Guild Wars 2 Release Date?

I'm trying to decide whether I want to go and buy one of the collector's edition copies of any of the guild wars campaigns, or simply buy an extra character slot. However, I also want to buy Guild Wars 2 when it comes out, and at first I thought that it was comming out in 2010, but I've heard from other people that it's comming out in 2008. I don't know what to believe; when is it actually being released?

No one really knows....read the articles in magazines and websites and decide for yourself. At this point, everything is speculation. The game industry is notorious for pushbacks....so, even if a date is posted (even though NCSoft/Anet are good at pacing themselves) there is no hard and fast date until it is officially announced. In any event, you are looking at at least a year to 18 months, so why worry about it now?

i agree buy GW now and worry about GW2 later on...it will be atleast a year to year and a half before GW2 is released.

The only official statement by Anet that contained any dates for GW2 was to my knowledge that the beta test for the game is planned for 2008.

As stated - the only known date at this moment is a planned public beta test in 2008 with the release to be sometime after that, but no word on when it will be. Seeing as we can't answer the question, and anything else is pure speculation...
