Xfer customised weapons to GW2?
Harvest
By now most people who are curious about what type of bridge the expansion would provide from gw1 to gw2 would have looked up guildwiki and found out about the hall of monuments.
Basically like it says you'll be able to transfer over your weapons, armor, titles, etc. So are customised weapons going to be xferrable aswell?
( by customised I mean the +20% damage thing you get from the weapons crafter that pervents the weapons use by anyone else).

Ok, you've read it wrong, or people are putting mis-information on there again.
Nothing is "transferable." Your accomplishments in GW1 allow you to UNLOCK things to USE in GW2. But no, you aren't transferring your Crystalline or Chaos Axe.
Having FoW armor is considered an "accomplishment." And will unlock... something.
GW2 won't have heroes in the same fashion as GW1, but having certain heroes will allow you to unlock unique companions (GW2 version of Hero).
Remember, these are two SEPARATE games, linked only through the Hall of Monuments in GW:EN. Just because GW1 has Warriors, Paragon, Dervish, Ranger, Monk, etc. doesn't mean GW2 will have all 10 professions.
(Note: The only "exception" to the transfer rule I am aware of is mini-pets, but in the way it was spoken of, again it could be unlock-able only. Then again, the game is 2+ years out, it could change 9 ways from Sunday between now and then.)

PC Gamer describes it as a family inheritance. Titles and minipets may give access to certain GW2 benefits. Special weapon earned in GW1 may be in a display case in your Hall of Monuments and your GW2 character will be able to take them out and use them.
I would expect the weapons to be limited to unlocked weapons in GW:EN or maybe certain green items.
I think it's been said before...there will be no direct transfers between the games...anything you can get from GW1 will be unlocked through the Hall of Monuments you build in GW:EN (and you can only build it in GW:EN, ie if you don't have GW:EN you won't be able unlock anything)

I just hope I can take a staff called Mazey Vorastagg's Gaia Stave for use on her granddaughter, Illayna Rialon!
Oh the excitement!!
But, what ever it is, it's sure to be cool.

So basically if i want to customise my green spear from the thorne of secrets its ok because just having it will allow for the unlock for my gw2 character so i dosn't matter? i hope that's the case cause i'm reading the section in the pc gamer right now about HOM and it didn't say anything about unlock for weapons it just says that it gets a nice display case that your gw2 character gets to take out and use. So if its customised my decendent would be screwed if his arms/hands are too big.
I guess its an obvious mistake to avoid and arenanet has a good record of avoiding stupid things like that but i just had to make sure before i customise my green weapoins.

You CANNOT Xfer armor for sure, and there is NO information released by A-net that you can Xfer your weapons in HoM. In fact the facts point to the opposite.... c'mon people. HoM is not a big chest you can put things in and retreive them 100 yrs later. You build MONUMENTS that UNLOCK things...
I am willing to bet my entire inventory/money that none of the items you have in GW1 will be Xfered to GW2.

I agree, the most I heard is that through HoM, you can only transfer titles and gold. Nothing about armors and weapons could be transfer!

Sir Skullcrasher
so only titles and maybe your character's names will be transfer?
Geez, I don't know if any of my titles (non-max) is worth sending over to GW2!

We really have no idea how the inheritance will work yet, nor do we know what will be allowed (though we know some things that will not be). There have been mentions of transferring weapons and armor (both from the previews and unofficial statements), but that's it. All we can do for now is wait for more info to come out.

~the Devs have confirmed that armour is definitely not transferable....
This is how the "Hate anet cuz they promissed us that we could keep everything" threads get started.
Keep in mind that GW2 may be a long way off.... but HoM apparently isn't ...Gw:en is comming in just a few months.

Having a Green Item now, will not unlock said green item for a GW2 character.
Are you even certain there will be paragons to wield said spear? Because ANet hasn't said so.
A magazine MAY have said (though I don't recall it, having read it) you can take items out of a case, but the DEVELOPERs have said no item is transferable (with the exception of mini-pets, perhaps).
How "unlocks" work, in the fashion they have been explained thus far. Having FoW armor (or some "high-end" armor, it wasn't stated clearly) will unlock "Something." It may not be FoW armor... it probably won't, but it will be SOMETHING.
GW:EN will allow us access to "unique items not otherwise attainable in GW2." This does NOT mean GW1 items.
It's something that is unique, to both games, gained as a result from attaining something in GW1.

Nothing ....anywhere from the Devs, states that we get any benefit in GW2 for having...any set of GW1 armour (or weapon for that matter).
Do not get people's hopes up for something that is pure fancy. If anyone actually has proof that the Devs had said this... then please post it.... because so far all we have gotten is: "well since we can transfer stuf..." and no proof has been made.
People should think of it this way: If you unlock this monument ..then if you get GW2 you can unlock a special (game of the year edition type) weapon, or festival hat, or mini, etc... as if you purchased a special edition of GW2.
Mr. G
bah i cant even be bothered to post it anymore...1 word GWW...go look it up

I'll look through some of the Dev quotes, and if I see it, I'll post a link.

<speculation>
We know that titles will most likely transfer, though no one knows whether they will be direct transfers or not. I'd say not, as it would make more sense for my GW2 title to be Rianna "granddaughter of Rianna, who was Kind of a Big Deal", rather than Rianna, Kind of a Big Deal.
Weapons and armor almost certainly not transfer as-is. That would require the game mechanics to remain static, which they most certainly will not. My best guess is that they will unlock a somewhat similar item, ala the Factions or Nightfall pre-order unlocks, or the Tyrian GOTY unlocks. Thus you will have something unique that will distinguish you, based on your great-grandmother's earlier feats.
The best we can probably hope for is that some of the neater items (Chaos Axe, Mursaat Hammer, Fellblade, Eternal Bow) will come across with similar skins.

My only hope is ArenaNet release all information about Hall of Monuments, I mean, not now, but when GW:EN is released, we must know what we will get working in our "monument", related with what we will get in GW2.
Anyway, I have an old suggestion, not sure if I was the first one, and is this: A minipet of yourself (GW1 character) in GW2. That way you will be able to show your GW1 armor/weapons in GW2 (just showing the minipet, a minipet you can upgrade just entering GW1 and changing armor/weapons; that minipet could even show the GW1 title you want)

Nothing in GW should significantly affect stuff in GW2, I mean it's a new game for christs sake everyone should start from scractch. (I like NeHoMaR's suggestion, some e-peen reward should suffice).
If people start posting about how they "wasted" their time getting titles in GW and now don't get any benefits from it they need to consider.... GW2 IS A NEW GAME.
Get over it

I still cant belive how ignorant people are about HoM, it took me a whole...3 mins to find a pile of info off the official wiki for a start, it only takes a little more digging to find more....go look - this is what? the 7th topic about this in a week?

Description From the official site: Heroes are born in the crucible of conflict and tempered in the flames of battle. Their deeds shine throughout history as a beacon of hope to those who must rise to defend the world in ages to come, becoming part of the legend of the land. The legends forged within Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and the Eye of the North will not be forgotten in the future world of Guild Wars 2. Your deeds from the original Guild Wars campaigns will be commemorated in the Eye of the North expansion in your Hall of Monuments. The Hall of Monuments will reflect the achievements you earn in Eye of the North as well as those earned in Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. You will even be able to show off your hall to friends. Then, when Guild Wars 2 arrives, each of these monuments will correspond to special features your Guild Wars 2 characters can "inherit" from your own legendary past, giving you access to exclusive titles, companions , weapons, attire, and miniatures. These inherited items are unique: there is no other way within Guild Wars 2 to acquire them. Notes * This feature will not allow characters to be transferred between Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2. However, it will allow character names to be reserved and a character linked to a Guild Wars character will inherit some of the original character's accomplishments. * It will not support transfer of armor, characters, or gold. However, acquiring some armors in GW1 may confer benefits in GW2 via the Hall of Monuments. |

Wiki is not A-net.... It is updated by the players... I still haven't seen anything from the devs about anything that has been posted as expectations in this thread.\\
The information given does not say that we can transfer anything, It says we are given acces:
titles- so we get corresponding titles
companions - maybe a character in GWEN will last 100 years? or maybe a special pet.
weapons- most likely a 'game of the year' type weapon (like I stated before)
attire- holiday type festival hat?
miniatures - It doesnt even say we can KEEP the minis...it says we are given acces to special minis...
seriously this is how things like this:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...74#post2845474
....happen. Players hear partial info...players set their expectations... players cry and complain that 'ANET PROMISED' ...when this has never been the case.

I commend clawofcrimson, Lonesamurai, and the others with similar posts for their continued patience in helping clear up this confusion every time it comes up -- again. I've also been trying to help clear up this confusion, but thanks to these contributers I don't have to.
Finally, in comment to NeHoMaR's "only hope"... It would be nice to know during GW:EN what will eventually unlock something in GW2, but I would rather NOT know what it is exactly that I am unlocking until I play GW2. I enjoy the surprise.

well unless Xfer is added to the dictionary in the next 3 years I highly doubt anyone will be Xferring anything from anywhere to anywhere else, let alone GW2.
Off Topic: Transferring? I doubt it will be anything like as simple as many people claim to know it will be. I suspect there will be very very little if any transfer of anything, there may be the possibility of unlocking unique skins or something for your GW2 character by obtaining an exciting weapon in GW but it probably wont apply to many weapons. Of course this is all speculation as we have had very little official information and everything is likely to change.

and why transfer weapons anyway? who says that the weapon stats are gonna be the same? i dont think so, otherwise it wouldnt be gw2...

I don't think anything should be transferred, or any special favor given for anything from GW1. It's a new game.
Edit: That's my opinion. Obviously ANet/NCSoft/Whoever is doing something.
