An idea.

So okay then. What can be done to remove bots from the game? Obviously something to divide the bots from the human players.

So this got me thinking. What if every so often, it checks for human activity/interactivity (Maybe a confirmation of a random set of letters/numbers when leaving a town, every so often?).

This wouldn't be annoying for me, as i know it's for a good cause. What about you guys?

This would stop (Imo) us legitamate players from suffering future implementations that affect us, to cut down the amount of bots in the game.

Interesting thought. But what happens if you're having a lag moment or you need coffee and you punch in the wrong combination? Insta-ban?

It would be annoying for me.

What if I'm taking a bio-break?

Yeah...i think it would annoy some people. Why don't anet implement something like games such as Flyff and Trickster Online have? It's called NProtect Gameguard or something. It runs while the game is running and detects if you run any other applications that are affecting the game. This would work for bots wouldn't it?

Why would Anet want to stop bot users?
Easy solution would be IP ban not account ban BUT
Everytime Anet ban one of the big time gold farming companies accounts they buy another
These accounts being bought are now included in the (real world) economy of the game
If Anet stopped this profits would drop over night and as much as we all hate bots they do pay Anet for our updates and developments and are basically the reason Anet can run GW without monthly subscriptions
STOPPING bots would be bad for GW long term and can only be viewed as good for the game superficially whereas banning bots accounts keeps their (Anets) profits ticking over and pays for people to design updates for us

Hope that made sence, and sorry Anet if i've rumbled the trick but it's quite clear and genius
Or sorry for the accusation if i'm wildly wrong but this idea makes economical sence and as i don't use bots or buy gold off these companies but i DO get the upgrades and a free monthly game i have no objection to this (if true)

As a casual gamer, I used to be able to just do quests and missions (basically just play the game) and get great gold drops. Now, I have the choice of just selling to the Merchant (not much gold) or becoming a full-time Trader, which requires more time and patience. Because of this, I often multi-task with real-life responsibilities while playing Guild Wars when trying to trade. If this random code input system was implemented, I would often be banned when in reality I'm just not paying attention to GW while multitasking.

Sadly, Guild Wars does not offer much to occupy yourself with in Towns and Outposts while trying to sell either.

just have it so you can't continue until you put in the correct combinations. no ban just can't continue playing. so if you mess up a few times, you can eventually get it right and go on. now if a bot just kept randomly typing in letters or tried to use recognition software to input it, it'll be missing the combination quite a few times in a row. that account could then be added to a list for investigation by anet or something.
