Dear Anet: Why am I Dual-focused?
lyra_song
edit: Changed the title...my brain really hurts from trying to figure this out x_X I talk engrish well muchly. Thank you.
Sorry to everyone for execessive ranting, like i said, i was very very confused. Thanks to Ensign for pointing me in the right direction.
......
Im playing a lovely Restoration ritualist. I wanted to play with a staff and also wands and focii, as well as greens available to me, as well as collectors and craftable items.
So....i look up wiki and lo and behold, i get pissed.
My options for Green items:
End game Green Factions/Nightfall wands.
End game Green Nightfall Staff
End game Green Factions Focus
Alem's Remedy --> Nightfall wand
Soul Whisperer's Guardian ---> Factions focus
Thats not a lot -.-
Now lets look at the craftables.
My options for craftable items in FACTIONS:
6 items:4 focii & 2 staves
The staves both use a Spawning req 9.
Focii use Restoration req 9.
0 Wands
My options for collector items in FACTIONS:
Kainening:
2 focus
1 staff
Kurzick side:
1 cane (req 9 Channeling)
2 staff (req 9 Channeling)
2 focus
1 staff (req 9 Spawning)
1 staff (req 9 communing)
Luxon side:
1 scepter (req 9 spawning)
1 wand (req 9 communing)
2 focus
1 staff (req 9 communing)
---------------------------
So....what have we learned? Factions gives you ONE Restoration requirement wand. And thats the END GAME green wand.
Theres no craftable or collectible wands with a restoration requirement in Factions at all, although theres a spawning wand, thats it...only ONE wand using the primary attribute (stats are mediocre), the other two use Communing and Channeling requirements.
*calms down* So...i look at what Nightfall has.
Collectors:
2 wand
4 focus
3 staff
Crafters:
1 wand
6 focus
6 wand (req 9 communing)
7 staff
Edited: After double checking the wiki entries with the weaponsmith crafters, there is indeed an inscribable restoration wand called a Restoration Focus, the wiki entries had conflicting information
So....My Restoration ritualist is currently using a nightfall wand and a factions focus....but both items are called Restoration Focus:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Restora...cus_%28Wand%29
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Restoration_Focus
I'm wielding Restoration Focus and Restoration Focus. Dual wielding baby!
Anet. Why are my only flexible options for wands in NIGHTFALL and not FACTIONS, the native place of Ritualists? Why is there only 1 restoration requirement wand in Factions, and its the endgame one?
Things dont make sense to me. Getting dizzy. Someone explain please.
ok im done.

I made a set of staves for my Rit - each pretty much the same.
Insightful Spawning Staff of Spawning Power
Insightful Channeling staff of Channeling Magic
Insightful Communing Staff of Communing
Insightful Communing Staff of Restoration Magic
I shalt not be content until my restoration staff requires Restoration.
Rockmolder my staff please.

There are othe caps to be filled too:
* Leadership Shield for Paragons (serious in here)
* Crit strikes, Deathly arts/Shaddows arts staves, wands, focuses (half spellcaster without spellcasting equipment? This Is Blasphemy)
* Mysticism, Earth, Wind prayers staves, wands, focuses. (This is also madness.)
(notice how its noncore classes which have gaps in equipment?)

theres also nothing in the inspiration line or energy storage line in factions either....

Anet want to sell you all their games, not just one. They will do what ever it takes to screw over people who only have one.

I love the restoration ritualist as well. With Nightfall being around so long, it seems I forgot that there used to be no wands for certain attributes during Factions and Prophecies. Amongst them were healing/protection wands. Similiarly we find the same for the Ritualist. However, the following two options are great for primary weapon slots for a Restoration Ritualist:
+5 energy/+30hp Sword
OR
Brightclaw is a Unique Item dropped by Chkkr Brightclaw in Melandru's Hope.
Lightning Damage: 11-22 (Requires 9 Spawning Power)
Halves casting time of Restoration Magic spells (Chance: 20%)
Halves skill recharge of Restoration Magic spells (Chance: 20%)
Additionally, I would highly suggest the Factions End Game Straw Effigy as an off-hand. If you cannot get it through trade or buying it, I would also suggest the collector's Restoration Focus. It is a 20/20 offhand, that is a nice inexpensive alternative.
Good Luck!

So let me get this straight, the guy wants to deal pitiful damage with his wand and is pissed because there is no wand with a restoration req?
I think we can all safely ignore this.

Dr Strangelove
Most rit weapons are linked to spawning power, in the same way that most monk weapons are linked to divine favor. Theoretically, it's because the primary is so good that you should really be speccing at least 9 in it. However, spawning power sucks. Vigorously.
Just grab a +5 energy sword and move on, its not like you need wand damage anyway.

Jesus tap-dancing christ. Restoration Ritualists RESTORE. They heal your damage.
-.-
My post is about WHY ARE THERE RESTORATION WANDS but NO INSCRIBABLE RESTORATION WANDS.
Why cant i customize my restoration wand? Isnt that the point of inscribable items?
Theres FIVE (5) Restoration requirement wands between Factions and Nightfall.
However, theres no inscribable version. The inscribable versions use communing or spawning or channeling
Theres no consistency.
If you make a wand with some requirement, and offer it as collectable and craftables and GREEN, why isnt there an inscribable version that you can craft?
Is there something about restoration that would imbalance the game?
======
The other professions cannot even be compared since those lines have ZERO items to begin with. Thats consistent.
Theres no requirement leadership shields. PERIOD.
Its not like theres a green req leadership shield, but no droppable or craftable ones. Then it would be a good comparison.
This attribute line has 5 wands in it 2 green (same stats), 2 collector and 1 craftable.
Why didnt you just make ZERO wands to begin with and stop confusing me? ~_~
Why didnt you link ALL restoration stat wands to a spawning requirement? why are they scattered into channeling and communing also?
And how come all the Focii that are restoration related actually require restoration? They dont deviate into the other attribute lines.
LifeInfusion
Uh yeh they need to do something about this, I don't know what.
Ever since spirits got messed up, restoration and/or channeling is the way to go.

For Ritualists, weapons are irrelevant.
One word: Ashes.
Restoration Ritualists usually use Generous Was Tsungrai or Protective Was Kaolai for their good benefits and for synergy with Soothing Memories. Channeling Ritualists use the Elite Attuned Was Songkai...because the Channeling Elites are sub-par. Communing Ritualists use Mighty Was Vorizun for its huge bonus.
Most item spells have durations > recharge, so you won't have a weapon equipped often anyways.
I just use a Ssyn's Staff on my Ritualist because it looks cool.

1) Having played a ritualist in both PvE and PvP, I can say that there are very few times anyone uses ashes. The only time I can think of is VwK farming, in which case you absolutely want dual 20% HSR items.
(Well perhaps Lively Was Naomei in PvP is useful on certain occasions)
Ashes are so bad in general. Perhaps you don't like having an extra 12-17 energy, but I know I do. Especially if I am trying to protect/heal my party.
2) I would say most of the Ritualist Elites are sub-par. But I have to go with Offering of Spirit as being a contender for the Best Elite for a ritualist. With Wanderlust and Weapon of Remedy also in contention. However, OoS is in the channeling attribute.
@ the OP:
There may be a lack of inscriptable wands, but can't you honestly find one that meets the requirements you are looking for? I mean, if you have to get a wand that has req's in Spawning or Communing, what are you doing with all your attributes after you max out Restoration? I am sure you can find a wand that matches what you are looking for, and yes, the best thing ANY caster can have if they don't need the dual 20% HCT or HSR is a +5/+30 sword/axe/spear. They are clearly superior to anything else.
lyra_song
Its not really that i cannot find one to meet my needs. Like i said, im Dual focused now (using an inscribable communing requirement restoration wand....).
Its just i find this massive and i mean MASSIVE failure in item distribution logic to be downright appalling and very disturbing.
It makes about as much sense as 4 attribute/3 profession staves.

You know, the rits got this really awesome looking banjo-thing as the Factions pre-order bonus, right? +15 en without requirements? Hehe, don't you like the mighty banjo? Just like the AmEx card, never leave home without it.
Respect the banjo!

Thanks!

Why isn't there a craftable Restoration wand, and a Communing req thing called "Restoration Focus" in its place?
Maybe because it's an obvious bug that no one had thought to report?
Or maybe, Guildwiki is wrong, and if you talk to those crafters you find that, indeed, those wands are Restoration req and it's reported incorrectly.
It being a mistake is not nearly as fun as thinking that this was a deliberate attempt to screw your character by Arena.net though, right?
Peace,

Yes, the wand is called a Restoration Focus. The Guildwiki Entry is right....and wrong. -.- The two entries for the weaponsmith in nightfall for Shausha:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Weapons...28Nightfall%29 and http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Shausha
The two entries had conflicting information on the requirement for the wand.
I have corrected it, she does craft a Restoration requirement inscribable wand. \o/
Im so happy to be wrong. It means im not going completely crazy X_X. I will edit my OP.
BOTH items are still called restoration focus however...
see?
---------------
Ok so in Nightfall....you have options as a Restoration rit for wands. Thats nice. Thats good. Good for Nightfall...
But....Why is the only restoration wand in Factions the end game wand? Why isnt there any collectable or craftable restoration wands when the Focii exist.
Series
LOL dual wielding. If only I could get my Victo's Hammers to do that.

I'm still confused at why Anet made +15%dmg^Ench wands for certain collectors in NF in place of other more useful mods :s
People are actually gonna wand people to death with this uber increase in DPS? O.o

How about assassins? As an assassin you are restricted to dagger mastery. I have a critical strikes build and am currently working on a deadly arts assassin. Are there any weapons at all for creating one of these builds? Nope! So far my deadly arts assassin runs around with no req. junk to fight with and supplement my energy. It would be nice if all attributes for all the classes had a choice of weapons.
How about some shurikens (throwing stars) for critical hits.
Or some blow guns for Deadly arts.
Not to mention 3 sectional staffs, nunchakus, batons, and many other weapons commonly associated with assassins.

Pre-nightfall, monk and rits could only get weapons for their defense attributes with a req in the primaries, spawning and divine favour.
Since then some stuff has been added, like the 20/20 divine, divine req staff outside port sledge was switched for a 20/20 healing one in some update, but not everything is all up to date and consistent yet ^_^
The restoration focus one is just bad naming, they really should change that.

As for additional primary weapon types for the sins, it would be nice if there was more of a variety like the warrior has, but alas assassins only get daggers and Dervishes only get scythes and I don't think it will ever change. At lease the Ranger gets different types of bows...

Srsly...I would love throwing stars for my Sin....whom I deleted...cuz I hated the limited choices in character gen and got sick of looking at her wacked out hair. Ninja stars would make me consider resurrecting her. That, and snazzy kimonoesque armor. Geisha Sin FTW
On topic: I've noticed the same wackiness with Rit equipment myself. It's part of the reason mine is still dancing naked on noob island. I want to get her some sweet equipments...but...haven't seen a whole lot I like. However, I'm content to see what GWEN brings. In the meantime I'll just pursue my goal of getting her to lvl20 off nothing but Dragon Arena kills, lol
