New Title: "Pet Tamer Title"
Wes Swing
A good new title that I made up and discussed for the game is "The Pet Tamer Title" where throughout each game for a ranger or second proffesion ranger, you you have to charm and get all charmable animals to level 20
Also while during this, you can switch througout the Pet Companions without having to get them o level 20 again. Cause I have a level 20 Elder Wold and I want one of those Bears from spearhead where he becomes grows bigger than the character but i dont want to lose my Wolf I have worked on for Sooooooo long on so pleeeaseeee ArenaNet consider this title and i think others will also enjoy this!
(Am I right?!?!?! AM I RIGHT!?!?!)

This would be too easy. Firstly there arent that many pets in the game, secondly you can level a pet from lvl 5 to lvl 20 in around 8 urgoz solo runs.

If that pet title would come with a way to collect pets (to use at a later time) and not just dump them when we get new ones, that might be something to think about.
Why would I have to be forced to dump my favorite level 20 pet in order to be able to max the title? It wouldn't be fair.
IF we were able to keep them (although use only one at a time), IF we had to max the pet as the way to count for the title. IF there would be more variety of pets. THEN it would be indeed a GREAT idea: we would have incentive and reward, all in one neat package.
But do you know how long people have been asking to keep pets they tame? It's really a shame that this is not possible...
Without this foundation set in place, your nice idea, unfortunately, is doomed from the start...

Um, no. (12 chars)

As long as they add a way to save at least 1 animal to get it back later, this would be fine for me.

And the use is...?

no, due to the whole "stand alone" thing this would turn into 4 titles, Tyrian, canthian, elonian and ledgend....waaaay to many easily maxable titles

I like the idea of a title for collecting pets (and the ability to actually collect pets) but I agree that it would be a very easy title to attain. So to make it less easy, I'd say to max the title, you'd have to get one of each evolution of each pet. If they nerfed the deathleveling of pets (I heard that they had done this, but not sure if it was true), then I think this would be a relatively hard (hard being equal to grind in this context) title to max. After all, who could be bothered to train 54 pets (there's 18 trainable pets) to specific evolutions, plus venture into the underworld three times to get each evolution of spider, beat Shiro three times to get three phoenix, and capture a black moa? Hell, you could even add a few extra pets by making white tigers and snow wolves count for seperate points.

There are lots of "acomplishments" one can do in this game. Gaining level 20 without using a secondary profession. Beating the whole game only using three skills. Etc etc etc.
Not everything needs/deserves a title. If you want to do this, there is nothing to prevent you from getting all the pets to level 20 and just telling everybody that you did it. It doesn't diminsh your accomplishment. People did play and do things in this game before titles came around.

Ya i know it would probably be a very easy title to gain...scratch the title...what would be cool is for you to use pets as hero's that you can only use a seperate times, not 3 at a tie like a normal hero. I hope this make this idea more better
Every time i lag
would be cool if u could switch pets xD

Switching / keeping pets would be nice, a title for leveling all pets may be a bit too easy, since you can get loads of xp when solo fighting monsters.

My take on it would be this (in the same fashion as the festival hat NPC)...
...you capture a pet, then go speak to a "Pet Tamer NPC" (which already exist outside of outposts) inside a capital city. You then have an option to say "please look after my pet, I want to go capture a different one".
This then means, you loose the connection to that existing pet, but its being held by the Pet Tamer for you.
If you want to re-connect with that pet, you have to pay the Pet Tamer a small fee to do so.
But if you unconnected from a pet, you can then go out and capture another pet. Then once your new pet is lvl20, you can give that one to the NPC too.
The catch being they all have to be lvl20 before the Pet Tamer accepts them, and agrees to care for them. This allows you to capture as many (or a set number of) pets as you wish, and only having to pay a small price to interchange between them.
If you want a title to count how many pets you have tamed, that would work! Maxing it out at all the species that exist (including elite zone ones)!

I'm not getting rid of my pet just to max this pointless title. Wasting a skill slot for a pet to let it die at the first hurdle and scrounge experience that way means nothing.

Whatever, either way it doesn't need a title for it... i'd rather something like that just be implemented as a feature.

Variation on a theme
First, make the title not maxable, just make it display the number of different pets collected. This is too easy to be a maxable title.
I think more non-maxable titles is always nice.
Then, instead of collecting pets on your char, count all *different* pets that you collected on your account, including pets collected by heroes. The difficulty is in getting them, not in who got them.
Regarding difficulty
Collecting all pets is not that hard, especially for a given campaign. The only exception is for the Black Widow spider, which, being a core pet, would be required for every campaign. However, once you get that, it's an easy title to max. The Phoenix is not too easy either, but it's far easier to get than the Protector title for the same campaign.
Forcing us to grind them to every evolution or even just to lvl 20 is forcing us to grind. It's not an accomplishment even, it's just time consuming. We want more accomplishments, not more grind, remember?

I can death-level any pet in 40 mins, 5-10 mins setting up time and 40 mins of afking to get a lvl 20 dire pet. C'mon now, a useless title earned by exploiting and being AFK? I don't think so.
