Why do you refer to them as toons? I have character slots, not toon slots!

I spend a good 40-120 hours/character. So the average amount of time I spend playing is worth the output of people thinking I'm really a female. Some of the dances are worth the output also .

We need more Female Rangers!!!

A lot of young men are insecure about their own sexuality. The teenage years can be rough, and it somehow makes boys feel better about themselves if they can create a rigid set of rules that "prove" that they are what they say they are and stick to those rules. This is a profoundly immature and ignorant attitude, but it's natural and most guys grow out of it. The ones that don't...well...they become what we call "Conservatives" and continue their childish little insecure witch-hunts into adulthood.

Anyway, your avatar in a game is just an avatar in a game. I have a couple of female characters simply because the female versions of certain classes just look cooler than their male counterparts. The only thing that makes someone homosexual is a desire to have "relations" with same-sex partners. If that doesn't interest you, then you're not homosexual. It's as simple as that. Your friends might continue to accuse others of being homosexual, but they're only doing that because they feel like it somehow reiterates to others around them that they are not. It's a classic defense mechanism that stems from inexperience. Hopefully they'll grow up someday and learn how silly that is.

the extension of self comment was interesting... I totally agree with it. I think that's what most girls do when they create characters. They will create characters with the idea that they are playing, a reality which is destroyed if they have a male toon.

Men on the other hand seem to distance themselves a little more from their gaming. They don't see the character as themselves but someone they're controlling, and if they'd prefer to look at a woman then by all means, go for it.

I'm a girl, and I have all female characters but two, and that is because just freakily two of them happened to be the spitting image of the two boyfriends I've had while playing guild wars... So I guess, even my male characters turned out to be an extension of myself...

Krazi, I'd guess your friend has fears about his own sexuality, if he's too insecure to play as a female character.

lol Krazi got that right. Bet he does.

Anyway like others said most MMORPG players with female chars are men. And true looking at a girl all the time isnt a bad thing

It is kinda weird witht he GF thing....intresting...devoted maybe???

but personally i have the mind set of making characters like yourself thats why i enjoy factions so much something about azns and me being azns...makes me sad when i see people complainging about how all the faces are ugly...hell those "european" faces from prophocies are ugly...

edit: ok some are ugly..my monk and ele and ranger are hot..in a non-homo way

that made me lol.

anyways, as a straight guy i like male character, because i feel a little strange playing a female. and the male armors are almost all nicer, and bigger/more visible. but i see where you guys are coming from wanting to watch a female toon, i just dont pay that much attention to my character's butt.

as a RL female.....I play mostly females for a few reasons.
Male toons are just butt ugly....since the game was created for the male population the female characters are much better looking.
Male armor is ugly and very bland, and the choices arent very different from one another. Again, the game was made for guys and guys like to look at scantily clad females....so more diversity on female armor.

however; I do have 2 male characters...my tyrian monk is male because I dont like the bun head look (and he wears tats)... and I have a male rit---he IS hot! (and he has pants--luxon and vabbi).

Almost all of my characters are female. I play this game so much, might as well be looking at something kinda hot while I'm running through Tyria/Cantha/Elona.

Also some of the male characters imo look really stupid.

wow... lots of people here that have chick toons.

sorry, i don't think i could ever handle getting cyber requests daily... too many freaks on the internet.

just as a test my friend and i made female toons to see how long until one of us got harrassed for being a chick toon or getting a cyber request/flirt.. we didn't even make it out of pre-searing. and in post we got to piken square before a flirt conversation started..

1. I'd rather look at a female butt for 2000 hours. (duh, obvious answer)

More seriously.

2. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing most of the male armors, and many of the female ones I use aren't driven by my "male hormones", but they just plain look good.

3. Male ele (for that matter, most of them) dance? Ftl.

I have always played a Male cause thats who I am in RL and how I prefer to play the game
But I have been thinking of making a female necro after Anet did that April fools day gender change joke
The Female Necro I was changed into looked so damn HOT HOT HOT.

Does that make me gay? nope and anyway who cares what people think as long as your happy playing the game in any character you see fit.
Me thinks you should not listen to your friends.

lol, I thought the exact same thing on April Fools day when my male warrior was a female; my counter part was hot! I was planning to make a female warrior too but I have no more character slots so I'll have to wait!

Anyways like most people have said before, I rather look at a females butt while I play rather than males so that's why I started to make female characters.

I agree that you shouldn't spend so much time worrying about what your friends say. And if you feel like playing with your girlfriend's avatar, then go for it. I have to admit I find that idea a bit weird too, but I don't think it makes you into any kind of superfreak. It's kind of sweet that you think about your girlfriend so much you play her avatar in a game. Just don't forget about the real thing.

Let's see... I'm a girl, and I have a male character. Does that make me a lesbian? Don't think so - in real life, I'm in a happy relationship with a really wonderful guy. Only one of my toons is male though (a paragon) and the rest are girls, because I find most of the men in GW to be really ugly and horrible to look at for hours on end. And for the prettier classes (like rit and assassin) I've already got a female character who I don't want to delete.

My main character is my one character that I feel any connection with. I see him as myself when I get to that age (I'm 16) and frankly I think he even resembles me somewhat. So really, I have one character who represents me in game, and the rest are there because I don't want to be stuck playing the same character.

Let me guess, you play on American servers? That's hardly a supprise to me. I played on American servers for my first month or so of Guild Wars, during that time I saw countless requests for female characters to dance for money. You wouldn't believe how often I got requests when I was playing on my female elementalist.

Now that I'm on European servers, I find that people are much more open to the concept of a male playing on a female character (among other things). Frankly, the average maturity of people on American Servers is very low, probably because of the higher number of younger players.

lol this thread made me smile and I'm not even have a coffee yet. One of my character is a female warrior, out of nine slots, the rest are guys. Why female warrior? cus the male counterpart look fat, giant bicep, jar head. So I made a female one and I enjoy looking at her behind from time to time.

All in all a guy (14-whatever age) would rather looks at boobs and butt while he's playing a game, look around from FF12 to Tomb Rider, you'll see what I mean. And if a person wants to play for the other team or play for both team, then its his/her choices. This is a free world (well almost).

As for me I like a woman and I like her real, thank you very much.

heh, when started reading this thread, i thought it would quickly turn into the biggest flamethread of all time, but wow, so many gamer chicks coming out of the woodwork (women = cockroaches? yes, I'm gonna die)

But seriously, yeah, i have all male characters, but thats from the roleplay side of playing the game, running my guild, I like to pass over part of myself in whatever game I play with the guild, so male characters, and by extension, a male ass for me to stare at...
