what is loot scaling?

Is it some sort of nerf for farmers or what?
I just find that the loot i get from farming is way smaller than what I got 7 months ago, so I checke what was the reason, and loot scaling kept coming up in the main page.

Before loot dropped the same amount whether you were in a party of 8 or if you by yourself which made soloing much more profitable as you would get all the drops. Loot scaling was designed so that if you were by yourself, loot would drop according to party size so theoretically you would get the same number of items if you were solo or if you were a full party.

Yes, except gold weapons, green weapons and rare materials.
