Idea to a-net to save us some cash on heros.

How about we get 1 of each hero add runes and wepons and when a new toon we have unlocks that hero it will have the wepons and runes that you set up all ready on, are maybe even make heros just like a pvp player where they can use wepons and armor upgrades we have unlocked? Yes i know its a stupid idea but i would like to see what everyone else thinks about spending several plat. just to get heros up to speed. Its not like i can play my monk and my warrior at the same time so why do i have to pay to fix up 2 dunk.? I just don't get it.

I'd like to see heros work like pvp chars work by equipping them with the upgrades you already unlocked however they should make them that you can't salvage the runes.
PS This should have better been posted in Sardelac.

Although tedious, you only need to fully equip 1 hero for all of your characters.
Your Warrior has a Superior Death Rune, Bloodstained Insignia, Minor Soul Reaping, Major Vigor, and 2 Runes of Attunement for Master of Whispers. Plus, he has bought Bortaks Bone Claw and Bortaks Bone Cesta for him.
Your Ranger just got Master of Whispers, and wants to make him an MM too. But you do not have the money to buy all those runes, insignias, and weapons. No problem. Switch to your Warrior, expert salvage everything, put it into storage, and remove the weapons to place in storage as well. Reload the Ranger, and remove the items, and apply them to Master of Whispers.
Time consuming yes, but certainly possible. Only expense is the salvage kits.

While I agree that outfitting heroes can be a big expense, I don't think Anet is considering changing the dynamic that's in place. They were meant, at least in part, to be a gold sink. In exchange for better equipped/flashy henchies with custom builds, you have to pay out the nose to do it. Plus, it gives people more to "work" towards.
I think I would rather have runeless heroes with collector weapons than do what you're describing, Magma.

Wiki says: Hero armor cannot be removed, nor can it be destroyed via salvage attempts. As a result of this, Runes and Insignias can be applied and salvaged at will with no risk of accidentally destroying your Hero's armor.

yeah, but salvage kits arent free either (though if you use kourman coins and such they are cheap to get....but still).

Theres no riks in salvaging runes from heroes..
Thats what I did the other day, I needed superior Death magic on my Olias, so I went on my ranger and salvaged the rune, put in storage, went on my monk and put the rune on Olias..
I also did this with Dunkoros runes, also took hes weapons.
And what I mean with no salvage risk is that their armor wont break when you salvage..
I mean you dont have 2 characters online at the same time do you?..
Dont think ANET will do anything about it.. kinda unecessary to suggest since GW:en will be out soon, and then GW2. I think ANET has enought suggestions as it is..
And tbh, If I was to work with ANET I wouldnt change the game more than it has been. Enough is enough imo. If you arent "rich" which you dont have to be, then farm or sell stuff. Ive managed to get protector of cantha with my heroes who dont have superior runes or good armor.. also with only henchmen all the way. So what are the insignias and runes needed for when you do good without them?..
Maybe it has something to do with experience..
And also try to make your characters a "main".. my monk is my main, thats the one I wanna get titles for etc. When you decided your main character, you dont worry about the other characters heroes and such. And yeah, when your "main" has all titles or w/e, change to another one.. but that will take a while too, acomplinshing all missions etc with only one character. If you get my point.

Warrior Of The Toon
Heros were meant to be a gold sink, and what about early on in the game when your heroes are supposed to be low level? Running around with a pimped out level 20 Koss is surprisingly not what you're expected to do. The system is fine as it is, if you can't afford it start playing with only a few characters you enjoy, or slowly pimp out one set of heroes at a time. If this is too hard for you, do the cheap thing and transfer your hero equipment...

I would like it if you unlock one hero in PvE, you get it for the other characters with the same level, equipment, and so on.
Because I really do not like spending money on my heroes, I just get a minor rune, slap it on their headpiece and call it good.

heroes are a luxury. If you dont have the money to outfit them the way you like then use a hench. Or use your hero without pimped out equipment.

The pvp kind of unlocking thing seems the most likely idea, but its pve so it would feel out of place. Just let us use multiple armor sets on heroes and problem solved.
But do you really need to fine tune your heroes every last detail? you need to spend loads of gold on a hero to make them effective.

Guild Wars does not include the ability to spawn individual equipment by account. So ANet will never be able to provide equipment set copies for your heroes.
I find that most heroes can be well equipped for about 1-2k in insigna and runes and given weapons from drops/chests. Maxing one out with expensive insigna and Superiors is a waste unless you micro-manage your heroes. I also only upgrade completely the heroes I use all the time on each character. There is no sense in spending a fortune on Tahlkora when you always take the hench protection monk.

Just make heroes use the PvP equipment system, but still be able to accept items from the player's inventory. Problem solved, without denying those who buy 'elite' equipment for their heroes the kudos of doing so.

I play more than most, so I know my next statement will be biased. You do not need to spend ANY money on Heroes to make them 'uber'. I currently have 7 characters with NF. 5/7 have every hero, including Razah, the last 2 only need Razah yet. Each of my characters has their own rune, insignia, and weapon sets for each of their heroes. I don't do as I suggested above, and salvage runes from one character to transfer to another.
Now, all that said, I have spent less than 10k total on my heroes. I bout 4 Radiant Insignias, and 1 Minor Spawning. Have not purchased any weapons. All the runes and insignias have come from drops. Its amazing how many armors drop with runes and insignias on them. I actually have runes I need to sell, because I have no heroes or characters that need them any more.
Collector weapons are easy to obtain, and often can be obtained with no extra work. !5^50 Axe can be gotten from a collector just north of Remains of Sahlajha for 5 Mummy Wrappings (iirc). 15^enchanted Scythe can be gotten in Gate of Torment for 5 Demonic Relics. Granted, these do not have a prefix or suffix mod, but you can add those when you find them.
Spending money on Heroes is not something you need to do. The game will provide you with what you want/need if you play normally.
