Farming Lieutenant Shagu

After farming this boss well over 100 times, probably closer to 200, I'm starting to wonder if there are other factors for him to drop Shagu's Anthem. I've been using 3 heros to help clear the enemies surrounding him, and tried flagging them away before the boss is attacked. He hasn't even dropped an experience scroll, which I always get while farming other bosses. I sometimes, after killing Shagu, continue to the other bosses in the area, most of which have dropped their greens and XP scrolls. I did do the quest Foolhardy Father and instead of paying 5 platinum I fought the creature instead. Could this or other factors be involved in whether he drops his green?

he should have dropped his green-even WITH your heroes there-when you killed him that many times... Maybe you're just REALLY unlucky and ANet hates you?

i think i got his anthems after 4 runs (i soloed with e/a) i guess u farmed him too often or ur just unlucky

can i have your build to farm him solo


because in e/a i cant kill him

I have farmed him twice, first to get that shield for myself and then for my heroes. I think I needed like three runs to get two of them.

Myself, I used Ranger beastmaster boss farming build (search). First I killed everything around him with heroes, sent them away and then killed him with my pet.

i could solo with standard e/a sliver armor though the run was really hard (u need deadly paradoxon and feigned)... and try to knockdown shagu to kill him.

Yeah I farmed him a bit with E/A, it's not easy because silver only does about 13-17 damage per hit from memory. He'll also heal at least once with Leader's Comfort, which is why knockdown could be useful.

My solution was to simply out damage him using luring 2-3 of the groups there and using Obsid. Flame, Crystal Wave and Teini's Crystals. Most of the time this got him, although it was always close and sometimes I'd die, rez and get him the second time.

Also the run to get to him I thought was ok, just used Dark Escape and Shadow Refuge.

After 20 or so runs I had got no shield and gave up. Ended up using Eye of Argon for my Paragon and her Command build.

Also forgot to mention one of my heros is a minion master. I assume that minions don't get a share of the loot since I know others who use a minion master build to farm.

Lol jacxxmaster you might be right, I did get a ban a few weeks ago for farming I assume (the you are using third party programs ban), restored in a couple of hours but who knows. I wasn't doing this, obviosuly since would just be able to buy it or have bots get it.
