Guild Hall, Vent, Guesting, PvE, or the occasional HA match...

Dark Alley [dR]

I have a mix of both. some chars just look better in their female form, some look better in their male form. its all about personal preference.

Used to have a female character, but it's not as fun to roleplay with as with my male Warrior. My alter-ego 'Milennin' is just so cool to use for roleplaying.=D
Besides, I've got better things to look at than the butt of my character.XD

just as a test my friend and i made female toons to see how long until one of us got harrassed for being a chick toon or getting a cyber request/flirt.. we didn't even make it out of pre-searing. and in post we got to piken square before a flirt conversation started..
I've only seen that kind of thing once, and it was someone in great temple of balthazar trying to get a female ele to do a strip tease for him. Well up until someone asked him why he didn't just go look up porn. He didn't have an answer to that question, so that silenced him quickly.

Personally I'm a guy playing female characters for the usual reason. However I find the majority of the female ele armors too skimpy for my tastes, which is why I don't actually have an ele character currently.

Just wait till you get people admitting they play the non-human races because they look hotter. Wikipedia is the only source I have for that statement that the mods won't object to.

I gotta say that as a 30 something bloke, all my characters are female. When i started playing i started as a male but as time goes on and my eyesight gets worse, i just find the female versions more aesthetically pleasing now.

you cant go wrong with tiny canthan female monks

I have a female sin, monk, and 2 warriors. I have a male dervish, necro, mesmer, ranger, and rit. My reasons were:
Sin: First Factions Character and I just liked the look of them.
Monk: Recently created. Made female because the name I had for her was "Roll in Zee Hey" and well can't name a dude that.
2 Warriors: 1 Axe(15k Kurzick dyed light metallic blue[blue+green dye I believe] w/ Zodiac Axe and Zodiac Shield all dyed blue) and 1 Sword(1.5k Knights dyed the cliche yellow w/Perfect Tyrian Longsword and Tyrian Wingblade Sword, and Jade Sword and a Perfect Tyrian Skeleton Shield all dyed White) Solely chosen because chick warrior armors look so much better. That and male warriors, as someone said earlier, look too oafish, female warrios look like their fast and agile.

Dervish: Female Dervishes are pretty hot lookin but the males look menacing in the endgame armor and obsidian, the chicks look weak in those armors.
Necro: No real reason other that his name, Seth Ironfist. That's the name I had going in so it had to be a dude.
Mesmer: No real reason, just did it...
Ranger: Another naming reason, Midget Rasta Pirate, just sounds like a guy. Reason for naming: He is as short as he can be(midget), he has dreadlocks(rasta), and an eyepatch(pirate), fits don't it?
Rit: Name again: Vote Para Pedro seemed fitting as the male rit dance is from Napoleon Dynamite Vote Para Pedro is spanish for Vote For Pedro.

I'm a woman and most of my characters are female. I tried to create a few male chars, but found most of them ugly. I have 1 male warrior left and he gets to carry all the luggage for the women. (Mule)

So, to the OP: If you break up with Steph does that mean you'll have to delete her character?

Male here- GW is RPG - key word Role.

Main account - 11 character slots - 1 for mule(male but doesn't count)

Main character - Male warrior - Mid height, muscular, Glads armor - looks mean and tough, just as a warrior should.

(Madam Theresa) Female Monk (healer) - most nurses are female (doctors tell you what's wrong, nurses "heal")

(2)Female Elementalists - (Lady Firecracker Tyrian born), (Lady Nichole Elonian Born) - I tend to see magic more used by females.

(Ms Dartfire) Female Ranger - Grotto armor (red/silver) looks danged good. No problems getting into groups with her. Guys enjoy watching her while she 'runs' Ascalon to ToA. Has made many unsolisited tips dancing (fully dressed) in Augury Rock and Piken Square. Female rangers dancing in sync = hotter than the Eles.

(Ms Shylight) Female Dervish - have you seen the guys? ugh

Male Warrior - 'perma' pre

Last 3 slots - deleted female Memer - deleted male Necro - deleted male ranger.

Why female? Some for the names prechosen. Some for the better animations while doing their 'tasks'. And of course, some for their 'curves.'

I, too, am a writer, so developing characters is second-nature. I've got ten in all (in this game), 7 male, 3 female, from a tiny white female ranger, to an old, bearded, black monk.

When GW2 comes out, I'll be going for the other races as well.

Perhaps I'm just in the minority, but the last thing I'd want is for any character of mine to be a reflection of myself. I'm very boring - I wouldn't want to watch myself in GW all the time, and I'd just get annoyed at the fact that my female ritualist is so much skinnier than me...
Plus gender is a limitation I don't like anyway.

I think you answered your own question there :P Roleplay, to me, is the opportunity to be someone I'm not.
I'm a girl irl, but half of my characters are male. Doesn't mean I want to be a guy (though perhaps I wouldn't mind ).
Like Mister Overhill above, I'm a writer also, and a roleplayer, who belongs to a semi-roleplaying guild. My characters are no more extentions of myself than any of an author's or roleplayer's characters are.

As for whose arse I like to stare at, I'm pretty much asexual so it's more a case of what sort of character takes my fancy aesthetically. No male warriors for me, then.

It's wrong to play female as a male?

How about playing troll, orc, undead as a human?

It comes down to personal choice: Is your character a virtual representation of you, or is it a bunch of polygons you move around the world.

If former, then the look, gender, race and in-game behaviour will reflect one's desires.

If later, it will be something eye-pleasing, or otherwise apealing.

Buying a ferarri or porshe also doesn't mean you want to prove that size doesn't matter, nor that you're having a mid-life crisis.

People just like to label others. For MMO veterans, gender is a non-issue. For newcomers, a huge part of confusion.

Years ago, when IRC was just starting, people were having hard time accepting people use handles instead of real names. For those it was the same issue - why would you use some weird name instead of your real one?

For today's generation IM handles are more common than phone numbers.
