Well... that is the quickest chunk of cash I have ever aquired out of the blue.
To set the story out in short steps (without totally losing the point):
#1. I found I had too many pieces of cloth and rather than sell them to a standard merchant I wanted to sell them to a material trader to make a slight profit.
#2. I was in Zehlon Refuge... but didn't want to deal with Kamadan (I don't like it), so I decided to sell in Haus Zu Heltzer... which involved going through Kaineng Center.
#3. While in Kaineng Center for all of 5 seconds... yes... 5 seconds... I noticed someone asking to buy a Req.9 15^50 Mursaat Hornbow. Now I happened to know I had a Gold Mursaat Hornbow in storage, though I wasn't sure what it was worth. I kept it because it looked pretty.
#4. I go to check my gold storage character and find out the Mursaat Hornbow is indeed Req.9 15^50 ... so I stick it in the Xunlai box and get it out with my Assassin....
#5. I sell the Mursaat Hornbow for 100k +25e ... which while not quite halfway up the recommended price, is WAY more than I ever expected it to be worth.
#6. I tuck the money and ecto in storage, nip on over to Haus Zu Heltzer... and trade in my 49 cloth for 227 gold....
=P
I can't help but wonder what other golds I have stashed away in storage that might be worth a small fortune.... 0_o; ... I'm SUCH a pack-rat...
Anyone got any words of wisdom to impart.... or tales of similar completely random uber-sales? ....

I'm not using those Ectos as currency. If I can get any more, I'm saving them for FoW armour. ^_^ |
I wish you luck!
Ehm ecto=shard price in the coming future im quite sure! As an old threat stated b4 there isnt a need for a currnecy called Ecto anymore! The only reason ectos are dropping is because the old Wealthy people are Affraid and very Affraid! they trade in their ecto as crazy men only to get more lockpicks which are more price secure!
nouf said about that!
Good thing about the sale!
b4 selling anything to anyone just check out guru auction for the current bidding on them and go +15% or +20% above that price in game since in game traders are slow :P
haha

#1. My assassin I was using in the first place. He is the one I had the cloth with... he is the character who has access to the most outposts (only character to have completed all three campaigns. I was just taking him through Kaineng when I heard it.
As for why I didn't sell with the character who HAD the Mursaat Hornbow... that'd be because Amazing Storage Kim, my gold-storage character.... is a level 3 Ranger whose furthest wanderings are as far as Tsumei Village. My assassin was already in kaineng... so I transferred the item over to him.
#2. Why Haus Zu Heltzer? ... That requires a slightly more fanciful explanation: I'm a Kurzick. I'm a die-hard Kurzick. I'm also a roleplayer. Aside from that, I like Haus Zu Heltzer more than Kaineng Center... and I like Kaineng Center more than I like Kamadan (due to my liking Cantha more than Elona). Factor in also that I dislike people and dislike spam... and it becomes clearer why I was making a beeline for Haus Zu Heltzer. Besides... HzH is actually smaller, which means less running, and less people means it is easier to click on the right merchant. PLUS I don't have a materials trader in my guildhall.
Plus I'm Aspergian... and just downright weird in my habits...
I insist on all my characters being in specific places when I log out, so they all have separate images behind their face icons on the login screen... For instance I often keep my Assassin in the Bone Palace for the Desolation Background. I keep my Necromancer in Lutgardis Conservatory for the Echovald background. I keep my monk in the Astralarium with the Istan background. I keep my Elementalist in Senji's Corner for the Kaineng Background. I keep my Dervish in Yohlon Haven for the Kourna background.
On the odd occasion they can change... such as when I move my Necromancer to somewhere in the Southern Shiverpeaks, I'll bring Chae Soon to Lutgardis to take her place. Similarly when my necro is doing the unthinkable and farming in Luxon territory (Maishang Hills), I'll move my Assassin from the bone palace to Lutgardis... When Cot Death returns to Lutgardis, Chae Soon goes back to Bone Palace.
....I don't think a true Kurzick would spell HzH as HAUS Zu Heltzer.....unless you're a luxon-spy wannabe.
And it's still bizarre that you had to HOP to HzH when the material trader in Kaineng is very close to the storage anyway. If you can stand WHATEVER it was in Kaineng to trade the bow for that insane amount of gold/ecto, you don't have any excuse left NOT to use the material trader.....other than THE reason I don't think I should say here.
But....whatever get you through the day, right?

But anyway... that I was going to Haus Zu Heltzer was the whole point of it. I wasn't about to turn around and hunt down the material trader in Kaineng Center since I'd already made the decision that I was going to sell that material in Haus Zu Heltzer. I'd made that decision in Yohlon Haven... and I stuck by it.

As for me, I loathe having to travel through Kaineng Centre and Kamadan when switching continents also and have developped a habit of selecting the highest numbered district in each trading town to map into, so as I avoid the majority of the spam on my way through, not to mention they're quieter and tend to load faster. Furthermore I tend to almost always keep local and trade chat turned off. I wish I liked spending time in Kaineng Centre more as I love the background music in Kaineng. I too hoard like mad and may well have many saleable items but just never seem to get around to selling them. Note to self: Must try harder.
