Trade Chat Idea
Lord Lambchop
Ok so in World of Warcraft they have this feature where you can actually put up a little colored icon of a weapon that you want, people can look at the stats and such and see if they want to buy it, dont you think this would be very helpful in guild wars?
Renegade26
Maybe like the template code, just choose the name of it and stick it up as a template of an item.
Malice Black
Yea but WoW has all these nice things because people pay to play the game. Don't expect P2P extras with a free to play game.
Lord Lambchop
so your syaing they probly wont do this because we dont pay
Yawgmoth
It would be a very simple yet effective improvement.
I think that it would be possible to convert any item in game into a short string of characters, like a template. Making them into clickable links, possible to be pasted in Trade Chat would give the Trade Channel users an advantage (it shouldnt work in local)
It would make selling stuff a little easier and would move most of the spam out of the local chat.

Yeah that would be very nice, it's always a pain to write the weapon's stats, would be alot easier to click (or ctrl+click) to the weapon and other people would see it in the chat. (Trade Chat, not Local Chat!! )

i've seen this "guild wars is not pay to play" again and again and again. It's simply not true.
WoW players pay £92 per year, plus a yearly expansion pack at £30 ish, to play their game. adding up to £122.
GW players pay £30 twice yearly for an expansion pack. thats £60 yearly. some will also buy the pvp unlock packs and extra character slots etc...
so, us GW players pay, on average, over half of what the WoW players pay. We still pay to play. we just pay less on average.
Also, i dont see why this would be so difficult to implement. the base for providing clickable chat links is there, all that would be required is to add a button for linking, and a new interface window to display the items.

The idea is gr8 , but fact is anet will not add any trade updates. they are far to busy with other things, most likely GW,2 as stated by Gaile Gray on this page the other day.

WoW is P2P because its engine requires high bandwith usage and more powerful servers, also they are obliged to keep new content coming because people pay monthly.

Yes I agree with this idea, it is a great feature. Of course Anet will steal this for GW2 just like they have stole many other things from WoW. This is why Guild Wars = Poor Man's Wow even though it almost cost the same with all the expansions you have to buy. Bottom line is wow is sooooooooooooooo much better.

Go play your "Much Better" game.
have you even played GW? More than once?
Bread Fan
I am playing my better game right now and yes I played Guild Wars for almost 2 years. The best thing that ever happened was when they gave me a 72 hour suspension in GW because of my name... I then downloaded the WoW trial and have been playing that ever since. Talk about that backfiring. Got my rank 10 been in a top 50 guild so ya I think I played GW more than once.

I was unaware of this but still the fact remains Anet steals more and more things from WoW all the time and it is a much better game.
Please refrain from the name calling as I am extremely sensitive.

What has ANet 'stolen' from WoW that was original in WoW

First of all if you got banned for a name then its pretty obvious it was your fault for making a stupid name
Second stop accusing Guild Wars of stealing ideas from WoW... Apparently you claim to be such a veteran at Guild Wars, yet you portray yourself to be an idiot to everyone on these forums when you claim GW is a poor mans WoW. Do you even know what the original purpose of Guild Wars was supposed to be? To break away from the traditional MMO play style. Please if you can point out a valid similarity between WoW and GW that proves GW copied WoW, ill give you a cookie. Sorry but, GW and WoW are two totally different games and no because gw has fireball and so does WoW no thats not a valid argument.
P.S Both of Anet's Co founders helped develop and create WoW along with several other devs of GW. BtW WoW has stolen almost all of there ideas from other MMO's
So how is WoW better then GW again?

I'm afraid of spamming, but otherwise it's a great idea.
PS: but shouldn't this be in the suggestion forum?

No, the businessmodell is just different, and people continue to work on improvements. The game is a continual display of such improvements, attribute point allocation without point cost, template codes, mouse over display, continual adjustment to AI, implementation of hardmode, sorrows furnace, the list goes on and on. A simple improvement on the trade would help the community a lot, it does not perse need be a an auction house.
Lag Hell
There are lots of features on WoW that we want for gw, and every time we assiciate the 2 games a flamme war starts ><
But as for the idea, its great, altho it would make chat look abit messy with all the colors.
And as for WoW~Gw, better is simply based on opinion, every1 is different, so then the case of being better becomes majority based, and since WoW has twice the amount of players as Gw, more people prefer WoW. The technically WoW is "better"

Eve online has it too...
anyway, if it was fixed to not work in all chat but only in trade chat, then its /signed.

Do you realize World of Warcraft wasn't the first game to include a lot of the things you say Guild Wars "stole" from it? There's a long list of games that World of Warcraft "stole" things from. >.>
Anyway...I think this would be a great idea. As long as you can only use it in Trade Chat, Party Chat, and Private Messages (maybe Guild Chat as well), it seems harmless. ^^

Ahh the civility has gone yet again. Why does this forum fail so bad at 'adult' discussion?
Good idea by the OP, this was never in doubt but this being GW it will be abused if implemented so why bother?

This is also in LOTRO and is a very nice feature. If they can't give us an auction house, this would be good enough for me.

Making the template check and require you to have the item in your inventory would fix any abuse of that.
