Drawing of my Character =P

Decided to make a drawing of my Guild Wars character and post it here.=D Used a screenshot of my character as example and mixed it a bit with my own style. Opinions are welcome, same for constructive cristicism...oh but don't start about cleaning up the lines, I know they're very pixel-ish.XD

Alrighties, about commissions...I'll set a few rules.
*Everytime I finish a commission I will allow you to ask for a commission of your character. First come first serve. Don't ask for a commission if someone else has already posted before you, just wait till next time. That way I won't get waiting lines.=P

*Don't PM me for commissions, just post here. You can PM me pictures of your character if you think they're too big to post in the thread.XD

*I would like it if you could give me pictures of your character in PNG, because JPG is low quality.=X

*I'll do commissions for free, but I'd appreciate it if you'd give something for it.=D I'm not accepting items, though, there are a few exceptions:
-Elemental Sword XD
-Miniature Kuunavang =3
-Globs of Ectoplasm
-Obsidian Shards
-Lockpicks
Contact me ingame for payment: Lord Milennin

*Uhm, yeah that was it I guess...oh yeah, one more thing. I'm not doing commissions for people who typ like this: "cud u plx drw meh charater for meh"...okay, that was a bit extreme, but the point is I want to see normal English in my thread.=)

Heheh, thanks for the comments.=D I wouldn't mind doing a commission, but I'm not so good at drawing female characters.=( But I'll give Dont Mess WithMe's Ranger a try today (or tomorrow). If it turns out ok, I might try another commission (good practise).XD

EDIT: Ok, finished the drawing.

I think she'd look better if u have the right line of her face a bit more to the left, or her mouth and left eye more to the right. I like the pixel thingy

Hah, yeah. Maybe.=P I'm just not used to drawing female characters. 99% of my drawings have been males (because they look better with huge swords and badass axes).

@ Milennin= That's really cool, I really love it!! I think for not being used to drawing female characters, you did an awesome job. I really appreciate it.

Nah, it's ok asking for commissions.;P I don't need money for it, but you're welcome if you want to give me something.=D Because if I have to work for money I feel forced to make it look good, and that's not good for my inspiration.=\
Oh yeah, and Don't Mess Withme, payed me for the drawing this evening, so don't worry.=D

Well if people sign up for your commissions you shouldn't feel forced to make it look really good, it looks good already or people wouldn't have signed up to begin with. Just something to consider, some artists will only charge ~5k for commissions which isn't that much but it brings in some money after awhile.

Keep up the good work can't wait to see more from you.

Nice work! Reminds me of old C64/Amiga loading screens ^^ Pixel art ftw!

As far as commissions, prices, and waiting lists go, I give you this advice: worry about the image first, and everything else second. If you think it will be fun to do, and will look good - draw it - worry about the price, and the persons place in the queue etc later. There's a good reason I stopped having a chronological queue system in my commissions, they are not condusive of artistic inspiration! Once you've agreed to such a system, it will only lead to disapointment for a large majority of people, because demand for commissions outstrips even the speediest artist, and as an artist, you are all-but forced to work on any and all works (even if they dont interest you) simply by virtue of the fact that the person got their "flag" in the queue at a particular time.

It does actually surprise me that people are being scolded for showing an interest in newer artists, and trying to encourage them to produce work by requesting commissions. Personally, I take the fact that people are wanting to pay for my work as a compliment, not an insult O_o

The simplest solution to the "dibs on a commission" style posts, would just be for all us art hos to start their own "I Want Commissions" or "My Commissioned Pictures" threads and have the first page contain character pictures and info. Then, whenever posting in a new art thread, you could simply say somthing like: "Oh, and if you ever want to do commissions, I'd be interested (link to my commission request thread)" or somthing of the sort. That way, you are letting the person know that you appreciate their work, and should they decide they want to do commissions, they know where to find you.

I think that the best thing a person can do if they are interested to find out if an artist does commissions or not is as simple as this:
Ask if he/she does commissions, then the artist can say yes/no, and once it is completely clear that the artist is doing commissions, then people can get in line or whatever the artist decides should be done.
The whole camp/flag system is a pain in the ass, because even if the artist hasn't said yes to do commissions you might still end up number 7 in the line even though you are the first person to see the response.
But if you want an honest chance of getting in front of the line you need to a) be really lucky and see a thread that says "Doing commissions", and be the first to respond in it, or b) plant your flag before everyone else in a thread where you have no idea whether commissions are being taken or not.

Basically, what my suggestion to fix the problem is, is to somehow make the flag-system unused, or make it useless. Artists could say: "I'm not taking commissions from people who just flag. Once I say I'll take commissions, I'll do the requests as they come" just for an example.

I'm really sorry that your thread got turned into an argument, it's a real shame.

On-topic: I love your style, gonna get some pictures up for my turn soon, you're doing real good

EDIT: Okay, I'd like you to draw my warrior, Kuno Mosh.

He is a proud warrior who puts all his energy and focus into the task at hand.
And he's all yours now :P

Scorpion, your art is also very nice.;D

I finished Kenichiukiya's drawing. Maybe not what you had hoped for but I think it's pretty cool.=D

I'll do yours next, Rainbird.=P
Added rules for commissions to my first post, so read if you want a commission from me in the future.=P

Oh yeah, and could a Moderator remove some posts in this thread. I probably won't have to say which ones I'd like to have deleted.XD

Why do people think MSP is so bad? It's the best small scale pixel work tool I've ever used, but it could do with a layer system...

I have to ask, about how long does it take you for these pieces. I know MSP is a major pain to work with, especially the scale of effort you have put into these pieces.

Well Milennin...now I understand your comment about PNG format. LOL ... you do the art in MSPaint! Thats really amazing! I was surprised at your comment at first because PNG only supports 24 bit color in RGB format....unlike JPEG which of course supports 32 bit color in both RGB and CYMK. Also JPEG can be made smaller if neccessary or almost no compression at all. If ya decide you wanna give real painting programs a shot...just check out Artweaver, the GIMP or Open Canvas. The first two are free to download as is the early version of oC....but finding one of the early versions is the hard part.

I hope you don't me answering this Mil =P He already has a 'real painting' program, Photoshop CS2 (let's say I was involved in him getting it =P). As for formats I'm pretty sure he bmps and then uses a GIF animator for transparency, as it saves a lot of time and memory compared to waiting to PS to start up... (and of course transparent PNGs haven't been supported by IE for very long).

PS - Personally I'm a JPG & PNG man =P

Backgrounds add another 1-2 hours, also depends a lot on how much detail I add to it.
And yeah, I have Photoshop CS2, but I'm so bad with it and it takes much more time for me to colour with it (tried it a few times).XP

Anyway, finished Rainbird's character. And yes, I know it took a while, but I started saving for an Elemental Sword, so payment is very much appreciated.XP

I do think the right eye (for the viewer) should look more to the right or the left eye more to the left ^^
