"I'm pickin up on your sarcasm"
"Well I should hope so, because I'm layin it on pretty thick."
Yeah, they always do the preview.
probably yes, they use it to find bugs in the game or if skills are out of balance without having their testing team do it. think about it, three million accounts, if everyone logged on and played for 3 hours over the preview weekend, then that is 9 million hours of beta testing that ANET got for free. think how much their testing team would have to do to find out all that we would in that event and how much money they would have to pay.

In the NF preview you could just make a new toon and go around Istan. A PvP preview is almost certain, right? |
Unless ANET gives a pve preview, there is no way I'm pre-ordering GWEN.
Then again, the factions preview had us starting off with new characters before throwing us into the kurzick/luxon lands. I see three ways a PvE preview could be done:
- Let us into the areas on our current characters as per normal, then kick us out and disable any GWEN skills after it ends. This would probably see some people with GWEN armor/weapon skins that no-one else can obtain till GWEN's release, and I can see the price of even the GWEN crafter weapon skins spiking as only a limited number would get through to the rest of GW before the event ended.
- As above, but don't allow the creation of any items in GWEN specific skins. But with this option ANET doesn't get to show off the new weapon/armor skins.
- Allow us to make a clone of one of our current characters (including any items on it, with customization set for the clone on the new items) and let us roam around GWEN like that. This would probably be a more complex option to implement, and would allow people to duplicate items. So to prevent the duplicate items causing problems, the characters would have to be deleted after the preview.

I'm going to go with no, because it's not a new game, it's just an expansion. As far as I know except for the skills not much is going to be new, except the terrain and a few new monsters. Besides, they have two years before GW2 comes out to iron out the kinks, so I don't think they'll bother this time round...
They might do something minor, but I don't think any preview is going to be as massive as those for Factions and NF.
