Hardest Mission
Sir Kilgore
All a thread like this tells you is whether or not you've found a good set of builds for a particular mission or been with a group that has.
For anything in PvE, once you figure out at least one way to beat a mission or boss then it's just a question of whether or not you make mistakes. For instance, getting masters on Rhilon Refuge is very difficult if you don't do something to change the earth damage to another type of damage and/or interrupt the Drought. You can get your whole party wiped in seconds.
However, if you bring the right skillsets, it's one of the easiest/quickest masters in the game to get.
I hero/hench most things personally, and there's only a handful of missions that cause problems. These are usually timed missions and/or require fighting on 2 fronts simultaneously, but most of those can still be mastered with H&H.
Eternal Grove is a pain without humans, but fairly easy with folks who know what they are doing.
Same with THK - and several other missions, imho.

With respect to hard mode:
Prophecies: Thirsty River
Factions: Eternal Grove (also the hardest mission in the game)
Nightfall: Maddock Crevice

Proph: they were all too easy. Except those times Rurik went on those suicide runs. Can't remember which mission that was
Factions: finding a good group to kill Shiro. Once you have one it is easy as pie though
Nightfall: h/h ing Nightfall, I have to say that Jennur's Horde was the biggest pain. Mainly because of the bonus. It is just long to do alone....

It all depends if you do the bonus or not because the eternal grove for example is freaking easy, but the masters is though.
And it also depends of what class and if you have heroes or henchies. THK is one of the easiest tyria missions if you have heroes, but when you have 7 henchies its really hard.
and why people are telling that gyala hatchery is though? You just clear the map, come back to the beggining to take the turtles and go to the end with, there should be just a few monsters.
Prophecies: THK(if you dont have heroes), Abbadon mouth (bonus=impossible)
Factions: they're all easy to complete but very hard to do masters. nahpui took me 23 minutes and I had 3 SF.
Nightfall: sebelkeh and GoM

Thunder79
Prophecies: Thunderhead Keep...easy now...but hard initially.
Factions: Boreas Seabed...only because it's killed two of my Indomitable Survivors so far...other than that I'd say the only one I found hard to begin with was Aborstone.
Nightfall: Gates of Madness...this is the only mission I still have trouble with.
in Normal Mode...I've only tried a couple of missions in hard mode...nothing too difficult yet.
I've gotten protector for all continents...

I assume these are for HM? If so...
Prophecies, Aurora Glade
Factions, Eternal Grove
Nightfall, Dzagonur Bastion i guess, none were really hard.
Arborstone isn't really hard, just incredibly frustrating.

If one treesinger dies, you resign and try again.

prophecy....none....did them all with henchies and had no problems and now with heros its a cake walk. (though with bad pugs aurora and dunes can be a pain).
factions....still hate the palace trying to get the bonus. (though napuli seems to be a bonus that eludes my characters for a while)
nightfall....gate of madness is just toooo long to do and then die running to the shrine and start all over again. ugh.

normal reward:
proph - ring of fire
factions - raisu palace
nightfall - gate of madness
bonus/masters:
proph - aurora glade? is that the one with the demagogue?
factions - eternal grove
nightfall - jenuur's horde
overall hardest thing: probably jenuur's horde masters reward.

Barring that, a SV Necro with Awaken the Blood destroys Shiro.
For first time through the game, I found these to be the hardest:
Prophecies: Abaddon's Mouth. Team ran into Willa the Unpleasant and Cairn the Destroyer. Took us two hours to pull them apart and finally kill them since it was the first time through for pretty much the entire team. It's a year later and I still remember the exact place and which bosses they were . ..
Factions: Eternal Grove for Master's
Nightfall: Didn't really find any mission hard since by this point of playing GW, I was just using henchies and/or heroes for everything already.

Prophecies: THK
Factions : Aborstones (the knockdown and noobs often ruins it)

Prophecies - Nothing really... I hate doing Icy Caves of Sorrow (really! I've never done this mission!)
Factions - I just hate Gyala Hatchery, but because Im Kurzick now (one of the reasons changing sides was... this mission), I think that it'll be Vizunah Square. I remember I had 2 survivors to go through this mission and I almost got heart attack... Everytime I get stupid Rt/W and W/Rt friends, that dont attack and think that rezzing is for henches, people at level 5 from Prophecies or something worse...
Nightfall - Well, only two missions were really HARD. Jennur's Horde or Gate of Madness. But since I made to Hard Mode, I guess my vote goes to Jennur's... It's just freakin' hard that I never made it.

Hmm. Vizunah always was an easy one for me, just bring two high lvl MM's and masters guaranteed. All sorts of spirit spamming ritu's also rock in this one. Gyala is the hardest Factions mission i think.
Steboy93
Prophs: I actually found elona reach quite hard, namely due to there always being one leeroy in the team and afk players
Factions; Tannaki Temple probably (found arborstone easy, got masters with no probs first time )
Nightfall: Not completed yet (due to not being able to access Vabbi until last week due to graphics drive crashing upon entry )
I think THK isn't really that hard, i find it incredibly fun and pretty easy to do with a decent PUG

Prophecies: Nolani Academy (hate the bonus, when i'm doing it at low level), Riverside Province bonus, Sanctum Cay (thank god for runners!), Thirsty River.
All missions after that were easy for me
did ThK first try with a PUG, really easy

Yes, I know the easy method to complete Gyala, but i never achieved masters on this mission the way it was designed to (by activating turtles from the start).

Prof - Thanks to heros, they are all pretty easy now. I'd say... dragon's lair just for the fact that it's kinda long.
Factions - Tanakai Temple, stupid Togo and Mhenlo prevent you from pulling in a few parts (most notably at the ranger boss) and teams often get wiped by the over aggro of afflicited and temple guardians when you're stuck with AoE damage in that narrow coridoor.
NF - Dzangan Bastallon, this mission is the sole reason all my characters now pick Margrid the Sly. HM masters on this is near impossible. Requires 2 MMs.

Dunes of despair bonus.
Killing shiro (though it's often a case of masters or bust, but i missed it by 6 seconds last time, lol)
Dzagonur bastion.

Prophecies: Maybe THK. None of them are difficult really.
Factions: Arborstone maybe. Just the end. None are too hard again, really.
Nightfall: Jennur's Horde and Grand Court. Grand Court is sometimes easy, sometimes hard. Both are excruciatingly annoying.

People say now that none of the Prophecies missions are hard, sure that may be the case now when you have more GW experience, new skills and heroes. But thinking back when you first played the campaign it may have been a different story. To me the most difficult Prophecies mission at that time was definitely Thirsty River.
Navaros
In normal mode there are zero hard missions in any of the GW games.
Divinus Stella
Missions where you rely on others are usually the hardest, Vizunah Square for example, so many bad teams entering from the Local Quarter that its hard to get Togo to stay alive.
Dasha Vestibule has Goren, who usually waits right until the end before trucking into the Searing Flames boss, or lagging behind and getting taken out by the ice beams, very easy to prevent but still harsh.
I dont think any HM missions are hard, so far ive only done them on request with guildies when they have wanted them so it takes the edge off them.

Prophecies: Thirsty River, usually because of people dropping.
Factions: Eternal Grove, not enough people there, but heroes made this doable.
Nightfall: The one where you have to kill Shiro.

I agree with the previous poster; in NM there arent any missions that are really tough in all three campaigns. However, if you want masters and are hero/henching it, the three that come to mind are:
Prophecies: Dunes of despair (The bonus is.....ugh. Have not figured out how to do it with hero/henches in one go yet)
Factions: Eternal Grove (Requires really good timing between waves and a damage heavy party. Have done it a number of times)
Nightfall: None (Even Dzagonur bastion is easily doable with all hero/hench team)

Lord Natural
Nothing is much of a challenge in normal mode, especially after playing through HM. These are what I'd consider the hardest missions in HM.
Tyria: Dunes of Despair.
This one took a few tries. Getting the bonus done using the CC trick wasn't too bad. Strangely enough, it took more tries to do the main mission afterwards. The Arcanist earth eles do a lot of damage. Had to adjust my build just for them.
The 8 man missions were all pretty easy for the most part. Got them all on the first try except THK, which took 2. The 4 man missions were a challenge at first but it got easier once I put together the right build. I think Nolani might be hard, but I got lucky and Rurik got stuck on a chest at the end and let me finish the mission in peace.
Elona: Toss-up between Johnur's Horde(sp?) and Gate of Pain.
Johnur's was a challenge using H&H, and was the last mission I completed for Guardian. You get very little time between waves, especially once they get to 6 per group. It wasn't so much that those groups of six were difficult themselves, but there just wasn't a lot of time to progress and kill other groups in the 1 min or so you get between waves. The 2 bonus harbringers in particular are so far out of the way that by the time I ran up, agroed the group, and ran back down, a new wave was coming at me from the middle. I got all the harbringer's killed and made a run at Nightfall, but because I'm a noob I didn't know he needed 3 lights to be killed instead of 1. By the time I'd discovered my error, my hench had all but wiped. In a last ditch effort I ran the last 2 lights to nightfall while the group of demons ran for my NPC at the start. Through a stroke of luck I killed Nightfall before they got to the NPC.
Gate of Pain was difficult simply because there's only so much you can do with 3 hero slots. The Torturewebs will wipe your group easily with Liquid Flame and Fireball, so you need stuff like shelter, migraine or dazed, a load of interrupts, etc. Fitting all of that into a H&H setup, plus adequate healing and damage, required more patience than I had. I just got a friend to help and we completed it easily with a full setup.
Cantha: I don't like Cantha and haven't tried HM there.
Edit: Meant to say Gate of Pain, not gate of madness.

Here are the most challenging I've found so far... I won't say that they're difficult because there's always one strategy that works, but this is just coming from my PoV
Prophecies: Aurora Glade (I avoid that mission and take the long way round to Denravi)
Factions: Eternal Grove (manageable if I can find a good PUG... Anyone want to help my assassin get through it?)
Nightfall: Dzagonur Bastion (though I'm only halfway through the storyline so far so no doubt I'll find tougher missions later)
