Make all gold items inscribable
Lexxor
Now that they converted old armor to use insignia instead, converting items would be the next step:
Convert all gold items so that they're inscribable with the appropriate inscription attached to it. This include all old gold drops already in existance. This could possible include purple drops as well.

I have a Longsword with a damage mod of +14% all the time, and -1 energy regen. What Inscription would replace that? The energy degen is not from Zealous either, it is the damage mod alone, as its a Furious Long Sword of Defense.
Although I don't have any other weapons with mods like that, there are weapons with damage mods that do not exist as an inscription. The people with 15% damage mod, NO RESTRICTION, would get screwed by that change.
Furthermore, if people want a weapon with an inscription slot, they can get it. Either buy NF and get one from Elona, or compete in HA, or finish Urgoz/Deep, or buy one from another player. I have a req 8 Halfmoon with 13^50. I'd love to make it 15^50, but I can't. I would see the change as nice for a few things, but it would make too many things bad - in my opinion.

All items might as well be brought over to the same system. It's Anet's fault for having screwy Tyrian drops though, so all CURRENT gold items should remain unchanged. Most random tyrian golds couldn't handle being inscribable anyway.
Lexxor
A possibility would be an NPC who makes the conversion for you (weaponsmith?) for a modest fee. It will show you a preview of how the weapon will be (much like when you mod an item) allowing you to accept or cancel. For mods that can't be converted, it will pick the closest choice. If you don't like it, just click cancel. All NEW drops should automatically be with inscription slots.
Zexion
They have already spoken of this, and confirmed it is in the plans, in fact.
However, it will only count for items found after the update is implemented so people can keep their +15% always weapons.
Happy?
IIRC, they said the update would come around/with release of GWEN.

/notsigned for a global change of old non inscribable items. There are some cool combinations out there that cannot be recreated using the current insciption system.
Maybe for new item drops but honestly this would do more harm than good overall

What "they" Zexion? I haven't heard a single source confirming this other then your post.
Even if it is "in the works," I can still disagree with it. /notsigned for destruction of the economy (well even more then it already is)

Tarun
/signed - it should have become universal with the release of Nightfall.

I was always against inscriptions, I predicted the damage they will do to the economy long before Nightfall and I was right.
A big NO to changing existing items.
And if you really want inscribables, the vast majority of all tyrian/canthan skins already HAS inscribable versions!

YES! Just do it. Let the chips fall where they may. Make everything inscribable. I have some nice gold max req 7 stuff that would be great if inscribable.

/not signed for global change, it would most likely destroy my 2 -2 energy regen weapons and make all those skins you waisted time and/or money on will loose the status symbol that YOU farmed for it untill you had a perfect etc.
Lexxors idea just rocks and has no down sides ^^
RhanoctJocosa
What about the people who have unconditional weapons, old crystallines, magmas shields etc? Also, this would absolutely KILL the economy - and it's pretty fuc*ed up as it is. Let's just hope ANet aren't stupid enough to do sh*t like this. Hell, maybe they'll actually try fix the game.
The only reason people would want this is because they're either too bad at the game or lazy to actually get the items they desire. Instead, they just want their req13 strength -5 19% magmas shield to magically turn into a +30/-2. -Gtfo

At least those with perfect mods that match scriptions could be changed.
The others should be left the same, and some that are rare, like the +15^50%HP of the Icy dragon swords.

I thought you would at least have the intelligence to check the DEV CHAT? Pretty official source IMO:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10156508
Though, I have to admit, he only says "we're definately looking into it" and "it would not affect existing items", so my bad on saying they definately were gonna implement it. So if the latter is the reason you're afraid of this, don't say no, as ANet would never EVER let it affect already existing items. And that's official.
But to sum it up:
If they add this, it is official it will never affect existing weapons. So if you voted no because you were afraid it would affect your +15% always item, please change it to a sound yes.

Okay Zexion, thanks for explianing. Somebody asked them about it and they said that they were looking into in. Definately doesn't mean they are or are not doing it, so I'd like you to not state that as fact.
And, why would somebody /not sign it because it would chance their existing 15^50 weapons? Those weapons' functionalitiy wouldn't change. Its all the people with improved sale value magnus shields that could make perfect weapons that are ticking people off.

Omg, does anyone read posts? ANet has confirmed that if they implement this, it will not affect already existing items.

/signed for weapons after the update. Crystalline swords would go down the drain heh.
Best weapons in game are the ones without inscriptions (looks wise) imo.

I guess it'd be OK for items after the update, but you can't mess with previous ones or you risk screwing up the really old rare ones... but if they could somehow exclude the 15% always no penalty ones, then they should do it for pre-update too. Shouldn't mess up the economy too bad...
