybe it’s a new feature

I remember reading about this a little after hard mode was introduced.

And although it’s probably ruining fort aspenwood even further, I need to remember to try it out, cuz it sounds interesting. It’ll probably amuse me for a couple rounds though, and then I’ll start complaining.

I think it's more likely that everyone that entered in that particular instance had hardmode active. Rare, but possible.

Yeah, probably something like that. It's pretty funny though lol

Yes, Luxon Siege Turtles gain two extra levels and have the faster cast time for their attacks. Same thing applies to the Kurzick Juggernuat; you heal that sucker and it won't die. Plus it makes taking back Kurzick Mines a pain if the Kurzicks reinforce them. About the AI, yes it's very odd since on normal mode, Kurzick Elementalist will not cast Obsidian Flame until their target is at least 50%. In Hard Mode, they cast it whenever and it hurts. Note this also happens in Jade Quarry too as a FYI.

This sounds like fun, now I'll have to try this out for myself if I can get back on GW (finals suck).

Hmmmm... Let me ask QA to take a look at that. They're great mystery solvers.

How about looking into the horrid drop rates in Hard mode too while at it Gaile? Going through entire campaigns in Elona and Cantha for the guardian titles and only to get gold armors is awful.

Can you please ask them to fix the other issues of Fort Aspenwood while you're at it? For instance, Kurzicks can lure luxon warriors out of the field of battle and they will never pathfind back (meaning the luxons don't get any new squads). And the Kurzick gatekeepers will at many times run out of the green room and into danger to heal some random person.

No not that. I use pvp characters in there and ive seen hard mode active. I cant put on hard mode on a pvp char.

Its probably what the person you quoted said.

There's no place to activate normal mode and hard mode. If you talking about your initial load into aspenwood, and before you loaded in you were vanquishing in hard mode and still had it set as that, then maybe, but highly unlikely.

Just like Bryant said....It's aspenwood and factions, Anet won't do anything about it.

Gaile, can you ask about other Aspenwood bug fixes while you're at it? I mean warriors and turtles who get stuck for no apparent reason and gatekeepers who run outside the fort, if someone lures them properly.

I mostly play Luxon side and I definately noticed that the spirits the mine keepers use are higher level and hurt more, as well as the elementalists' spells.

Just because you don't have good drops over ~1 month doesn't mean the drop rate is 'horrid'.

yeah posted the same thing over at GWOs bug forum yesterday:
http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forum...d.php?t=452239

disregard the build - it sucks outside of heavy melee pve team. (yet we still won )

I've seen this too. I was thinking that maybe the match will kick into hard mode if all people participating have the ability to enable hard mode. I say this because I've seen it a few times, as well as other guild members, but my friend who just began the game not too long ago and hasn't beaten any campaign yet has never seen the hard mode indicator in aspenwood before.

I would like to see some bug fixes for Aspenwood as well, like everyone else. QA dept. should have an fun-spenwood day and fix the turtle bug, luxon warrior bug, and gatekeeper bug. I've also seen the luxon priests run around a bit rarely to try and heal people.

- hard mode?
- turtle stuck in gates
- kited luxon warriors get stuck
- gatekeeper NPCs run out of green gate

I wonder how EoE would do under such circumstances... assuming SOMEONE could keep that damned turtle out...

Yes, the first thing i noticed was the higher turtle level, then that it had the hard mode icon.

Although the npcs were level 20 they had more armor and higher attributes, as far as health is concerned i dont know, I didnt see a prot spirit on anyone.

I dont think it can be that every1 has hard mode on as I didnt, maybe the first person to load like fenix said.

Thanks for looking into it Gaile, appreciated.
