Journey Towards Maxing Storage Gold

I think trading isn't just about buying from newbies who don't know about prices. Its also part of trading, but definitely not the only way. When I started trading, I look at it as a service. You don't wish to spend hours spamming WTS, and rather take the time to farm more. So, I buy from you a little cheaper (take it as commission for me), then I spend the time to sell it for a higher price. I don't see anything wrong with that.

As for buying items off newbies who don't know prices, might sounds unethical, but really, I again don't see anything wrong with that unless the buyer tried to fool or trick the newbie into selling for a lower price. And to add to that, there are alot of price guides around here, no real reason to be ignorant to prices. Even if the guides are outdated, one could at least differentiate the rare and the common items.

Ahh so you QUITTED the game. I suppose that would make sense if Quitted was a word.

Well I make my money mostly by farming, on and off trading and money from simply playing in PvE. I still get enough to buy usually whatever I want.

yep I maxed my gold including at least 95 plats across all toons before Factions came out, 5 man farming SF (I could play all 5 roles which meant I could get into any party). Back then it was easy and fast to sell.

that also led to my personal obsessive goal: collect every single green in the game. ATM the only ones I don't have are the new Drago bow, Mallyx's Strife, Recurve, axe and sword. That includes all 3 games. All of my heroes across 10 characters have greens for storage.

If someone sells something too cheap in game surely it is therefore part of the game... Anyway unethical it may be, illegal it is not. It happens in real life all the time too and is legal so its nps. People only sell for under the items true value because they are either lazy or ignorant.

I maxed my gold out along while ago so I transfered about 3.5 million of it to ecto. Now I have only a few hundred plat it pure gold

I made most of my gold power trading, then running, then farming. Havnt needed to make gold since around Factions time now so im happy.

I'm making a charge for maxed storage..currently halfway there. I've determined not to buy any more armor/weapons until I get there.
I'm thinking about trying my hand at Chest Running or even Mission Running. I remember you helping me out Kobey..mind sharing some mission tips or builds?

ive farmed 90% of my gold since i was 55 in mid july 05. made about 6-7 mill ish in just straight gold and about another 40 mil or so in items worth since i lost my req 7 15% always falchion to a merchant accident

Did i mention i have 6000 hours of it though lol. not much to do after working 2nd shift job lol.

I dun mind sharing how I do some missions if you need advice or so. Let me know specifically what you wish to know more about thru pm here or in game pm. But generally reading thru wiki should be good enough I believe. As for build wise, there are many players builds as well as hero's build posted here by other members which i took, experiment and adapt to my style of play.

I just play through the game and chest run when i feel like it. Sometimes i vanquish if im in the mood. Pick everything up and merchant it for gold. It adds up in the end. Selling the extremely common stygian gems at about 1k each also helped build my fortune. FFF can be a great way to make money if u want to take the time for all those 150 golds to add up.

Eh, I just don't see any real points to working up to, and then sitting on millions. I'm a spender, always have been, but I generally keep about 20-60k on me at all times for buying dyes, upgrades/inscriptions, runes, keys, etc. Otherwise, if I want a specific armor or weapon, then I save up for it. I've gone up to 100-200k many times, just to turn around and spend most of it on what I was saving for. No biggie. Just means I got a lot of stuff I consider nice, most of it customized (except the caster stuff), not a lot of real tradeable wealth. Just right for me - virtual money is overrated.

At this moment, I have enough wealth in ecto (125) and money (~420K) to max my storage account. Most of this was earned after 28th of April by buying/selling the minipets(I had about 25K before 28th of April).
It's not really hard to earn so much cash, I didn't need to spend most of my time spamming at all.
For example, bought a mini Gwen here on guru for 100K + 45 ecto and sold it within 10 minutes for 100K + 75 ecto.

My personal goal (besides buying some expensive armor and weapons) is to, at some point, have had each and every minipet. For this I'll need ~1500 ecto (I expect the prices of the two rarest to go up in price over time) so I'll be busy for a bit longer .

I do not farm or run missions.... ALL I DO IS SAVE SAVE AND SAVE.
If u do not spend on silly stuff u will hit 1000k in 3 mth. Just based on doing missions in game . The occasional pug fow,uw,deep, urzog run and the selling of ur rare loot helps u achieve 1000k. Trust me on this i have done this.

I only have max 500 plat in my storage all the time. More than 500plat -> Spend it. Not a big fan of holding that much money in storage.

1 way to earn money is through investment. There was a time when ectos was 4k each and after faction, ectos jumped to 15k each. I know many people became rich here. All my golds are in ectos and it dropped so much. Asset dropped by 25%. That was painful, but it is all parts of the risks.

I do not buy expensive amour, or go for skin (Maybe a little now since you can change the amour mods now) That is a way to save up.

Personally, i do not believe in pug uw/fow/deep/urgo and i seldom do them. I only do them with guild/alliance mates.

I set a target for me each day,
examples:
If the target is 20k, i will farm till i reach my target before doing other things.

I still remember during the first week of nightfall, i obtained a colossal scimitar and i merchanted it away. 2 weeks later and i saw people spamming WTB colossal +200e. That was heartbreaking.

But now, i mainly just do pvp and some pve when alliance called me to go along.

I have the worst luck

i farmed sf everyday got atleast 100k off greens.................!
sold b day presents, and CE minis...
last mission on factions.....that chest run..
saskai blades...whatever there called...farmed them before they got nerfed..
now all i do is random chest runs...i get the keyless chest...i hunt them down, and almost every week i do the deep....(starting to)
highest i got in storage was probably 600k.....and that was not to long ago before the boardwalk...

I can see it's not hard to get rich, there are many ways to do it... Time certainly helps...

I hav ebeen playing 3 months now, I have 9 chars of which 3 are my main chars... I never get more that 40K in my storage before I splash out. All 3 of those chars have nearly perfectly set up heros (Full runes, maxed weaps, etc). I feel that once I get them all up to scratch and I have nothing to spend my money on then I too will start to get rich... I've farmed well over 100 ectos but have sold them all to buy things as I go along. e.g. all 3 of my Koss's have max sundering swords and full fortitude shields, my Jins all have perfect bows and my Dunks perfect staves...

So yeah, I think once you get to 6 months to a year and you have decked out all your chars fully, then you will certainly get rich...

If you wanna go thru all 3 camps with your chars and crappy heros, then you can get rich really easily... It's simple... Play normally, Farm a bit but.... DONT SPEND ANYTHING... Guarentee you'lkl have 1 mill in no time...

Seriously though, I maxed storage gold with early Sorrows Furnace farming and selling the greens then got a stack of ecto with Harvest Farming *tear in eye*, then saved the extra cash and ecto for a Tormented Shield via Kirin farming outside Maatu. Still have roughly 1.5 mil gold and 150-ish ecto. Looks like most of it wil be going into lockpicks for titles.

I maxed my storage by 55 Mesmer Griffon farming and run SF with 4 henchies (5 include me) no party for mesmer :'(

My first FoW came from buying Bronh, Bortak, Rago Stuffs 80-100k and resell 100k+5-10e

IMO maxing gold in storage is not hard if you do it on the right time.
I did Ghail's solo with my 55 Mesmer at the first week of Factions 2-3 staves/day (100k+ at that time)
untill the price dropped to 50k so i quit.

I also did Exuro's Will farm at the first x2 green drop(or it was x3 rate can't remember) and i got 44 or a little bit more Staves, I keep few of them for my heroes and sold the rest at 50k on first day, 40k then 30k a few days later.

Well i started off selling FDS blue/purps too XD. ofc thats not so good now...

farming and merching was nice not so good now either...

selling a dead sword for 100+25 was nice too ^^

Trading is a great way to make money but the marked is quite flodded atm with most things (for example anything in nf that isnt req 8 or an ele sword is 2 for a G)Trading is hard but it can pay off if you are aware of prices and pretty paitent.

alright, im not rich yet so idk if anyone will care about my story. but ill tell it anyways and maybe someone can give me tips

so i have been playing gw for about 15 months now. and the first 11 months or so i spent dirt poor. never-went-over-45k poor. richest-moments-were-getting-superior-vigor-drop-and selling-a-lian's-lantern-for-800%-of-what-i-bought-it-for poor. (better adjectives i hope?)

i was also hopelessly ignorant of the market. honest to god i could have sold a q9 crystalline sword 15^50 for 500g. not joking here guys. i had never been to UW or FoW.

i had no idea what any trading shorthand (ie 15^50, 20/20, +30, obo) meant. my kind of trading was the noob chat filling kaining: WTS GOLD SORD 20k

i had a 55 monk, but the only thing i ever farmed was trolls and jade brotherhood knights. i had my best friend out of game make an ss necro, and we were prepared to dominate UW. but then we both got bored and quit. note that at this point i had under 1k.

in short, i was a total noob.

then, nightfall came out and we started playing again. we joined my current guild, where my leader tipped me off on tombs farming with a sin. i was poor as hell, but i had a sin and i started doing this. i made a few ectos, which i sold and used for max armor. at this point i was starting to *cough cough* accumulate money (but only like 20k).

this was all about 4 months back.

i found the e/me terra tank build and learned the smite run during the free UW weekend. i still use this build (though with Glyph of concentration rather than ancestor's visage) to farm my ectos.

during this period i also started to learn about the market. i read the gold vs. purple guide in the PC forum, along with any other literature i could find in the thing. i also began learning the rare skins and valuable greens. now id like to say i know more than the average person about the market value, and i PC stuff for guildies.

when my friend told me about the e/a farming build, i didnt really buy into it. id seen it before (its a great build for farming) but it was so widespread that i thought it would be nerfed shortly. plus EVERYONE used it. however, i still figured that it could be good for when we didnt have favor (always, im american >.>) and i thought hell, why not. i saw that a galigord's stone staff would be great for it, and it would be great for my UW runs. so i purchused one for 35k (going rate at the time). i started talking with the person who i purchased from (he is italian but speaks very good english) and we became friends. he actually showed me his farming method for getting the greens. i had never done anything in sorrow's furnace before either so this was eye opening for me. i began farming these greens.

through continuing SF farming and UW farming i began to accumulate wealth. for my standards anyways. i also did some trading, but only when i saw something going for cheap. (i.e. the galigord stone staff i bought for 15k and sold for 25k). did some IDS runs, got the free chests, etc.

then while doing urgoz on HM with my guildies and another guild taht used to be in our alliance i got a q9 zodiac sword inscribable. i sold it for 92k after posting on guru and spamming for a few days.

so that brings us to today, 4 months later, where i am worth ~500k. not great i know, but not bad considering my first 11 months of sheer poverty. im making a warrior and looking to explore the world of running and trading, while of course continuing my solo-farming of UW, and now, FoW. i dropped the SF farming due to extreme boredom and lack of profit.

so i am obviously one of the poorer people in this thread, but i though maybe my story would interest someone. all tips/hints/advice are welcome.

i only make money now to complete my collections. mini pet collection is nearing completion since i only got 2 more of the limited ones, vizu and zhed, to go. after those two, the prices for any of the remaining ones i need are either stable or going down.

once i get my mini pet collection done, i'll probably finish off my green collection since its only a few elonian ones left as well as finishing off my armor collection for all my characters.

trading is definitely the best way to go for quick profit.
