Heroes in GW:EN, do I need Nightfall?
Zeander
HellO all. I know we know little of the upcoming GW:EN and GW2, but perhaps someone can clarify this for me. I have read that in GW:EN, 10 new heroes will be introduced. Now, will I need Nightfall in order to access these heroes or are they available for everyone?
I'm going to thow my own speculation out there and say that a few of the new heroes will be from the different races.

That's a pretty interesting thought. If you're willing to wait that long, then you probably won't.

Actually if u read the write up for GWEN u will see all u need to access GWEN you have to have only one of the existing games. so you won't have the nightfall heros. but u should have access to the GWEN heros.

If you don't have Nightfall, you need Nightfall.

Well looks like the spelling police got me again...
I actually do have Nightfall, was asking for my friend who plans to buy it in a month or so. Seeing as GW:EN supposedly comes out within a few months, figured it would be kind of pointless to get NF now.

It was stated somewere (strong suspicion it was in a Gaile Chat) that you wont need nightfall to access the new heros. I would guess these heros play a part in the storyline so it is logical you would not need nightfall for these heros. In one of the previews it was stated there will be heros of other races one being possibly an Asura.

First off, anybody who doesn't own Nightfall is missing a fantastic Guild Wars experience (a few minor things aside). But Free Runner is correct from what I've read as well: if you can play GW:EN, you will get access to the heroes it contains. And to play GW:EN, you need at least either Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall.
It still really wouldn't be pointless to get Nightfall now - your friend would be able to get through the story and level a character up to 20 by that time.

I just want an asura hero. Specifically, an asura warrior hero, and give them a Vera, or some other big weapon

Every time i lag
gimme a char hero lol
Omega X
In EVERY GW:EN Preview, it is stated that you can use ANY Guild Wars Chapter to access what Eye Of The North has to offer, including all GW:EN skills, armor, weapons, and Heroes.
That means:
Guild Wars: Prophecies > Guild Wars: Eye Of The North
Guild Wars: Factions > Guild Wars: Eye Of The North
Guild Wars: Nightfall > Guild Wars: Eye Of the North
That means:
Guild Wars: Prophecies > Guild Wars: Eye Of The North
Guild Wars: Factions > Guild Wars: Eye Of The North
Guild Wars: Nightfall > Guild Wars: Eye Of the North

I agree that if you don't already have nightfall...you need nightfall (-:
Edgar The Crosseyed
Ehm isnt it stated very clear or am i missing something! You only need either prophecies or factions or Nightfall to acces GWEN! So i.e If you have one of the three you can have acces to GWEN heroes! Seems quite clear to me tbh
Warrior Of The Toon
No matter which chapter you have, you get your heroes in GWEN, or so it appears. But to keep you going until then, and get the most out of GW, you should buy... GWN!

I would assume that you get access to the 10 GW:EN heroes only, Nightfall or not, since any campaign can access all of GW:EN.
-Loki-
WTB Variable profession hero. Gwen, mayhaps?
FlameoutAlchemist
^ That would be interesting, Loki, if we actually did get Gwen as a hero. Based on Gwen's random comments in-game, and the fact that she lost her mother and home during The Searing, my money's on her being a mesmer hero.
But to the OP, I seriously doubt that you need NF to get the heroes. When I got NF, there was no special box that immediately popped up on my screen telling me that I was special enough to earn the right to get heroes. If you don't have NF you won't get the NF heroes, but with GW:EN you'll get access to GW:EN heroes.
Hope that all makes sense.

Oh, and Gwen sucks. I'm not taking that into my party... EVER! Level 11 Goren > Gwen. I'd rather have a hole in my party.
