Hi, my name is Yong. I'm going to start Guildwars soon and I have SOOOOO Many questions to ask!

1) What version whould I get? Sanction, Nightfall, or just Guildwar?

2) What job? I want to get a strong, good for PvP, GvG, PvE(I have no idea what PvE is), ranged, and good for training, so basically, balanced, but still strong, it this is not possible, just the best build..(Please put what skills I should get)

I would really like to know these questions to get answered, I really appreciate you help! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~!~!~!~!

2) Ranged, and balanced and for pve. Erm... Ranger, ele, nerco will fit the description.

But since you want to pvp, gvg, you should get all 3 chapters of gw. Almost all builds do not work well without any of the chapters. (With the exception of some memser build)

1. Get all three. And what the heck is Sanction? There are three chapters, Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall.
2. It is a profession, not a job. And there is no training in Guild Wars, you just do quests to level, all professions are equal at that. Ranger would probably be best for you. And PvE is the storyline apect of the game. And for PvP do NOT use a PvE character, just make a PvP only character, it is much more versatile and has all the best equipment from the start and is at level 20.

EDIT: I really used and too many times to start a sentence. *goes to do grammar homework*

I think he meant Factions when he said Sanction.

Please do keep in mind that GW is very different to FF11 or whatever game that have job system in. And GW is not a common mmorpg, take your time with it. Visit wiki if you want to learn more.

And have fun.

My advice is to just play the game and learn along the way. You do not need to be the best player out there from day one.

LOL! Yes you do. You never should start a sentence with and or but (I think, check your text book. lol).

Okay, Thanks for your help. And I can't get all three versions of GW. Only one, then I'll get the other one's time to time. My questions will be changed from time to time as well. Here are my new ones:

1) I want to be a Necro or Ele I guess... I'm guessing I can't get all the skills on that profession so which ones should I get? Put down the names please.

2)Since I can only get one version which one? Factions, Nightfall, or Guildwars 1.

Please add more important info if needed. THANKS

1) There is no best build in Guild Wars, only good ones the game is pretty well balanced. As for the skills, you probably won't be able to get them all right away because you have to unlock them. My advice, is to first start a PvE character, learn the game basics, mechanics etc. That way you'll start to unlock some basic skills and get a little experience before you get into PvP.

Also builds in PvP have a tendency to change rapidly so some of the builds we could give you may be outdated when you start to PvP. This is mostly due to rebalancing from anet and the community finding good counters to those builds. There is a build section on guru, so you can take a look there.

2) Either prophecies or Nightfall. The thread ichigo pointed to is the best explanation to which GW you should buy. And Guild Wars 1 is commonly refered to as Prophecies by the community, if you didn't already knew that info will be useful.

Yeah thanks. I will probably get Nightfall.

1) If I play nightfall and get the next chapter that comes out, what happens? Is it just like a patch kind of if I install the newest cd? What happens?

2) What is farming?

As to 1); Once you acquire a key for any chapter or expansion you'd need to add that to your account. Do this from the log in screen, there's a link below where you normally type your accountname/password. This will give you acces to that new content. Any new content will be automatically downloaded from the Arena.net servers without you needing to do anything. Alternatively if you bought the box, there will be cd's included, you could use those if you prefer this ( or are on a slow connection, like dial-up or w/e)

for 2) This is a bit lengthy to explain here, look here for an explanation. Bookmark that site, it's probably the biggest source of GW knowledge on the web.
edited for typo's

I would really suggest that you buy prophecies. there is no introduction to the game in nightfall and factions.

I'd say i agree with Coloneh on this one in part because it has the best intro to the game. The one in factions in completely missing and in Nightfall it's there but pretty much missing too. Also the expansion coming out this year is tied to the prophecies storyline so it might be more interesting to know the story behind th expansion too. If you can i strongly recommend getting both prophecies and nightfall, doesn't have to be both right away though.
