Okay, I'm on the verge of having to switch from a T1 connection to dialup.
My computer has 2 GB of RAM and an awesome processor.

How will the connection speed change affect my gameplay?

Depends on what kind of "dial-up" you're moving to. If you are moving to regular land lines, you're going to be hating life once you leave the T1 behind. >_<

If you're moving to 3G cellphone dial-up, you'll still have very playable connection speeds.

How exactly will the slower connection speed hurt my gameplay (moving to landline DL, btw) ?

Like, details.
Will there just be waaay longer loading times, or will the instanced explorable areas have huge lag, or what?

i was trying dial up awhile ago, explorable areas are lag free with just long ass load times, im not 100% sure about towns and outposts. but definately longer loading times

56K dial up sucks

Downloading a 5MB patch (seconds on T1) will now take anywhere between 10-20 minutes. The game will be playable of course but you will be hating updates/busy towns etc Avoid if possible.

Computer speed affects FPS, loading a map from your hard drive, etc. Connection speed affects the time it takes to download new data to your hard drive, delay between you and the server, etc.

56K = pain in the ass DSL is good enough though, btw im in canada and i'm using bell sympatico intermediate dsl, anything like that and above that is good enough imo, loading time is short enough and patches usually take 2 mins for the larger ones.

Patches are going to take a long time to DL, you're going to have long load times, and depending on what type of 56k you might lag in some places or err7 upon loading.
