Interesting Farm - Large Groups/Mino
legendary_Ace
Well, Hello, Everyone knows about the HM mode scatter and all, so after some experementing I think I found some sound methods that work very well, Correct me if I'm wrong, but I havn't seen this idea around (Read on to see what my idea is)
Ok, so we all know that monsters scatter, we also all know in HM they attack faster, which gives Spiteful Spirit (SS) a nice boost, but the problem is they scatter, after trying some things I discovered that SS usually makes them "flee" to the "right", or to the "behind" of you, weird? Well I farmed HM outside Ice Tooth Cave Mino's and it turned out nicely.
---[ Mino Farm - HM]---
The Key is to find a nice corner surrounding, or a right angle (or less).
Here is the simple skill set:
Protective Spirit
Shield of Absorption
Shielding Hands
[Optional, Not Mark of Pain (tried that)]
Spiteful Spirit [E]
Blessed Aura
Balthazars Spirit
Essence Bond
Max Curses is what matters most.
When you go outside cast your last three enchantments, start off to the right, gather the Minos to the right, then take a left and gather those guys up there, make SURE you recast your spells a little before they start to blink, the Minos knock you down as you walk.
After you agro them, do a spinny circle tell you end up like this:
Then when your positive they are clumped and not going to sneak past through the right side. Cast SS and attack the guy you casted on, then right when SS recharges target another guy and cast + attack.
After they all die continue out of that little area out to the opening, aggro some of the dudes to the right and continue staright ahead to the Mino's patroling from the right and up the hill. Once you have them, spin around a corner like so.
You can keep going and get some left overs, or you can rezone and start over.
---[Canthan Rares Assasin Farm - HM]---
This can also be done with the post you saw a while back to obtain Canthan rares.
Same build.
Run across brige, aggro those, run to all the green dots and around the builds, then start running toward the boss, aggro the guys around that noble, then run back a bit to the far corner where more guys spawn, ball them up and walk toward the right corner, make sure not to get cornered, its a small space.
After you feel you are in a confertable situation, use SS.
There ya go.
You can do this with many different corners, as long as its at least a right angle.

Feedback please?

I have a vid, but its so MESSED up, if anyone knows why, feel free to post.

PLEASE NOTE: Some people things that the fewer you kill instantly the less drops you will obtain, so take the groups little by little, if you want white drops.

Where is the canthan rares farm located? I don't know where that is you're talking about in the first post. Sorry it that's a noobish question, but I would really like to know.

Its not a noobish question its a "noob who's too lazy to search" question. See the brown bar with "search" and a little arrow close to the thread's title? Type "Cantha rarest" there.
My Green Storage
Calm down with the screaming for "use the search."
Simple answer Anti:
The Halcyon Job you get in Cavalon. The guy is standing to the left of storage.
NOT Protect the Halcyon .. The Halcyon Job
Edit: it's in an area to the left of Sskai, there's a little town right behind where Sskai is, the entrance to the town is to the left.

It has been speculated that killing a big group of mobs at the same time, would you let get less common loot. I prefer to stick to Spoil Victor. THough with canthas rarest it may be worthwhile to kill them at the same time, as you only farm for the rare items.
Second thing: essence bond won't trigger with the SH/SoA build =)

Equites
Essence bond does trigger even if you are using a 105 sh/soa build. It triggers when you take dmg, the amount of dmg, including zero, is irrelevant. I do DOA titan farming on my monk and many a time my ranger partner has forgotten his balth spirit on me. If essence bond was not triggering when i got hit, i never would have been able to finish the farm w/ 2 energy regen.

O_O WHere do you find all of those Luxon Assassins?

That cornertrick is so old Used in DoA Titangem for ages. For the guy btw who said EB Triggers when you take 0 dmg shielding hands on you, its false, you don't get energy with SH and EB, only with EB and SoA.
Those luxon assasins are in a quest what I cant remember.

No "zomg ur a noob" just an answer. Thank you again for actually helping instead of sitting there and going "ur 4 nub so go awai and read teh first post!". The AREA ITS IN isn't even stated in the first post... drakun01
The 'sins are relatively well known I think. Anyways, I knew this worked on 'sins, but not on Minos. ty.

Sorry, that is wrong. Essence bond DOES NOT trigger if u take 0 damage. At the very least, I can at least confirm if shielding hands reduces dmg to 0, you will NOT get any extra energy. This behavior might have changed in the past few months so its worth it to test urself :P.
phool
essence bond used to trigger off -0s, I think that changed at the same time some DoA exploit was nerfed.
legendary_Ace
Thanks for the feedback, I usually keep esence bond there if I want energy "on the run", I guess it doesn't matter.
I heard about a similar trick requiring two people where the monsters chase after second person after fleeing only to be body blocked by the first guy. BTW other AoE spells makes them scatter in all directions... teotuf
so if i got this straight, basically ur pulling them to the wall, then move to the right so ur 3 way sandwiching them with the 90 degree walls and urself? I can't really tell from the video =P
also, essence bond does give you extra energy even when you are taking 0 dmg, can ppl please stop saying it doesn't... the only reason it doens't is because you guys are using shielding hands instead of shield of absorption. as for the scatter management for 2 ppl, i only found chokepoints in the UW, haven't had any success elsewhere, i think this is better for general use. Riken Chrono
can you do the assassins without the halycon job?

It might work with more than 90 degrees, just the concept is they run back, hit the wall, then start running back to you, usually they will "slide" past you, but if you body block them they have either to run to you or against the wall. (You don't need to push them all the way back, just to the end of the corner) It works in almost anywhere, if there is 3 or less, don't bother, since scatter won't happen. Anyone figure out whats the problem with my vid? Enko
works fine with N/Mo too. also was able to kill them one by one quickly since if you cast SS on them and wand the one you're targeting, the rest of the assassins should be at about 10 health. 1 or 2 wand hits per will kill each so you can get more drops that way instead of them all dying at once.

Oh, good idea, thanks,

I noticed that Essence Bond don't Trigger unless you take elemental damage. It's supposed to trigger from physical damage, but it just doesn't for some reason. Not quite sure what counts for physical damage when using Essence Bond. Balthazar is all you need for most farms...

what?! No.
People have been using Essence+spirit since the dawn of time against physical dmg. It works. nghwee
Essence bond triggers on elemental or physical damage. Light (holy)/dark damage and life steals do not trigger it.
Absorbed damage counts as damage, ie Shield of Absorption works. Damaged reduced to zero = no damage, ie essence bond does not trigger when damaged reduced to zero by Shielding Hands. This is how the game engine implements it, don't ask me why. Crazyvietguy

Can you just read the original tread on farming these guys?
BTW OP great find. Right angles FTW. legendary_Ace
Thanks, I have some other ideas with other AoE, I will post soon.
Thrug
Ace by name, ace by nature
Great find! I agree it's easier to use the stairs when fighting those sins though. But thx for the find and sharing it with others Shadow Bicky
tbh i know mass agro on the luxon sins are good as its quicker
but the drops become fewer and worse if you mass agro, i bet you if you take 1 group at a time, you get 20x more golds.....10x more drops + money Absinth187
This concept was discovered awhile ago I thought. I just remember using it on kiting Life Pods (they were so annoying) with my warrior. Basically they run in a circle going clock-wise.
Anyway, still a good find/tip. legendary_Ace
Thank you for the complements!
Someone before suggested using SS once, then when they are very low health afterward, wand them to death. ArKaiN
105 rit:
Prot spirit Shielding hands VwK Vengeful Weapon Ancestor's visage Spirit Rift Essence Balthazar's 11-10-10 rest(+3, +1), channeling(+3), prot prayers 3 other major rit runes, all radiant insignias. Keep either VwK OR Shielding hands up at all times, and just spam the others. Its faster than SS(because sometimes the enemy with SS either dies or stops attacking under SS). legendary_Ace
Oh, great idea, SS works great with mobs that have the same type, since they all have same HP, and if you attack a NPC they usually attack back.
VwK scatters more than SS I guess? |
