More Titles with Emotes
Shayne Hawke
I saw a thread a few months ago that preached the same idea as I do now: some titles should start getting their own special emote.
It was shot down a lot, because all the whinny PvPers said something along the line of, "Rank is the only thing that has an emote, and that's the way it should stay. If PvE gets emotes in their titles, why would I play PvP?"
But now I'm throwing this back out, thanks to the May 24th update. This update has shown me, just by looking at the rewards on GuildWiki, that items and armor that were once sacred to PvE are now being leaked into PvP. I don't much care about seeing any of the non-Ascended armors, but past that, it really shocks me that items of such rare value are now being presented to anyone who farms enough points in PvP. I certainly hope that FoW armor doesn't make it there, no matter how hard it is to get.
So as unfair as this is right now, I'm declaring that other titles get emotes, because if PvPers can have just about everything that PvEers have and more, why play PvE?
The only title I'm hoping to get emotes in this way is the Maxed Titles rank, because it's the only title that I see needing hard work in the same fashion that you might need to farm faction in PvP. If I put the Maxed Titles and Fame ranks next to each other, I can see how the two can be just as equally tough to achieve.

It's obvious why people would want to play PvE, so there's no fear of people not playing it. Plus emotes are overrated.

Max title ranks seem to be a pinnacle of character developement and emotes associated with them would seem to be a worthwhile development of the game. Like the OP says the reard point system now gives PVP only characters the chance to unlock rare skins, some of which if im not mistaken are NO LONGER available in the current game.
So on the strength of that I think this is a good idea and would love to see it.
Wonder what the emote would be for 25 max titles? Doubt it will be better than my tiger though but who knows.

tell me, what's the difference between farming gold and GvGing for reward points ? both require a serious time investment, and the spoils from it are both bound to one character (the pvp rewards aren't accountwide unlocks, but rather "bought" equipment skins for one pvp character)
your main argument for giving a pve title emotes aswell doesn't realy make sence.
because maybe you like playing PvE ? for 2 years GvG didn't have any rewards at all, while tombs had the halls chest, yet i still played GvG 95% of the time, cause i enjoyed it more ...

"No reason to" = "Not reason not to".
Besides, the way I see it, if one title can get emotes, why can't other titles?
And I don't believe that most PvP-ers play PvP simply because they get that one emote. People PvP because they like PvP.

As an RA'er I'd like to complain that I don't get any special skins, no emotes, only one crappy title as opposed to 30 pve titles, minimal faction, no town holding, no storyline, no farming or questing with friends and guildies. PvE has it a lot better off than RA'ers. Now stop complaining.

Emotes for titles in PVE would be nice, particularly on the Koabd title track which is more difficult to obtain then bambi/wolf.

They should make a title like KoaBD but that considers only PvP titles, and another that considers only PvE. Instead of considering maxed titles, they would consider separate ranks.
Then, by increasing all PvP titles, you can use different ranks of the PvP emote, and by increasing PvE titles, you get them for the PvE.
That way people that is good in Guild Battles, Arenas, Hwro Battles, etc, could show off even without stepping a single time in their lives in HoH.
The PvE emote could be Bluish instead of orange and it should not have animals.
Maybe flowers or symbols.

I would like to put the PvP Rewards system into perspective for everyone who has signed this (because I doubt that any of you know much about it). Reward Points aren’t exactly easy to come across. It requires a time investment coupled with actual player and/or team skill. I’ll break it down for you.
For Gvg, the only way to earn reward points is through the Automated Tournament System, which cycles through 3 times daily. To actually earn points you have to place in the top 8 of a tournament (where you get minimal points…about 10), the maximum amount of points you can get per ATs is 75 for a 5 round tournament. To get the 75 you have to place first AND invest about 3 hours of your time. Now, what will 75 points buy you? Well if you have just started, you can choose between horrible weapon skins @ 10 points each, or 1.5k armor skins @ 20 points each. It takes 1000 points to unlock the Elite armor skins, where it then scales from 50 to 200 points per piece. It takes 500 points to reach Fancy weapons (Guardian branch, divine symbol, etc.) where each weapon will run you 20 points. You’ll have to dish out an additional 1000 points to reach the Exotic weapons (Zodiac, celestial, etc.), where the weapon prices scale from 50 to 300 points each.
If you look at that and say, “Well if you can get 75 points a tournament, and you need 2,500 points to unlock the highest tier for both weapons and armor that shouldn’t take too long right?”…Wrong. Even if you do win every single one of those 33-34 ATs, which no one would, especially any of you, that is also about 102 hours invested. That is without the purchase of any of the highest tier skins.
What I’m trying to get at is that unless you’re connected to a high ranked and extremely active guild you’re not going to be able to “farm” points in any sense of the word.
Hero Battle ATs do give out reward points, but the gain is so minimal it is not worth explaining.
Emotes are exclusive to Heroes Ascent. It is true that some people do actually like to HA, but in reality many are just there to grind their Hero titles out. If PvE got emotes with any of it’s titles, HA would lose all appeal it has for a lot of players. You would be essentially killing one part of guildwars in order to minimally strengthen another. The PvP reward system did not invalidate PvE in any way, nor did it weaken PvE, because in reality PvEers will still PvE, farm gold/items, buy armor and weapons, and grind titles, and PvPers will still PvP, but the active and somewhat skilled GvGers & HBers will just look a little better than before.
You said, “because if PvPers can have just about everything that PvEers have and more, why play PvE?” and that is exactly the point of the rewards system. A lot of PvPers do not want to PvE (just like the PvEers who don't want to HA or Gvg), so they are rewarded for their time and skill investment just like PvEers are, just with reward points and emotes instead of PvE titles, gold, and a storyline, and I would hope that this would encourage many of you who haven’t already done so, to pick up Gvg, Especially if you think PvE is “pointless now," and if you want an emote, go earn the fame just like everyone else.

If that was alittle confusing ill show you an example of an AT for a day.
GvG Daily A (8/20) tourney starts at 2pm EST - ends approximatly 5pm EST
GvG Daily B (8/20) tourney starts at 10pm EST - ends approximatly 1am EST
GvG Daily C (8/21) tourney starts at 6am EST -ends approximatly 9am EST
Now, most american guilds will usually do the Daily B tournament and then call it a night because ppl will have to leave. Some, that really want to get reward points, might do both the Daily A and Daily B tournaments. But because of the amount of time between each AT its rare to see a guild do all 3 and "grind" reward points.
Unlike PvE, "grinding" reward points can only be done at certain times of the day, and you need atleast 4 ppl that have been together for 2 weeks in order to attempt to get them.

/notsigned. Too many emotes as it is...too many people spamming rank emotes, should be a longer delay between uses in my opinion. I know it won't happen, but it's a nice dream. >_> Yeah, that's great that you got your wolf, but do you honestly have to flash it as often as you can just because you suck and got yourself killed in that last mission and the monk didn't feel like rezzing you? In my opinion emotes have lost their meaning anyway (except for people who arn't idiots about them), adding more would just make it worse.

If its for the KoaBD title track it takes a comparable amount of time to HA probably more for the first few ranks.
Reward points can be hard to get more so than gold but the reason for their implementation was because a lot of pvp players dont like pve enough to enjoy getting enough money for most weapons/armors. The same reason would be for the emotes because a lot of pve players dont like pvp or HA enough to go grind out the titles and emote there.
I highly doubt a pve emote would kill HA because one is still pvp and one is pve so people would just do which they like more just like how a pvper would do gvg for their items instead of pve.
If its something that would make the game more enjoyable for someone with a potentially challenging title so be it, I don't see how this could really hurt any parts of the game.
Pvpers get Pvp game play pve gets a storyline, pvp reward points pve gold, pvp and pve both have titles, PvP emotes PvE doesn't really have much to compensate for that if we want to make them about equal.
However I do agree with Deep Sea in the fact that a lot more people should try gvg its more fun than you might think and getting some new people into it would be cool.

PvE emotes would kill HA, i doubt it. Remember the HoH Chest, best drops in game, pvp exclusive. Personally when hard mode came out i was thinking these drop would end up in HM DoA(Inscribable) or FoW/UW (non-Inscrbable), but nope, HM only had the same drops in noob mode, but higher rare/max damage rate. There were no new reward in HM, except tomes.
BtW, there a many PvE titles that take over 100 hours to finish,
Kurzick/Luxon~ 500 hours, more if you use ab to get them
Teasure Hunter~ 500 hours if you open 20 chest a hour, depend on your chest running speed
Wisdom, how fast does it take you to farm 10 mil gold
Lucky/Unlucky, look at wiki for exact times, even if u afk farm it, it will cost alot of gold, and the only people who have maxed it so far had to, grasp, chrest run
Legendary Vanquisher took me around 200 hours to finish
LDoA also take months of death leveling to complete

i'm for a emote for following titles:
Sunspear R10 > example : A shining Sun will appear
Lightbringer R10 > example: The player will receive for 5 minutes these shiny white wings that the margonae paragon monster has ...
all the Racial Titles R10
examples:
Norn: A Bear, a Raven and a Wolf will appear, the Wolf will howl, the Raven will land on your Shoulder and the Bear will stand up on its 2 Back legs and go into like a fight stance with its claws
Asura: An Asura Gte will appear, that wil warp you to a randomous Asura Hide Out XD, when you go through (only you, not other players)
Charr: A big Fire Storm will appear (no attack skill, just for look ^^)
like fire storm skill, just much bigger and lot more impressive
Dwarf: A big hammer will apper smashing on an Anvil
Sylvari: (later for GW2) an emote of the Life Tree, that grows out from the earth to its full scale
i would find that awesome, and it would motivate people to farm for those reputation points to max the titles

however, I think some level of importance should activate this. All protector/guardian titles (HM and NM missions + bonus/maters) on all maps. R10 SS and R8 LB? no, way too easy to obtain. Seriously, if it happens (ie-never because anet is lazy..but thats another thread) it needs to show skill. doing the same farming run over and over does not show skill.

Anyone who is /signing is either biased, ignorant, or both. I assume emotes exist to entice people to PvP (since you guys love to remind us that PvE players consistute the wide majority of the GW player base), and that community already has enough problems without PvE'ers usurping emotes.
KOBD might be a worthy goal, but the learning curve in PvE is way easier to handle, so in the long run grinding out Hero titles is usually a fair bit harder, hence the additional reward. I'll be the first to admit I couldn've gotten my tiger faster than I did, but I'm already a couple weeks away from KoBD and my character is a paltry six months old (I made her PvE when I got my r9); getting my kitty took much longer and required a great deal more concentration. KoBD you can now bust out by slaughtering mobs over and over (4 reputation titles + SS or LB = KoBD). Giving an emote out for that is like getting an A just by showing up for a class. It's nice, but it's not actually rewarding any real hardhsip.
