I agree with that the other guild leader said. It doesn't have anything to do with seriously antisocial behavior. People in the guild get weird about the guild leader going on DND believe it or not and Away doesn't work because you still get inundated with pms. There are sometimes when I have very limited time to just hop in, do a quest and then get back to real life. When you log in as a guild leader, most days you can spend at least 15 -20 minutes just answering all of the pms you receive and then if that's all the time you had to play anyway it's gone. And yes, if you don't answer all of your pms, then people do get bent out of shape. I'm also not saying that I don't love being a guild leader and maybe a guild's not for me in anyway. There are just some days where you just need to chill and play. It's not a feature people are saying they want to use all the time because they have social problems, but a nice added convenience if needed.

I know the topic's old, but there is still no way to log on being offline...

I think, that enabling button N (Friend List) on character choosing would be enough, ofcourse if the status remained unchanged after choosing it and logging on character.

I guess I'm socially retarded, but sometimes I don't want anything to do with people. Option would be a blessing then.

Signed, as a guild leader, whenever I log on I get bombarded by at least 4-5 different people whispering me. Being able to set it to offline as the OP said would be a blessing some days.

Just log on and then immediately set your status to off-line... They already gave you the option of being able to play yet show off-line.

what great guildies you guys are, you say that you log off and jsut go to offline mode. How about you just tell the person u wanna do some stuff alone, then you can avoid all the trouble, as someone mentioned above, social problems!

If you want to play undisturbed there is a DnD option, even a guild leader can do that, but if a Guild Leader is not willing to answer all his guidlies questions then i just think that person isnt set for the job or has hired pretty bad officers (which help with those kinda things, mhm!)

i swear we used to be able to do this. when did it change? and why can't we have it back?

any time i log on to farm, i'll end up swapping to multiple other characters, then back to my farmer. it'd be nice not to have my whole alliance come asking me for help just cause i show as online on another character for 30 seconds.

not that i mind it, truly, but if i'm all set up for farming or vanquishing or something, being able to swap back and forth without showing as online would be a boon. (the swapping is for salvaging, IDing, etc. we seriously need account wide titles too, but that's a different topic.)

so, yeah

It IS possible. When Eye of the North gameplay video's were spread around, together with that interview showing footage (and the new armors where everyone shouted reskin), there was in the Character Log-in screens bottom-middle an Online/DnD/Away/Offline thingy iirc.
With that, I think it wouldn't be that hard for Anet to put it in.

Unless I'm totally wrong about the above. Don't have the link to that video anymore =/

heres the problem. You may have missed it in the OP. When you log in then "log off" it shows on guild roster. That means some people might get all pissed off that you dont want to talk to them. Sometimes if you are in a guild or have a large friends list, you do not want to mess with people. Crappy day at work/school and you just want to spend a mindless hour or two killing things and being on your own. To many people take this game Waaaay to serious and get pissed if your on/off cause they know you are there and didnt want to talk to them.

so again

and DND does not work all the time. This would.

It's not very hard to press "N" and set yourself to Offline status.

Maybe, just MAYBE though...
If you could set your status, to only be able to interact with people in your friends list / guild / alliance.
If that was the case I'd /Sign.

Personally I wouldn't need it that much since I just tell people that I want to be left alone for a while. I do not even use DND in case there is something important. Most of the people I know understand that you need a solo break once in a while.

However, seeing the Free Services section here and considering Guild Leaders are just as human as everybody else I wouldn't mind the option for others.

I can imagine some nice guy offering a free service here being PMed 24/7 cause people are generally too lazy to try things on their own before asking others.

i think this is a good idea but it could be taken one step further if they where to implement this at all. and that is just make it so you can set your status from the login screen. eather away, dnd , or offline.

The idea's been around for a while, and maybe it'll get implemented...hopefully.

It's mostly for when you switch characters and you don't want people to know, especially for GvG. Obviously it'll be great for the antisocial people that don't want to be mean signing on and off, but whatever.

I would love this for the times I log in for like a single RA match, and end up getting conned into helping out guildies in xyz mission.
