I searched Hornbow and found nothing but sales, im sure this question has been asked before...Does the hornbow still have an inherant 20/20 Sundering, and will it stack if a 20/20 Sundering string is applied to it.

So a Sundering 20/20 Hornbow would have a 40/40, or a 40/20 ?

Hornbows have an inherant 10/10, and does stack with a sundering mod. Although i dont think it stacks like you described, but instead are calculated seperately.

Hornbows (also shadow bows, ivory bows and probably some others) have 10% armour penetration, always, not 10/10.

Hornbow do not have an inherent 20/20 sundering, never had...
They do have an inherent 10% armour penetration and it will stack.

as an additional question, verification rather, the AP will only afect skills, yes?
That is normal swings/shots never get AP.

hmm, just tested some at isle of the nameless: a flatbow with no points in marksmanship does 1 - 2 damage,
a hornbow consistently does 2 damage, wich makes me belive the 10% AP is always on...

Hornbows give a standard 10% armor penetration, they don't work with sundering or penetrating attack but do stack with sundering strings.

So yes it would stack, but i would be 80% chance for 10%AP and 20% for 30%AP i think

I knew that, but it's too early

And for some reason i was thinking that they would have seperate chances of working. Just to clear it up, the 10% (as it always works) will always stack with 20/20.

Ok, so a sundering 20/20 Hornbow would have a constant 30/20?
Also what is the range on a Hornbow?

Well, mathematically, no, it's not 30/20. It is 20/20% and 10%, which are different.

(conjecture)
Say you always hit for 10 damage, against AC60, which as I recall, is where damage doesn't modify. If you wield a Hornbow, you would modify the damage based on an armor of 60*.9 or 54AC, which is a modifier of 1.11... So you would then hit for 11.1 or 11 damage with the hornbow.

Sundering works the same way, so 60*.8 = 48AC = 1.25 = 13 damage, if the sundering triggers.

If you used both, then you'd have 60*.8*.9 = 43.2AC = 14 damage, if the sundering triggers.

So normal = 10
Hornbow = 11
Sundering bowstring on normal bow = 13 when triggered
Sundering bowstring on hornbow = 14 when triggered
(/conjecture)

Someone a year or so ago did a very very detailed examination of bow damage, so you may want to search the archives.

imo, it looks like your going for damage put a vamp bowstring on it.

Haven't used a Hornbow in yonks but as far as i remember they have the same Range as a Recurve bow. Which is just outside the aggro bubble... You should also take into consideration Hornbows have pretty high arcs, so the arrows are quite easily dodgable just by foes moving position. They also have a slow refire rate, think it's 2.7 seconds between arrows... So if your seriously considering using a hornbow i suggest you look at some skills such as lightning reflex to increase DPS and Read the Wind to reduce the arc.
